Is it really the best game ever?
Is it really the best game ever?
not when Bloodborne exists
Fuck no. A Nintendo action/adventure game? Maybe if you're a child.
Nah. Arguably wasn't even the best game of 1998.
I think so.
not when brave fencer musashi exists
it's not even the best zelda game, fuck off
My nigga
Yes, anyone who deny it is nothing but a contrarian hipster with shitty tastes.
That's not really fair. Imagine showing any modern game to someone 20 years ago. Of course they would like it more.
...
>Show people in the past no mans sky
>Open world meme dies forever
I saved video games
No. MM and WW (if sailing was much quicker) were better.
It's probably the most well balanced video game of all time. This game is what video games are suppose to be.
How can you say MM is better when its mostly just copy/pasta from OOT?
There were open world games since the early 80's tho. Using this logic, open world should've died forever 6 months ago.
You played it in 1998 then. So what was the best game you played in 1998?
Wind Waker would be a lot better if there were things to do in the sea. How many villages are in Wind Waker...I've only seen like 3, and I think I'm like 2/3s through the game.
MM is a lot different from OoT, beside graphics. WW is more similar to OoT, and it is worse than both previous game.
Half-Life, bitch.
Metal Gear Solid
No
It was when it came out though.
My own personal favorite from '98? Einhander But there were a lot of other contenders people were passionate about back then. Some would argue for MGS or Gran Turismo, some for Xenogears or FF Tactics. Even generally overlooked stuff like Klonoa or Panzer Saga still pull a lot of respect today. '98 was a really great year.
It's at least one of the most well-executed games for its time.
no this is
That's a good way to put it.
Neutral in every aspect. No personal bias involved.
Buck Bumble
for me, this is
I'm a huge Zelda fan with zelda shit all over my room, and even I think you're right.
"""No"""
>dumbed down dark souls
>best anything
Not even the best zelda game
No, but pic related is
Replayed it recently, It's still great game. Cannot say if it's GOAT but it's up there.
probably just whichever was the first 3d zelda you played, which for most people is ocarina
nah but majoras mask is
>pic related, also one of the best cartridges ever made
>Majora's sidequest
>Best anything
>Majora's shitty dungeons
>Best anything
>Majora's "Oh, you got all masks? Here take this one special mask that will make the final boss pisseasy and ruin the game" Mask
>Best anything
Are these zelda games actually good or just nostalgia?
Have them on dolphin but never gave them a try.
Yes
OP here, I just started playing Ocarina 3D for the first time in about seven years. Back then, I got to the Goron City and got stuck and got turned off the series for a really long time. I'm playing it now and think it's pretty good, and I don't have any nostalgia for it, so I'd say it's worth a try.
>shitty dungeons
thanks for proving just talking out your ass
Bait. Planescape is the only one that counts
Cool. I'll check it out.
Is MM any better than this? I like it, but some of the puzzles are either insultingly easy to the point of being busywork or frustratingly directionless.
Where are you?
That's a movie senpai.
Just got out of the first fairy fountain next to the crater so I'm really early in. When I say frustrating and directionless, I might just be retarded, so feel free to tell me if that's the case.
Relative to its time, yes.
The closet modern example we have is ""skyrim""
>has played basically piss-all
hot-take culture
MM is better
outta the way, nerd!
If you wear the Captain's Mask during his fight there's a funny scene that occurs.
3 shitty dungeons and only 1 is arguably fun. Majora's Mask is a piece of shit, nostalfags should really die. Majora's Mask is the worst Zelda ever.
This.
hope you're enjoying your evening lmao
It's not even the best game in the series by far. What it is is legit the most overrated game ever.
tetris probably is, everyone and their grandma has played tetris, there's a reason for that.
>most overrated game ever.
We're talking about OoT not Super Metroid.
Super Metroid is overrated as fuck, sure, but by a lot less people. Like a ton.
Red Dead Redemption exists, so no.
>dat main theme
the one mediocre dungeon was the tutorial dungeon famalam
you can go back to thinking twilight princess was the pinnacle of dungeon design though child
It's one of them, I played through it 9 times in my life only actually beat it for the first time a few days ago and there's always new stuff to discover like the biggoron sword quest, or the frogs that appear in zora's river when if you use the ocarina. it's one of those magical games that can never get old no matter how many times you play it.
yeah I think it is.
>nostalfags
It's not nostalfagging you fucking piece of shit
Storywise, gameplaywise, musicwise, contentwise the game is much better than every fucking Zelda game you'll ever play and don't dare to say no
youtube.com
Kondo's last Zelda soundtrack.
Ha! What? No, no, heavens no.
But it's a damn solid start, with great atmosphere and music.
The criteria for the best game ever goes like this:
>Is it Thief 2?
>No? Then it isn't the best game ever.
>when mgq exists
Yes. It's the best Game ever with ocarina it it's title on the Nintendo 64.
Game so good it shit all over the series
You know, I don't think it's the best from an objective, ignoring influence/nostalgia, pretend every game was released at the exact same time ideal, but I've played A LOT of older games all through my years, and I think even playing it today it's still a solid 9/10 (in terms of gaming journalism where a 6/10 means bad instead of above average like it should).
I think that goes to probably either one of the Prime games, RE4, GTA5, Twilight Princess, or the Galaxy games.
I'd be curious to know what people think is the best game of all time using that criteria. An easier way to think of it is to look at GamesRadar's list where they ranked Dark Souls #1 instead of Super Mario Bros or Tetris etc
let me also say that I think a lot of classic games are pretty bad today, like I thought SotC's gameplay/controls are pretty bad today (and I never played it when it came out so I don't have any nostalgia clouding it)
Also just remembered I might put Chaos Theory, Jade Empire, and MGS3 on my list as well
>Prime 1
>Galaxy 1 (even though I prefer 2 it's essentially an expansion, albeit a really fucking good one)
>Resident Evil 4
I'd definitely agree with those three.
Metroid Prime is hands down the most overrated piece of shit ever made.
OoT's 99/100 score is fair in comparison.
user it isn't even the best ZELDA game.
Is WWHD really that bad with bloom?
This game was fucking awesome. How come 5 was so boring? And 6 was hot garbage.
It definitely was for its time.
Not anymore through, it's been dethroned thanks to age.
even though the style is completely different the fact that 7 is apparently at least decent gives me hope for the future
The best game of all time is without question or hesitation Super Mario Bros. 3 for the Nintendo Entertainment System.
>not even the best Zelda with not even the best Fromsouls game
What is it about Majora's Mask that makes people cling to it so dearly? I haven't played it yet but I plan to after finishing Ocarina.
I like Link to the Past better.
Mainly due to the better combat.
atmosphere
Mikami and his team weren't involved in anything after 4.
>Shinji Mikami the creator of Resident Evil does not like where the current series is heading without his input, and he has revealed that Capcom offered him Resident Evil 5 which he did not play for a long time because it was created by someone else.
>Resident Evil 6 is the latest installment in the critically acclaimed franchise and it’s a bit on the action side. There’s a reason for this however as Capcom has revealed that true horror games don’t have a market and it’s imperative to add action sequences to make it more accessible and also sell more.
>“Yes, that’s right. That’s the problem,” he told CVG, when asked whether people are sick of zombies and movies. “When I saw the trailer for 6, it looks as though it’s more like a Hollywood action film than a zombie game. Well, that’s just the trailer mind you.”
>“I didn’t play Resident Evil 5 until a year ago, which was long after it came out. They sent me a copy, but I didn’t open it for a long time. Whether the game was good or bad, I knew that someone other than me had made it so it would be different to my style. I didn’t like the idea of that.
no
nope, tetris.
Next question.
>Next question.
What's your favorite flavor of ice cream?
OH SNAP!
Yeah, i think RE4 is def in top 3 SP campaigns of all time
not even the best game of that year.
It's good, but not the best.
Seems to get a lot of hate now that people are just parroting Egoraptor's shitty opinions influenced by his ADHD.
>6/10 means bad instead of above average like it should
stop this meme
>Egoraptor's logic isn't flawless meme
You literally can't find a flaw with this video.
youtube.com
To be fair, there was a lot of very strong competition that year.
it was one of the 2 games that i was hyped up to the extreme for and when i got the game it turned out to be even better than my expectations. the other game was morrowind
