People claim Zero Dawn has casual game play

>people claim Zero Dawn has casual game play
>"HURR IT'S BLAND AND GENERIC. TOTAL BLUNDER"
>gameplay shows BotW having casual gameplay
>"b-b-but is Nintendo so it's okay it's for casual people anyways"

Why does Sup Forums do this double standard shit all the time?

Because Sony

wow this post is full of originality

>casual
what's casual about Zelda's gameplay? why did you change the goalpost mid post by going from "casual" to "bland and generic".
you literally don't understand half the words you use. You are THAT mad.

zelda has always had casual gameplay

Zelda is one of the most casual series of games out there aside form the first 2

>>people claim Zero Dawn has casual game play
>you can basically 1 shot kill any small/ mid robots and any human with lure and sneak attack

My god Sup Forums continues to have the blandest most predictable and generic cycle of topics I've ever seen for any gaming related message or image board. Literally what's the point when everybody knows exactly how, what, where and why people are going to be false flagging in a given week practically verbatim

Yeeeaaaaaaaah......

Sonyggers sure are being defensive of HZD now that it's getting BTFO by Zelda.

test

no it isn't

>what's casual about Zelda's gameplay?
It's a Nintendo game to begin with.

nintendo is known to make casual games you dip

To be fair, it's not just Sup Forums. To many people, it's ok when Nintendo does it. I saw some guys talking about how great BotW is, then one of them says "the dialogues are kinda bad, though" but the other replies with "yeah, but it's Zelda", which is something that wouldn't get a free pass if they were talking about any other game.

The Zelda series is just somehow not viewed in the same way as other games (pic related).

and, apparently, they're delusional too.

meanwhile...

It's almost like the Zelda series has consistently produced good titles.
This concept is absurd to Sup Forums, which strives to be contrarian in all accounts, if possible.

why do people think Sup Forums is ONE PERSON???

The game sets up checkpoints for you to respawn at after dying every few rooms in a dungeon, it's fucking pathetically casual

If you don't see anything wrong with the language of the reviewers, calling every Zelda game a "masterpiece unlike any other", "the best title in the series", "a revolution of gameplay", "possibly the best game of all time", "above Ocarina of Time", no one can help you anymore.

What the fuck are you talking about? How does the fact that "the Zelda series has consistently produced good titles" make the series exempt to criticism?

Or they legitimately believe that, and they are free to do so. Stop living in the past. It's entirely possible for BotW to supersede OoT. And because OoT is considered one of the greatest games of all time, the "possibly...best game of all time" comment also makes sense. It's also entirely possible that BotW redefines the approach for open-world games moving forward, thus the "revolution of gameplay" assertion.

Keep being contrarian, kiddo. It's cool because you get to be different :)

Reminder you can't do this in Zelda.

No series is exempt to criticism. That's not what the post implies, but if that's how you took it, that's fine. The problem is that Sup Forums typically likes to shit on things for the sake of shitting on things; i.e., being contrarian in all accounts. Zelda games are routinely praised for a reason. Does it make them exempt to criticism? No. Do they get a free pass just because they're Zelda games? No. Don't be delusional just because you might not like the games.

The problem is that BotW isn't the first Zelda title to be talked like that, son. In fact, as anyone can see if they check the reviews, EVERY Zelda title was called all those good things. At this point, Ocarina of Time should be close to the bottom of the rank of Zelda games, since "somehow" every Zelda title is a revolution that supersedes the previous entry, which anyone with a brain knows it's not true.

cant do this in HZD

>Do they get a free pass just because they're Zelda games? No.

Right, I'm not a big enough dumbass to say that NO ONE has ever heralded the newest Zelda game as the "Best ever". It's happened before, but usually not to this extent. The assertions being made with BotW are pretty far-reaching. I don't think TP and SS are as good as they were lauded to be, but they're still really fucking good.
Exaggeration is a powerful tool for attracting viewership of reviews, but it create a "Boy-Cried-Wolf" mentality where people think that BotW CAN'T be a better title than OoT or the best open-world game ever because other critics may have abused that language in the past.
I'm just recommending an open mind here.

The difference is that Zelda fans are just excited about Zelda. Sony fags are jealous and shilling Horizon in a desperate jealous rage.

BOTW is like a Miyazaki film, while Horizon is more like some cookie cutter Transformers sequel.

So one is a hack and the other is fun?

>best open world game ever
>ever

Not in a million years. How deluded are you exactly?

Because everyone knew what to expect from Zelda to begin with, while people tried to make HZD like a masterpiece of some kind and saying that its gameplay is extremely basic triggered tons of "IT'S BECAUSE YOU WANT TO JUDGE USING MELEE IN A BOW GAME".

A slow Mario game would be less of a bother than a slow sonic one, because you know what to expect and don't buy Mario for the speed.

Wanting HZD to be the ZELDA KILLER!ยง! was actually doing it a disservice. Without great expectations, compared to Zelda that was still supposed to be a Zelda, but an open-world one, this wouldn't be a problem.

How hard is this to understand? it applies to fucking everything. Expectations taint the whole thing.

Tri Force Heroes was shit on for being a garbage game. TPHD was called out for being a mediocre port (average score is 10 points lower than the original). The only reason people love the "IT'S OKAY WHEN ZELDA DOES IT" meme is because of Skyward Sword.

>lots of checkpoints make a game casual

The myriad of exceptionally difficult platformers would like a word with you.

Literally spin-offs and remakes.

how's HZD buddy?

>Trial and error platformers are difficult

What is moving the goal post?

>IT'S OKAY WHEN ZELDA DOES IT, BUT ONLY WITH THE SPECIFIC ENTRIES I CHOOSE, NOT WITH ALL ENTRIES. THAT'S WHAT I ALWAYS MEANT.

It's only trial and error if you error a lot.

What do you think the best one is? I'm open to suggestions. I haven't played BotW, so I'm not going to try and go around calling people delusional just to be cool on the internet.

Zelda doesnt even have cactus so gtfo

holy shit is she a ghost robot?

because Sup Forums isn't one person you fucking idiot

Zelda was always a casual series. One game has quest markers the other one doesn't, guess which game is more casual?

>user score 8.8 for HZD
yeah everyone is real jealous.

That's what fuels their anger even more. Seeing happy and satisfied fans legitimately loving this amazing game. They don't have the same experience with Horizon Zero Dawn. They're simply defending it because it's Sony, it's more of a job to them.

>tfw super apathetic towards open world games, hate skyrim
>pirate zelda for wii u since it was easy
>already played 10 hours and am having a blast

zelda BOTW is no lie one of the best games i've ever played in my entire life. i guarantee you the difference between the new zelda and horizon is leaps and bounds, even with horizon's technical beauty. it's just fucking nintendo man. they just have this unbeatable quality. the only downside is the framerate, but when CEMU can play zelda at 4k with hi-res textures, it won't be a problem.

how can I play it on my pc?

I'm sure it has nothing to do with the obvious pandering that Horizon is doing.

Nintendo cant do wrong

>8.8

Did metacritic delete the 0 spam?

Fuck off neofag

>stand
JoJo reference?

You mean the payed spam
By Nintentoddlers

>"b-b-but is Nintendo so it's okay it's for casual people anyways"

hasn't this been the anti nintendo argument since wii?

Post examples, you make a claim, back it up.

Physics-based combat > generic batman's creed one-button combat

...

> Nintendo cant do wrong

Apparently they did it right, you were correct.

Not him I will gladly do it.

1. Enemies have 3 to 5 seconds telegraphic windups before launching an attack. You got to be a retard to ever get hit.
2. Enemies are dumb as fuck
3. Even if you died (which will never happen unless you are a scrub) there is zero penality and you will respawn not too far away.
4. Huge weakpoints on enemies (eyes)

Nintendogaf strikes again

yes, but in the reverse order you stated

>wind ups
Have you played a western style RPG before?
>dumb ai
No it's not. They react to environments and use your mistakes against you
>hard to die
Except it's easy to die, I take it you haven't played the game or faced a Guardian yet.
>checkpoints
Save Points aren't a casual feature
>weak points
Man I wonder what the On Fire Enemy in Final Fantasy is weak too

>Have you played a western style RPG before?
Have you? Western games barely have windups, skyrim and the like have barely any. Its not actually bad to have telegraphic attacks but when they are too generous like here its just destroys any kind of reaction time requirements.

>No it's not. They react to environments and use your mistakes against you
They react extremly slow and have very simple attack patterns. Running to light their sticks on fire when Link is right in front of them is not smart either.

>Except it's easy to die, I take it you haven't played the game or faced a Guardian yet.
Maybe if you are retarded.

>Save Points aren't a casual feature
Why cut of the rest of the argument? No penelaty whatsoever.

>Man I wonder what the On Fire Enemy in Final Fantasy is weak too
If you have a very small roster of unique enemies it would be better to actually design them so that players can experiment instead of just slapping a huge sign "hit here" on the enemy.

FF games have a huge amount of enemy types.

Oh yeah I forgot.
5. Stunlock invincibility

Not him, but
I haven't seen much of guardians, but don't they only have the laser to attack you with? Every clip I've seen you can run sideways to dodge it.

Why can't people just enjoy what will probably be two good games?
