don't forget
>DUDE THE WATER IS MAKING PEOPLE HIGH AND HALLUCINATING THE ENTIRE THING
ridelle is best girl
>DUDE THE TOWN ISN'T REAL IN SOME WAY
Why is this the plot to every single Layton game ever (or at least the 3 I've played and this crossover)
>nobody saw the shadows
>nobody bumped into the invisible tower in the middle of the city
The ending created more questions than it answered.
Uhhh your partner is a girl who can channel dead people.
This is more of a stretch?
>DUDE MAGIC ISNT EVEN REAL LMAO
>ITS ALL A GIANT PRANK
That's full on magic. That's fine. However, layton games always try to have those weird sci-fi tweests which just don't really work sometimes. As pointed out, for example.
Magic 'exists'
The 4th, 5th, and 6th game have different plots. The 4th's game's plot involves what's the Specter terrorizing this town, the 5th's who's the identity of this Masked Gentleman, and the 6th's involves an ancient civilization and their lost legacy.
The "super black light-bending material" stuff ended up being a real thing, atleast.

Story got weak towards the end, puzzles were too easy by Layton standards and Phoenix was too much of a buttmonkey within the story for my liking but all in all I enjoyed it. Probably the best Phoenix & Maya have ever been as a duo too.
And that's why it's never mentioned.
Luke being able to talk to animals is perfectly fine as a pivotal plot point, though.
Pretty sure unwound future was the one with the town that wasn't real
and last specter went full retard even by layton standards
layton's beyond retarded stories are one of the reasons I dropped the series (the other being after three+ games of puzzles, I kinda got all the Layton I wanted).
For as charming as they make the games, these idiotic ALL JUST A PRANK IT'S NOT REAL BRO plots drag you right the fuck out of the experience. Layton 2 was especially stupid about this. IT'S ALL JUST GAS BRO WE ALL HALLUCINATED THE EXACT SAME TOWN, PEOPLE, AND LOCATIONS HA HA BRO
but do they have that thing where the twists it complete and utter bullshit? that is somehow less believeable than if it was actually supernatural?
THE ENTIRE TOWN ARE ACTUALLY ROBUTTS
THE GAS LEAKING FROM THE MINES MADE EVERYONE HALLUCINATE THE TOWN LOOKING THE SAME AFTER 50 YEARS!
THEY WERE ALL ACTORS, WE BUILT THE ENTIRE UNDERGROUND CITY!
THERE WAS NO TIME TRAVEL AT ALL! THAT'S STUPID! ,MY EVIL GENIUS WALKING FORTRESS MAKES TOTAL SENSE THOUGH. EXCEPT THERE TOTALLY FUCKING WAS TIME TRAVEL IN THE FIRST PLACE!
jesus fucking christ does it get any better?
The 5th game's "twist," is the most tame in the series and isn't crazy at all. Only 4th is kind of hard to believe while the 6th's is inbetween.
Sort of yeah.
So is it just lazy writing, attempting to make something ridiculous plausible, or just being silly and easy for children to comprehend ?
It's not lazy, just dumb.
That's a weird way to spell Kira.
This is worse than any Ace Attorney game.
You Layton people dig this ass-pulling?
Are you able to read the thread?
>expecting to have to solve the mystery of the town
>Storyteller comes by the trial and just exposition dumps EVERYTHING
the only thing worse than that was
>Sir Layton, I, the master of this world, am greatly pleased to have you and your massive intellect here so that I might fellate your penis
>Thank you Storyteller, btw whats up with that dude in the suit and the girl dressed like a monk?
>oh they're some rando's that wandered in so I made them think they're bread makers LOL
And then Nick got upstaged by Layton at every single turn. Its a shame that a game that's otherwise really good got wrecked so hard by the immense Layton wankery.
>Storyteller comes by the trial and just exposition dumps EVERYTHING
That was honestly the hardest I've laughed because of a video game in ages. The sheer amount of actually truthful concentrated nonsense in every part of his testimony was ridiculous.
>And then Nick got upstaged by Layton at every single turn. Its a shame that a game that's otherwise really good got wrecked so hard by the immense Layton wankery.
I really enjoyed the game up to the last case. When I saw Layton taking the inquisitor's place, I really expected having an actually showdown of wits between the two, instead, Layton had already solved everything and was just teasing Wright until Storyteller arrived to drop the bomb. It really felt like Wright had regressed to AA1 rookieness in a matter of a few dialogues.
At least the third case was amazing and watching a pissed as fuck Phoenix threatening Barnham was intense.
Same. This bugged me more than the usual layton silliness.
I mean it's Layton VERSUS Pheonix Wright, i was expecting them initially being against each other and some battle of wits instead of immediately teaming up. That would've been much more entertaining. Not to mention that Layton never really 'loses' and Wright is a lot more dumb than he usually is
The overall boringly easy difficulty of the puzzles and courtroom segments along with everything else made it subpar but I love ace attorney and layton so much i still managed to enjoy it somewhat
Unwound future is the one with underground London replica, it's real. You mistook it with Diabolical Box.
