is this bait? i recently went back and played it and it is certainly a solid game. if you don't like platformers or collectathons, then well, i guess you might not like it.
Trying too hard.
Gee OP I bet you are doing this not because YL got a trailer
fucking awful
shiggy diggy was right, it was all graphics and no gameplay
Completely correct
DKC2 on the other hand is fucking God-Tier
delete this
>popular at release
>it was because of nostalgia the whole time
ITT: Literally every Rare game
...
>THE MODERN GAME INDUSTRY IS SHIT
>BUT PEOPLE INDULGING IN NOSTALGIA ARE FAGGOTS
Hypocrisy.
yeah this Sup Forums guy is a total hypocrite who can never settle on one opinion.
ITT: Bad threads only faggots like because they're the OP
>those style sheets
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
literally stock appchan
show me yours fagboy
The main complaints I have for this game is that the hub is way too big (having to navigate all this bullshit every time you turn on the game or you want to go in a particular level) and you have to get all the notes in one go. And the notes are fucking everywhere including the area you open to get a jiggie so it's like redoing the whole level over again.
Also the draw distance is absolutely horrendrous, it took me way too long to find bottles in the egyptian level because the game wouldn't display him unless I was like 5 meters away from him, and he's in a secluded area that you have no reason to get near.
>le contrarian meme
T. Underage who never played this stuff when it came out
>it was all graphics
Music was cool too
>you need to play Banjo-Kazooie when it came out to think it's a good game
The hallmark of a bad game.
that game is shit
...no?
>conker's bad fur day
>bad
And there are plenty of old games that aren't a chore to play, which makes it even more damning.
the rude jokes now are just cringe
Played this game back on my N64. It's a shitty Mario ripoff featuring a retarded bear and his gay bird backpack. Literally the only thing that was fun was flying around as a bee on that summer level.
This is true though.
Are you talking shit about Snake Rattle N Roll?
>Bad game
>Better than Mario 64
Fuck off
>Sup Forums hates Banjo-Kazooie
Literal children
>Better than Mario 64
You cannot seriously believe this. It's offensive to even consider the possibility that someone could believe this.
Is this national bait day?
this. rayman 2 shits all over it.
lttp while we're at it.
most bland zelda.
>Only thing Mario 64 has are physics
>Meanwhile Banjo-Kazooie has better level design, characters, platforming, music, and way better controls
collectathon is shit game design. I think to appreciate them you had to be a child during their golden age, born sometime in the early 90s. older or younger, they know these are shit games.
>Rayman 2
My fuckin nigga
ITT: Bad trolling that only people who post on Sup Forums in [current year] could think is clever
Banjo-Kazooie:
>bright colorful worlds
>10/10 OST
>looks prettier
>objectively superior overworld which has a great atmosphere and gives a nice feel of progression when you get further into the lair
>doesn't kick you out of the world after you grab a jiggy
Super Mario 64:
>Worlds feel exactly the same and are incredibly boring in terms of level design
>reuses assets like a motherfucker
>okay OST
>looks like shit
>Peach's castle is boring as fuck
>kicks you out of the world every time you get a star
>only thing it has going for it is "muh physics"
Kill yourself nostalgiashitter, Mario 64 is the worst of all mainstream 3D Platformers (Banjo, Rayman, R&C, Jak and Daxter, etc)
This.
I loved that fucking game, but I never got past that underwater level with the whale or whatever it was sadly.
Fuck you
>You didn't really like this game because you were just a kid. You know it's really shit.
I can never see this argument as anything but stupid.
Kari is best Digigirl
>when Sup Forums doesn't realize SM64 gets praised for being an actual platformer and not an adventure game disguised as one
...
Is there even a current platformer that has the same amount of depth in movement as this game?
>actual platformer
The platforming was even't that great though.
...
Literally any Pokemon game up until the DS
I hated the fuck out of Banjo Tooie. Way too exapnsive for it's own good and most levels were just fucking empty. The carnival level as well as the dinasour land one comes to mind when I think of too much space. Though, Grunty's Industries is god damn phenomenal. Shame none of the other levels follow in the complexity and interesting mechanics .
>Platforming
>Bunch of literal blocks just floating in the air
>wow 10/10 amazing game
You're half right, Crash is better but only because it played it safe. Mario controlled fantastic and allowed for some really fun acrobatic feats and still had more platforming sections than others called 3D platformers at the time. But games like Banjo, Jak (at least 2+) Ratchet, etc. are just 3D adventure games.
T H I S
let's a go faggots
Banjo-Tooie is fine.
>WitchyWorld
>Not GOAT
youtube.com
I really loved the theme of the levels. They were all pretty cool.
I still don't get why people say Kazooie was better than Tooie. Tooie is better in every single way.
>Mario controlled fantastic
Stopped reading there. Mario in 64 controls like an ice skater skating on frozen butter
The physical special split was nice but Gen 3 added abilities which was way better for the franchise.
mario 64 fans are autistic and would prefer every game to lack any sort of personality whatsoever and just be generic floating blocks.
I would argue the exact opposite when you aren't using his various jumps (what you should be doing), but that's because the N64 analog was a stiff piece of shit.
>Pokemon Snap is literally 1 hour long
>Pokemon Red has tons of flaws with its balance
>Pokemon Stadium has shitty rental Pokemon and fights unless you use your own.
Nah man. Not doing it for me. But, I just remembered about Jolly Rogers Lagoon or whatever it was called. That level was pretty decent.
What are you talking about? Tooie levels might be larger, but every section of it had something going on in them.
Fuck off nigger, gen 2 made so much progress and had so much more content. It built upon the successful base of gen 1 and added way more features like the night/day cycle and actual backwards compatibility with gen 1, and all of this could run on a 1989 Game Boy in black and white. Now you have to buy the new mobile console with the new gimmick to play even if you don't want the gimmick.
>nigger main character
how does people like this game?
no
Some people don't like the more metroidvania approach in any genre.
>autism the fucking post
ITT: It's bad because it's old
>theres people on this very board that like this game
just get over it grandpas, 2d characters + 3d shit sucks ass.
Not even trolling, and not even counter-shitposting because a bunch of Nintendo games got posted.
I genuinely believe this, and I bought it on the day it came out. There's little merit here other than the good-for-PS1 graphics.
Don't believe me? It's funny how NOBODY posted about this game on Sup Forums until the last couple of years when people born in 95 and younger were allowed.
And those same nostalgia babies cried over Nuts and Bolts despite the fact that it was the best and as far as I can tell only game of it's kind on 360. Nostalgia needs to die.
Yeah but the game is only remember because you get to go back to Kanto and no one was expecting that. Johto sucks a big fat dick in comparison when it comes to design, gym leaders, and things to do. Only city I remember off the top of my head is Goldenrod.
Nice arguments.
Tooie level design was more complex and cohesive. Different types of eggs ammunition increased the puzzle variety and much more to use ammunition against enemies. Many more mini-games. Boss battles in every level.
Leave Sup Forums.
But whoever decided to color code the bananas was autistic.
ITT children too young to have owned anything older than a PS3.
why the hell does people even like this game
its literally autism
Majora's mask too btw.
Fucking overrated pieces of cold garbage.
t. too young to remember how good platformers were before collectathon shit was invented.
I think it's just personal preference.
In Kazooie, the levels were a lot tighter designed, and self-contained. If you knew the placement of everything, you could clear a level out pretty fast.
In Tooie, the levels were a lot more open and had a couple instances of backtracking through levels, and that aspect alone turned a lot of people off.
youtube.com
What is it about Mario that draws out the most autism? I feel like even Sonic doesn't have stuff like the Half an A Press stuff.
>Insulting Pokemon
>Sup Forums
Bold move my dude.
damn nigger now you really starting to hit me deep
Give me one (1) reason this game is good.
>Mario 64
>Not a collectathon
This is the only Spyro game that I consider playable, and it's one of those PS1 games that won't lose its appeal because it's got such good core design.
fuck im retarded
Seriously, Tooie backtracking was nothing compared to DK64.
>Tooie level design was more complex and cohesive.
>required warp pads to even make navigating feasible
lol
>Different types of eggs ammunition increased the puzzle variety and much more to use ammunition against enemies.
Most of the time you would only use Grenade Eggs and Clockwork Kazooie eggs.
>Many more mini-games.
How is this a good thing, exactly?
>Boss battles in every level.
Yeah this was cool.
Kazooie was just the right size, big enough to have you immersed yet short enough to be completed in a few sittings.
I honestly don't get Sup Forums's desire to poop on old sonic. Is it because it's become a marginally safe contrarian opinion? They're just decent 2D platformers with varied stages and quirky momentum physics. You could argue they're not great, but bad?
I played this for the first time earlier last year and I thoroughly enjoyed it, didn't like Tooie though, the levels just didn't feel right so I stopped pretty early on in that game.
>ITT: take phenomenal games that hold up today and post them
I don't like it, but I would call it a proto-collectathon. platformers were at their best when they were 2D, linear, fast paced difficult.
...
rtcw and the quake trilogy were always better games
even fucking strife was better
>walk around the city and do qtes : the game
Why did people want this series to even come back? Should have stayed dead, we already have enough uncharteds.
The stars basically acted as flag poles for the game and most of the time that was what you were trying to get. Compare that to DK64.
itt: bait
>Mario 64 above anything
Mario 64 is literally the most autistic game ever created.
Dumb weeb.
