Alright, it's a shit storm brewing about zelda. It's impossible to know who to trust, and who's opinions are even worth anything. So, I propose this >post your opinion of Zelda based on content shown/played thus far >also list 3-5 of your favorite games
I'm hyped for zelda based on promotional footage and early reviews, but the chatter on here has me nervous. Favorites: >ocarina of time/majoras mask >megaman zero >battlefront 2 >fable >morrowind
It looks like your standard Open World experience. It really does.
David Edwards
>opinion 7/10 so far. The puzzles are boring and I'm not liking how empty the world feels, most of the time. I also don't like the bosses all looking the same, or being worse than SS's bosses. Too many reskins with enemies, too, and not enough changes in their attack patterns to compensate for that. Other than that, everything else seems pretty good, except the music. I am feeling disappointed, though.
>favorite games Warioland 2 Space Station 13 Donkey Kong '94 Battle Garegga
Your opinion lines up with my fears for the game, unfortunately.
>space station 13 Oh shit, how did I forget about that game
Nathan Bailey
It looks shit

Unsure if parody Absolutely parody. Nice ME3 for flavor. Can we not /consolewars/ for like 10 minutes?
Jeremiah Anderson
9/10 I'm hyped. It looks like the most deep, interactive Zelda game Nintendo has ever made. I have a Switch preorder and I'm downloading the leaked Wii U version to try it out.
Fav games >Ace Combat 4 >Majora's Mask >Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney >Trauma Center: Under the Knife >The Wonderful 101 >Super Mario RPG I guess this outs me as a pretty outspoken Nintendo fan.
Xavier Jenkins
Word, it does look very very detailed. My only concern is how that detail is distributed across such a huge world.
Solid list, no shame in being a Nintendo fan, but it does color your opinions a bit as it does mine, I'm a huge Nintendo fag that's why I wanted to get people's lists
Brandon Barnes
8/10. Botw looks very comfy and, in my personal opinion, better than Horizon (I watched the whole stream of it last week with you anons). I can't wait to play it on my switch.
>OoT >Majora >Bloodborne >DS >TF2
>inb4 shit taste
Charles Hughes
I think it's going to be a pretty solid title, and hopefully one that lays the groundwork for future Zelda games. I'm looking forward to getting it once I actually get a Switch, but people overhyping the fuck out of it won't end up so well. Hype is fine, but damn tone it down some. >Link's Awakening >ALTTP >WW
Michael Ortiz
It seems okay so far, but that's about it. The lack of overworld music seems like a huge oversight, I shouldn't be going for alternative audio sources a few hours in. The physics stuff is actually cool, but the simple combat really drags down all of their attempts to make the game challenging, or make exploration satisfying. I'd say that's the biggest weakness; the open world isn't hugely populated, but at least if the combat were good, getting to a hot spot would be exciting.
I just played Nier Automata, and while the combat wasn't exceptional, and the open world was even more sparse, getting into a big optional fight or finding a drone program feel like a big deal. Getting a powerful sword that will break in two fights just doesn't do it for me, and neither does mashing my way through another group of bokoblins.
I don't share the complaints about the graphics though, I think it looks pretty good.

It looks okay but nothing to get hyped over. I haven't played it, but it reminds me alot of MGS5 or something like that.

>Empty World >There is no flow in battles, because you have to change your weapons constantly. >The camera don't ajdust to Link when you circle a enemy. >Link constantly hike stuff without you want to do it. >There is no Knockback, the enemy and Link don't really knockback after being hit, which makes the game feel all wonk and strange. Really, it is annoying and strange. >Cooking is dumb, you should enter in a inventory screen after interact with the bowl, not "hold" the item before... >The buttons are confusing, because the changed the "classic Zelda layout" without any reason at all. It should have follow Dark Souls steps, but it is like they step back from their own series. >Really the battles are really THAT bad. >The target system is not good. >You can't change enemy focus/cycle enemies when locked on.
Favorite games: >Ocarina of Time. >A Link to the Past. >Super Mario Galaxy. >Metal Gear Solid 3. >Super Mario World. >Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door (bonus)

Lenny just went through a Shrine with a guardian having spin attacks and charged laser barrages.
The game is fine. Overworld has static enemies, dungeons will have harder ones.
Jose Rivera
I'm trying to be cautious, but honestly this game looks amazing besides the framerate problems.
Favorite games: >Cave Story >No More Heroes >Psychonauts >Killer 7 >Parasite Eve 2

3/10 Looks like an open world generica meme game. I was very hopeful for this title and it's just living up to the "Console wars" bullshit from everything I have seen.
Uncreative content, reused "memes" like Ubisoft Towers, horrifyingly bad AI for most of the enemies; the bosses are just sponges, weapons have no heart or design because they're all disposables and durability renders any attachment to them temporary at best (No Ocarina of Time moments like finding the Hammer in Fire Temple, etc).
Really hope it plays far better than what i've seen and gathered.
>Favorite Games Ocarina of Time Dark Souls 1 Okami Super Mario RPG Seven Stars Dragon Age Origins and/or Baldur's Gate 2

Looks cool. I'm a sucker for open world so I think I'll really like it if I play it, but I'm not going to do so unless the reviews are very good and people generally like it (don't have hacked Wii U and I'm a penny pincher). It has to be worth my time.
Anyways, >Super Mario Galaxy >Crash Team Racing >Mega Man X6 (dead serious) >Mario Kart Double Dash >Sengoku Rance
Adrian Morris
>half to change weapons constantly
Quite the overstatement. Got ahold of 4 soldier swords dicking around and haven't even broken my first yet and I've spent probably 3 hours just clearing out camps and shrines.
Jaxon Adams
Have* been looking at a screen for too long.
For what it's worth, I went in with zero expectations or hype and I love it. The fact that it incorporates some early Japanese aesthetic is a nice change of pace too. The weapons are a pretty neat change too once you stop using the starting zone stuff.
Cameron Johnson
>There is no flow in battles, because you have to change your weapons constantly. This isn't a problem when weapon switch is mapped to a single button press. Pic related.
Dunno about the rest of your random complaints. I'll see for myself.

Kevin Murphy
What? How come? I had only one weapon with good durability, and it was one with 12 atk. The rest breaks pretty easily, specially if you throw them and kill the Mini-bosses/guardians.
Adrian Thompson
It looks fucking amazing. It's everything I've ever wanted a Zelda game to be. There's just so much to do and explore. The shrines are great, and the game's filled with little surprises. It's polished as all fuck. I usually dislike open world games, but this I feel is open world done right. No "kill x" fetch quests, and a tightly designed world where terrain is taken into account from travelling to exploration.
>Favorite games Metroid Prime Banjo-Tooie Panzer Dragoon Saga

>>There is no Knockback, why does people go an lie on the internet?
Jose Reyes
I have a lot of complaints, but this is the worst offender EVERY LAST BIT of the open endedness of the game is smoke and mirrors >You can challenge Ganon at the very start of the game, but cannot actually beat him because of the durability system (Which is a whole other rant on it's own, BOTW durability is The fun stops here: The mechanic) >This means getting the master sword >In order to get the master sword, you must grind out a currently unknown amount of hearts >Hearts aren't hid in overworld puzzles, you just find point on the map, receive heart or stamina, and move onto the next one +Hearts from the 4 dungeons presumably >And you find those points by climbing up the ubisoft towers and activating them The entire game is 100% just another garbage open world game but it tries to trick you into thinking it isn't. It's a very large and wide body of water, but after looking at it for more than a moment you realize it's only as deep as a puddle.
Some of the aesthetics are nice but that does not a game make. All of the handcrafting the made the zelda overworlds good is entirely gone from this entry. The dungeons similarly seem weak. The shrines are trash. And it's a god damn chore to get anywhere because of the vast stretches of nothing coupled with an obscenely small stamina meter.
Some of my favorites Banjo, Kazooie or Tooie I love them both about equally Transistor Kirby Air Ride Dragon Age Origins Kid Icarus Uprising
Samuel Parker
>The rest breaks pretty easily, specially if you throw Throw is designed to deal critical damage but also tax hard on the weapon. the fuck were you expecting???
Nolan Miller
I only throw when they are already breaking.
It is like one/two per battle. And most of the time they happen to break in the middle of it.
Adam Smith
Yup.
The combat itself is the biggest offender, it is like 3 or 4 steps back from TP and Dark Souls series. There is no knockback, and when Link is thrown he takes FOREVER to recover, because he is rolling.
Nolan Peterson
throwing em is a waste. the breaking hit is critical by default. throw a weapon is only smart if you really need the long range damage like snipping a camp outlooker
Justin Torres
Open world still worries me a bit, but after everything I've seen I think it looks great. >Wind Waker >Half-Life 2 >Yume Nikki >Metroid Prime 2 >RE4
Christian Morgan
>pasta >samefagging you are pathetic

But I only throw when they are breaking.

No, not the same user, I'm the guy who said that on the other topic, also because I really feel like this about the combat system, Nintendrone.

Gabriel Mitchell
All these amazing,l in-depth opinions taken from watching a stream all day.
Don't you fags have other games to play? Why do you spoil everything watching a stream? Fucking cancer.
Parker Robinson
Can't you read, user? Link only gets thrown, I can't stop a enemy atack by attacking him, it feels like an unstoppable animation, the same thing goes for Link, the enemies can't really knockback Link with weaker attacks, so you don't feel like you are taking damage.
When Link receives knockback, he gets thrown, and takes FOREVER to recover, because he is rolling. It is strange as fuck.
Lucas Harris

Holyshit that shrine he went through is a fucking mario 64 level even the music is similar

All you need to know about how much confidence has in the game is the fact that the review embargo lifts a day before release.
It just screams 7/10 and Horizon screams 8/10 for me personally.
Jaxson Thompson
>>post your opinion of Zelda based on content shown/played thus far
6.5-7/10 >lack of real-time healing and constantly breaking weapons looks frustrating and immersion-breaking >shrines look like they'll become repetitive fairly quickly and it doesn't help that there isn't any thematic variety to them >animal, enemy and boss bestiary is pathetically small >music is trash - either just sounds flat-out bad or is uninspired, forgettable atmospheric shit with some lose classic Zelda tunes thrown in >no real large towns so far - just looks like a bunch of tiny villages >physics are neat but feel wasted and poor combat mechanics and simple puzzles
Overall, I'm extremely disappointed and glad that I didn't preorder. I new thought I say this for what was once my favorite franchise, but I think I'm going to drop the Zelda series for good now until Nintendo either hands the IP over to a second/third party, or brings Koizumi back. I don't trush Aonuma and Fujibayashi anymore, just fucking fire them already Nintendo. Especially Aonuma.
Favorite Games: >Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask (tie for me) >Shadow of The Colossus >Bloodborne >Banjo Tooie >Resident Evil 4

I put about 3 hours in, I think it's amazing so far. The difficulty is just right, the open world feels varied and well designed, and I love the hands-off approach to the story and gameplay, which feels incredibly natural and good to play. I don't see what could really be better so far, maybe the world and systems will wear thin but right now I'm inclined to think the naysayers are a bunch of edgelord faggots looking to hate
>Earthbound >MGS2 >Smash Bros Melee

6/10. Self-explanatory, there is enough footage out there and I have been watching several live streams for the past 9 hours. Hype is dead. I didn't ask for this.

Does it have the original overworld theme song?
Cameron Howard
goddamn the sound design is excellent in this. comfy as FUCK
Justin Russell
NO. It has barely what you could even describe as a soundtrack. Just some edgy, abstract ambience and shitty boss battle tunes.
Hunter Myers
I feel exactly like you, Zelda OoT and ALttP are both one of my favorite games...
What made Zelda really shiny was Koizumi/Tezuka, that is clear now. Aonuma ruined the series with that "puzzle oriented bullshit".
LA, ALttP and OoT were directed/co-directed by them.
Lucas Anderson
Yes
Connor Gomez
Stop lying on the internet, you faggot.

No, as far I've played, a weird experimental ambient sound plays in some areas, like montain tops and next to Shrinre, I'm on the second part of the game, so I can't confirm.

6/10 from an observation point of view, haven't played it yet. It really does look like the open world formula put through a nintendo filter. They might be new to the Zelda franchise, but a lot of these ideas have been done before, and in an environment where they're not trying to do everything at once. Weapon durability to me takes almost all the fun out of any adventure game. It isn't a challenge, it's a chore. It's not immersive, it's a chore. It's like having to make Link shit when he needs to or he'll automatically clench his buttcheeks and walk funny until you do. All that being said, it looks like a game where you can take many different approaches to things like exploration and combat, which is always welcome. I just hope that all those little things like setting grass on fire, propelling rocks, or destroying environments will actually be a viable option in combat.
Favourite games: >FFXII >FFXIV >Gitaroo Man >Gravity Rush 2 >Oracle of Ages
Julian Smith
Nintendrones will defend this.
Zachary Harris
Looks incredible. I'm really excited for a game that just lets you explore and get lost without shoving a billion location and quest markers in your face. 10/10?
The enormous map isn't worth exploring, because all there is to see is encampments, animals to kill, and weapons to pick up. There's no music at all except for dungeons and enemy encounters. The button mapping is all kinds of retarded, and you can't even customize it in the options. You'll see basically every single kind of pickup in just your first two hours.
Fuck the open world meme, and fuck Aonuma.
ALttP KH2FM MGS2 S3&K Tokyo Jungle

>The enormous map isn't worth exploring, because all there is to see is encampments, animals to kill, and weapons to pick up. There's no music at all except for dungeons and enemy encounters.
These are literally all wrong.

But they're not.

You forgot the shrines, korok seeds and towers. I don't know how you missed the main elements to the game. Music does play when just in the overworld too.
Logan Lee
>Koroks seeds.
Lol user, really?
Zachary Bell
It looks good but I didn't like TP much (it was cheesy as fuck too) and SS was not good (not that it's completely trash, dungeons were kinda nice).
I thought that after the first time BotW was shown, it got out hand. There were BotW even months later even though there was nothing new to discuss and it was just the same webms posted over and over again and people started to bitch around when someone mentioned that.
I'm really looking forward to BotW but I'll wait a week until I decide to buy (also I have an important exam on the 9th). I fell for 3DWorld so I will doubt Sup Forums. Because it's fucking Zelda I won't listen to any reviews. They are too scared to upset nintendrones/fanboys (8.8)
My favourites: >OoT >SM64 >PoP trilogy (SoT, WW, T2T) >Titan Quest (I have a weak spot for mythology) >Age of Empires 2 >Souls series >SMT series >Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
There are a lot other games I like a lot, so fuck you tl;dr I hope it's good but I'm cautious

There are also secrets like the graveyard with the shining stones. The gane is full of small things that help in he variety of exploration

Looks like the best 3d zelda yet.Even with sone flaws and shit performance.
The weapon durability is fucking up the game for sure, it's a terrible idea. The bosses are also FFXIII tier. It still might be good though but I don't trust Edges boner for Nintendo games.
Juan Howard
>From what I've seen (watch some leak streams for a few hours today + all trailers/E3 stuff) the game seems really fun but then again I'm a big sucker for exploration

What can I say? Comfy exploration quest 2017 still sounds like a pretty damn appealing way to while away the hours.
