ABXY has been the standard for 2 decades now user.
I can't understand any button layout that uses a fork
pic related
make that almost 3 decades.
Which ABXY?
does it really matter
I'll always remember where the shapes are at. ABXY I'll fuck up because MS had to fuck up the SNES controller layout of them.
Sega fucked it up first
>B before A
>Y before X
Why?
they read backwards in japan, thats why
Shapes because the ABXY layout can be confused thanks to Nintendo and xbox using it and having different orders to it
It's obviously ABXY.... Plus who the fuck uses 1234
Shapes, since there's reasoning behind them. O is confirm, X is deny, Square is "Documents," and Triangle is "Point of View."
This however got fucked when someone in America thought it would be a good idea to swap O and X.
I'd say both ABxY and the geometric shape button
PS layout will always be my favorite but I also like the ABXY or BAYX for their lack of syllables.
...
>PC
>neptunia
>plug in dualshock 4 into PC
>in game ABXY button images don't change to PS4 X, triangle, circle and box buttons
>can't tell which buttons do what
>unplayable
>uninstall, glad i pirated
ABXY is also much easier to type.
For PS buttons you can do O and X, and I guess delta for triangle, but what would you use for square?
this one
Wrong, see
...
[_] and V
The V is an upside down triangle.
It doesn't really matter it's all the same in america after ps2. Atleast between ps and ms
X/a = confirm
O/b = exit
square/x = punch or whatever
Triangle/y = some other shit depending on the game
I don't know jack shit about neptunia but at least I can see the command prompt is color coded
Symbols.
Because Xbox, Nintendo and damn near every other system use different arrangements of ABXY.
So jumping from those games to each other tend to cause a bit of confusion.

>I'm autistic and can't understand that the controllers are set up the exact same with the button scheme just different letters or shapes
But the colors in your controller won't match up unless you're using an Xbone one.
If you can't tell then you are an 89IQ retard
Triangle, pink, red and blue looks like obvious PS layout to me.

Congratulations, I solved your problem.
>Nobody has posted this yet
You're disappointing me, Sup Forums
Nah man, it doesn't work like that. Trust me, I tried. Every time I kept'd exiting a menu and had to keep re-entering. Say you're in the heat of combat. "Oh shit I need to press A to attack" "Fuck, which button is A again? Oh, it has to be triangle since it's green!" It's not, menu exited.
This, honestly. Plus, the original intended meaning behind the shapes is more thoughtful than just slapping numbers or letters on buttons.
Why don't games have an option for different button prompts?
Meant green, not triangle
triangle
round
square
FORK
but why would anyone post that in this thread
>I'm autistic and can't understand that some people are used to one controller and have to look down every 5 seconds when using a different controller with a new game they're not used to playing
ABXY obviously. Fuck nintendo and their BAYX nonsense.
Obviously Pyramid, O, Cross and Box are the standard
You haven't tried hard enough. Most people should be able to figure that out and memorize button positions through practice. Though really, you can just mod in Playstation buttons if you need it.
>I need to look at my controller
Are you 5, a girl or autistic?
Refer to
The SNES layout has been the best since it was invented. Sony's retarded symbol layout remains the worst.
Should just be color coded honestly.
I came here to laugh at you
North/South/East/West
That's why you learn the controls
They have the same exact button layout, nothing is changed. There's no reason to look down you're making yourself struggle. Good job
official power rankings
>official PC releases
XB1 or Steam controller
>emulation
Wii U pro controller with adapter
>straight to the trash
all Playstation controllers.
>Which controller makes most sense
>Nobody posting best controller
Playstation controllers are literally the most comfy. Not even memeing here.
>Steam controller
pffftahahahahaha
Female as hell, proof is that I watch PriPara
I don't know what your weeb garbage is.
>tfw no greek alphabet joystick
t. literal child who grew up with a Dualshit
They are objectively the worst controllers.
DS4 is pretty good, all that gimiicky shit aside. Can't go back to the DS3 ever again though.
It's a show girls would be into is all you need to know.
...
Because I want to learn the autistic controls of an XBOX controller when I've used the DualShock's all my life
triangle square circle fork
YAMEROOOOOO
Id like to see that actually
Yeah I grew up with Dualshock. My first console was the PS2. I've tried many controllers since then and I love Dualshocks the most.
⭕⬜
I understand where you're coming from, but there's four whole buttons to the combat system from the screens you've posted. Just take like ten minutes to learn the controls so you don't have to look at the big ugly button prompt on your shitty weebtrash game.
Also looking at this it's clear the button backgrounds are colour coded for the Japanese layout with O and X reversed, which probably makes the button order of the menu make more sense too.
I need to sue someone for this
t. literal child who grew up trying in vain to contort their hands around whatever misshapen piece of plastic Nintendo decided was a good design for a controller this month
I'm not the hyperdementiaweeb
>buttons have different shapes
>octagonal gate helped with inputs in fighting games
>light and comfortable to hold
That was perfect, why the fuck did Nintendo drop this layout?
I always called it hugs, kisses, cube, and trilateral.
Say that to my face punk
shapes are universal
>not pyramid, box, sphere, and crossroads
I'm not the hyperdementiaweeb
This makes too much sense, and I had never thought about it. N W S E counterclockwise would be the easiest controller to get used to.
Whoever says Xbox controllers are good, have fucking disgusting troll hands.
I bet you have hairy fucking knuckles too.
Well, alright then...
Playstation controllers are the best nowadays, but N64 was probably the comfiest I've ever played with.
The one you get used to
>always have to imagine a map to remember East vs West
No thanks
You're one of those 13 year olds from the old PS3 Vs XB360, right? Ps3 won in the end and Shapes have always been the best. They're universal. Like that one guy somewhere above said.
This
And this
Patrician taste coming through
Roman numerals > Arabic
>press 4 to jump
doesn't sound quite right to me
Only 16'ers won't understand this fightan meme!
it's assuming every button is used like it's a fighting game
1 = LP
2 = MP
3 = HP
4 = LK
left trigger = MK
right trigger = HK
Doesn't actually matter as long as the game actually supports the controller unlike the shitty ports they do to bring some games to PC, but I'm more used to the PS colorcoded shapes system.
all nintendo had to do to make it perfect:
>make c-stick more like a normal stick
>make both sticks clickable
>make another button above the left trigger
iterate on this design for perfection
also
>make the d-pad larger
The triggers were horrible.
None really make sense.
>AB but XY instead of YZ?
>do the numbers have to be in that order?
>shouldn't circle be where the x is?
what in the fuck are you on?
Why abandon the good old type A for 6 button fighters?
>AB but XY instead of YZ?
They took ABCXYZ and dropped the C and Z.
>shouldn't circle be where the x is?
The PS layout is based on the SNES layout, so O corresponds to A and X corresponds to B.
By the time I have children I will have probably converted my entire game collection to emulation.
I actually question how the next generation will play games. I will probably provide my kids with ABXY controllers, be they Nintendo or Microsoft controllers as a way for their little minds to not be completely blown by the PS symbol layout. I dont know, it's going to be interesting. It will be less uniform than what we grew up with.
