Hey there! We at Bisonbit are currently working on a new farming simulator we call Farm-Folks! We thought it might be a nice idea to share it with you guys here :)
If you're interested in keeping up with development and being one of the first people to test out alpha, follow us on Twitter: twitter.com/farmfolksgame
We also have a weekly development blog! Feel free to take a look: farmfolks.net/devblog/
Don't forget to sign up to our newsletter, we will be giving away some free copies of Farm-Folks to a few lucky people!: farmfolks.net/newsletter
Look at all those crop stages! there are currently 6 season specific crops to grow, there will be many more coming.
Brody Ross
A view of the player home and some basic furniture, eventually you will have the ability to decorate your home and even build extensions.
Blake Lopez
Some basic farming tools, a hoe, axe, watering can and sickle for your everyday farming needs.
Grayson Thomas
The exterior of the player home. We are very happy with the art style we are going for, we hope you all like it too!
Jaxon Edwards
If you're going to shill here you better be offering the following
>you can date the milfs >you can date the dilfs >comfy fishing >a flower garden >an assload of post story dialogue, no looping old shit
also no gay romance no buy
David Jenkins
Close ups of some basic furniture. Eventually, the player will be able to buy and craft new furniture.
Jackson Rogers
Your field slave seems a bit light skinned
Jordan Bennett
Oh fuck 3D models? My dick is listening, how long have you mates been working on the project and what brings you to Sup Forums to shill for it? Do you have end goal features list?
Austin Walker
do you actually have anything to show about the game besides 4 art assets?
Elijah Ward
>you can date the milfs If they're single, you betchya! (Might be able to get a tad flirty with the taken ones)
>you can date the dilfs Again, same as above
>comfy fishing Of course! We want to implement a really cool fishing system
>a flower garden Along with herbs!
>an assload of post story dialogue, no looping old shit Story is going to be a huge part of this game, something we don't want to skimp on!
>also no gay romance no buy You can canoodle with whoever you'd like, love is love!
Nathaniel Carter
So it's stardew valley in 3d
Tyler Gutierrez
Nice low poly artstyle
Not what I was expecting with a logo and name like that, I was expecting some farnville knockoff.
Over the next week, we will be implementing all of the new environment assets to make the farm pretty, new ui and hud, and some moo cows!
Alexander Edwards
>If they're single
Boooooring.
Hudson Rodriguez
Christ, it looks like a project from some idiot in a game development major
Zachary Stewart
This.
I'd change the name to something not so "app-storey"
Benjamin Long
To be fair, Harvest Moon came first ;) We are expanding Farm-Folks in another direction with a range of new features, from new farming types, to a vehicle system, huge amounts of wilderness exploration, sooo many animals (ride-able llamas of course), and much more!
We want to ensure Farm-Folks is a unique experience!
Benjamin Davis
>love is love!
Kill yourself
Is this all you've done? Stuck a bunch of assets down in Unity and wrote a few simple scripts?
It's literally nothing. You can crack that out in literally 1 week
Maybe try putting some actual work in before you start shilling.
Jace Lee
you need to work on that camera as well as animations because that walking/running/head-turning is unappealingly choppy
tighten that shit up and you'll be far better off. I'm digging the music
The name Farm-Folk makes this sound like a phone game though. I'd change it or risk getting buried under all the other generic name games
Jack Ward
no vr support no buy
get with the times flatscreen plebs
Kayden Powell
We are still in the early stages, core mechanics are always the first steps of building a new game, Farm-Folks will be getting a ton of new assets and polishing over the next few weeks! :)
Jaxson Perry
You can advertise shit here but good luck I guess?
Isaiah Ross
> shilling on Sup Forums
Looks like Cubeworld once again.
Hunter Taylor
I dont mind shilling as long as it is transparent.
Jaxson James
*can't
Nathaniel Clark
you'd better be. Don't be the next Wild Season
Kevin Ward
>You can canoodle with whoever you'd like, love is love! kys sage report
Connor Martinez
looks good. Walking looks slow though (albeit necessarily), hope you add faster modes of travel.
Name is shit.
>love is love! add horses
Nolan Robinson
Will it have a combat system?
Evan Ortiz
>regular video game thread >constant claims of / dismissal as shilling >an actual honest-to-god unironic shill thread >almost nothing Sup Forums never ceases to amaze
Daniel Gomez
>>also no gay romance no buy >You can canoodle with whoever you'd like, love is love! add lolis and we are even
Robert Cook
> We at Bisonbit
Who are you? What's your game dev background?
Henry Thomas
Nothing wrong with a developer just going "Hey, here's our game! What do you think?" Hell, they're actually responding to people.
It's a lot different than some paid lackey starting a thread with "So I know it's getting a lot of hate, but Mass Effrect Andromeda is going to GOTYAY. I'm totally going to be buying the season's pass!" or something awful like that.
Wyatt Ramirez
>obvious big dev paid shill >as opposed to indie dev letting people know about his game It's hardly the same m8
Luke Williams
Sup Forums likes transparency
when you try to reek of 'marketer trying to blend in as a regular' you get dicks down your throat
the honesty of plain advertising is refreshing IMO. A nice break from all the falseflagging, turbo advertising, hype espionage that is Sup Forums 24/7
Colton Price
>You can canoodle with whoever you'd like, love is love! Can I make my dude a _cute_ boy? Will there be a _cute_ boy for me to canoodle? Game looks sweet
Juan Bell
Could be interesting, but that name is ass.
Wyatt King
We are currently a team of 3, all working remotely. 2 of us are in Australia, and the other in the US :)
Nolan Ramirez
>we are expanding >in another direction
How many fucking directions are there in a seasonal farming game?
Julian Walker
Hey op, what is it about this that stands out from the usual harvest moon clone?
Looks good so far. Make sure you hire a good composer.
I remember playing harvest moon on gamecube, there was this feeling of walking around, finding things you just wouldn't expect, and making money was hard. Everything was satisfying. I remember being so fucking pleased with myself for being able to afford a single dumb horse.
Angel Long
He is not bullshitting and pretending he is just a *regular gamer like you and me who just happens to like this game please check it out*
Aiden Sanchez
just suscribed to your newsletter, waiting for the copies any day now.
David Baker
Will it have guns in it and a deathmatch mode?
Sebastian Rivera
Game seems pretty damn early, but I like the aesthetic so far, how long do you think it'll take before the finish product is out?
Evan Phillips
For the love of god don't make all the grills have the same face
Bentley Thomas
>Australians making a farm game I hope you add snake shooting minigames, cheap immigrant labour and abbos riding emus as enemy types in the wilderness
Austin Lopez
The fact that you're openly shilling aside, art style looks pretty good.
How many people do you have working for you? Were you directly inspired by the success of Stardew Valley?
In what style will your character portraits be?
Lincoln Evans
Many farming simulators revolve around 3-4 things: farming, relationships, mining and sometimes combat. I know this comment won't really help you grasp what we are working on, but we have quite a few unique features under the covers that can't be found in any other Farm games :)
Sebastian Kelly
Also we have absolutely no Niggers in our game!
James Lee
>Also we have absolutely no Niggers in our game! That's the spirit.
Ethan Russell
Nice, now that's a real selling point.
Owen Gonzalez
why yes! you can dress up your character to be as pretty as you want! you can even be the little girl (male)
Sebastian Edwards
GOAT
Dominic Turner
Fucking hell. I laughed.
Jeremiah Edwards
...
Josiah Jenkins
We are only two months into developing the core mechanics of the game. However we are now at the stage to begin adding in our new assets and polishing, we are aiming to have a playable alpha in only a few weeks!
As for the finished product, there are a LOT of features to be built, there will be quite a few themed updates over the course of 1-2 years :)
Aiden Green
I can think of a few.
Jeremiah King
From what I've seen of my wife playing these kinds of games there are a couple things that are very important. >Having the daily upkeep tasks feel rewarding without being tedious. >Have a good few layers of mystery to each character >These games tend to be a slow burn of about 50-100 hours so having enough new and interesting things both in every in game day, and bigger more interesting things every few hours >Character customisation, even if it's just choosing a hairstyle can go a long way >A larger goal(s) outside of the daily tasks to keep things interesting long term
These kinds of games are all about pacing, keeping it slow, yet interesting.
How long do you guys intend the game on being for the average person from new game to when they feel like they've exhausted everything there is to do?
Charles Thompson
> Many farming simulators revolve around 3-4 things: farming, relationships, mining and sometimes combat.
Isaiah Sanchez
>Can't romance hot dark skinned qt
Dropped
Isaac James
>Love is love
Kill yourse- If you do this I'll take it back.
Nathaniel Rodriguez
>shilling on Sup Forums >no codes being handed out I don't think you get how this works.
Also if I can't date any lolis no buy
James Morgan
Preordered 10 copies Where can I donate more money?
Hudson Parker
Thank you! We are currently a team of three. Stardew Valley is definitely a huge inspiration, but we are mainly inspired by the original Harvest moon games like 64 and Back to Nature.
As for character portraits, I assume you mean for dialogue? We are actually going to be experimenting with camera movement, bringing the camera down to focus on the characters involved in the conversation in a 3D view. Characters also have different facial expressions, so that is the likely route! :)
Levi Parker
GOTY
James Howard
B-but, if there are no niggers, who will I and the rest of the town lynch during festivals at night?
There needs to be a festival nighttime sequence where you compete with the other townsfolk and head to the forest to hunt one of the niggers hiding there. First one to find a nigger gets a cash prize and some seeds/farm supplies and then you and the town gather 'round the big ol' tree to watch him getting hung
Evan Flores
LOLIS
Leo Johnson
every farm game has a magical creature that helps you out in the farm
i will seriously buy a copy of your game if the magical creature is a cute shortstack goblin u can fug
Joseph Lee
Why didn't you say so in the first place?
Dominic Scott
> no pants > no shoes Dropped.
Carson Martinez
Will there be sexual relations?
Connor Morales
fucking kek
Carson Sanchez
oh dont worry about having nobody to lynch user our game is progressive and features refugees
there will be plenty of fun and interaction as you and the other townspeople come together to play a hide and seek minigame with the townsfolk using pitchforks and torches! :)
Nathaniel Walker
I also agree that you maybe should reconsider the name. It sounds like generic shovelware on mobile app store.
William Rivera
Plus how are you going to automate the farming? It gets dull if you have to pick too many crops for too long into the game. Slaves would solve this issue.
As long as uncle Cletus gets somethin' to hang, that's soundin' fine.
Josiah Lopez
You better not be pulling a Todd Howard and deliver on your promises here.
Kayden Lewis
>Having the daily upkeep tasks feel rewarding without being tedious.
We want to be sure that every day tasks have slight differences each day, we have a few ideas.
>Have a good few layers of mystery to each character
Every character to be implemented has their own story, different types of interactions (as in sell-able items, or activities etc), and even quests!
>These games tend to be a slow burn of about 50-100 hours so having enough new and interesting things both in every in game day, and bigger more interesting things every few hours
There will of course be the tasks that can become mundane such as farming and taking care of animals, towards the end game, many of things can be made to be automatic, allowing you to focus on other things to do. There will also be a lot of random events!
>Character customization, even if it's just choosing a hairstyle can go a long way
There will be full character customization, like hair, eyes, skin color, clothing and so on. There will also be craft-able and buy-able clothes to dress up later :)
>A larger goal(s) outside of the daily tasks to keep things interesting long term
Like I mentioned, towards the end game, many of your daily chores will have the ability to be automated, allowing you to focus on features that are only available in the late game! There is also a main story line to play through, we want to make it as big and involved as we can :)
Anthony Davis
>Stardew Valley is definitely a huge inspiration, but we are mainly inspired by the original Harvest moon games like 64 and Back to Nature. Play some Runefactory to see how it should be done. H64 was really good but Stardew Valley was trash and was only popular because of the gaping black hole in the market for this genre. Also, the waifus are by far and away the most important part if you want money.
Jayden Rodriguez
This plz. Will buy 100% no bullshitting if I can canoodle smol, cute, countryside lolis. Please promise me. Make a solemn vow.
Ryan Powell
L O L I S O L I S
William Rogers
Is there a dating sim aspect to the game? Not interested if it doesn't.
I've been longing for a good dating sim for such a long time...
Caleb Bailey
Can I kill animals by myself (knife, axe, electricity) then butcher it to make some meat?
Eli Stewart
Will there be a forest and plain where you can hunt some deer/boar?
Jordan Rivera
is it animu style
>3D noice, good luck on your game OP
Grayson Evans
>Can I kill animals by myself (knife, axe, electricity) then butcher it to make some meat?
The dev already said there won't be any Niggers in the game. Sorry senpai
Blake Richardson
>There will of course be the tasks that can become mundane such as farming and taking care of animals, towards the end game, many of things can be made to be automatic Please study actual farming as well if you're serious about this game. ffa.org/thecouncil/resources Some of my biggest gripes is that games like this are made by people who've never been on a farm in their life. If you haven't had the exposure I suggest you try to get in contact with a local farm to visit/volunteer for research.
Ryan Powell
So I can be a cute male (male)? Sounds like you mean crossdressing will also be possible.
Thomas Jones
I mean actual animals you can eat like pigs, cows, cats and hedgehogs
Thomas Bennett
What engine are you using?
Easton James
Unity!
Jaxon White
Oh. Those aren't fun to kill tho
Logan Rogers
Yeah but hedgehogs taste good with some curry rice
Hunter Jones
Haha! We will likely steer clear of cats and hedgehogs, but farming animals for their meat has been on the debate, most people are requesting for us to not go that route, but it is something we could add!
Isaac Walker
Why would you not include farming animals for meat?
Also why no mention of lolis.
Brayden Ross
1. Can we expect customization of our humble abodes?
2. Will there be any threats to look out for in the game? Like pest trying to eat crops, over watering, not enough water, etc...
