I just received a new hard drive to put all my geimu on.

What letter should I choose?

>C AND E ARE MISSING
>C IS THE 3RD LETTER IN THE ALPHABET AND E+3 = E3 THE VIDEO GAME EVENT
HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED AT THE NEXT E3

You remembered to partition it as GPT while converting it to a dynamic disk, right user

You should return it and get an SSD.

Hard drives are outdated technology.

goddamn son, I'm Comptia A+ certed and I still can't keep track of all this shit, It asked me and I just used MBR. shits still empty so I can re-partition it though. whats so much better about GPT?

Not when its two Terra-bytes for 50 bucks buddi boi. no way I'm going back to the early 2000s with that 130 bucks for 250 gb bullshit.

V for Sup Forums is the obvious choice

G!

>C is default

why not A?

That's for the floppy drive.

it isn't 1990

So what? There is old machines out there, for the sake of compatibility with old software (and part of windows success) they still support them even on windows 10

g for games
g for gangsta
g for op is gay

>oh boy I cant wait to access my 1.44MB floppy diskette with all of my 16-bit applications on windows 10!

>wat is dosbox

>wat is hard drive

You could probably download those games faster than I can get my fatass out of my chair to get the discs.

>Microsoft makes decisions based on autist consumers

Just because you screech when your tendies touch your frenchies and mommy fixes it doesn't mean MS cares about your autism tauntrums.

S for steam

Yes you can reformat it, MBR has a limit of 2TBs roughly

>Backwards compatibility is bad and useless.
I bet you own an XBONE and PS4.

ok here's a better question, how long should there be support for floppies? at some point you need to move on.

G:

xbone has great backwards compatability tho

>by removing features we're improving the product

I hate underage so much.

F: for Faggot

There will ALWAYS be support for floppies. It's called backwards compability and it's a very important concept in computers.
Also conventions are impossible to break once settled. Even in 20 years the system drive will still be C: because Of the old days of the A_ and B: floppy drive.

>tfw dumb as shit and all of these posts might as well be written in Swahili

Yeah but the point is CP/M style file system is antiquated as af

Calm down man its just a letter

But who was B?

>letter
>not \dev\sda5

MBR: Master boot record

The MBR format is the classic old disk formatting way, being this old it also has the biggest restrictions, you can have up to 4 primary partitions on a disk and without tricks the disk can only be at max 2 TB big.

>when your tendies touch your frenchies

What's B then?

that's for the 5 1/4" floppy drive

this

literally why would you need GPT unless it's like 4TB, I doubt he's going to make more than 4 partitions on it

>not mounting it to /vidya

It's just an alternative.
I use the trusty good old MBR too but GPT surely has more versatility.
But yeah, if you keep resizing partitions over and over all the time you did something wrong...

>got a new hard drive I planned to use for games
>eventually just became a dump for shit I'm seeding on Gazelle
>spilled over to other drives since I ran out of room
>now all 10 of my drives have hundreds of GiB of games that I'll never play, and my SSD has literally no games on it

Word to the wise: don't start hording games or you'll never play them. Have at most three games at a time. The second you dedicate a folder or drive to it, it's over.

G for GAEMS obviously

Noice, 2tb is how big my drive is anyway but I'll re partition it for that for shits and giggle anyway.

My dude, its been over.

>/dev/sda5/
>sda5
>5
>new hard drive
>a

>/dev/
You can fstab it to /vidya/ (should be ~/vidya/), but that's the fucking device address you piece of shit.

>muh linux
I bet you don't even tripple boot Windows, Linux and OS X on your laptop

the hell do you need OSX for?

Absolutely nothing to be perfectly honest, but it runs with minimal hassle on the laptop so why the hell not.

X THEN YOU CAN BE XTREME

Hackintoshing is cool.
If you use OSX you might as well use it with a real computer.
