BREATH OF THE WILD THREAD

For those who are actually playing botw and not shitposting, how do you like it so far? I'm really loving just how addictive this shit is. I've been playing for like 10ish hours just exploring and looking for cool shit. Haven't been doing main quests that much so this game is gonna last me a while.

Could you explain the weapons system to me? Are breakable weapons annoying?

I'm not playing it at the moment because it's not out yet.
Why would you assume that I was?

This

It came out yesterday if you're not a moralfag.

sorry, nintendo.

it was leaked.
deal.

I have a Wii U but I don't understand how to hack it.

If you have a brain and at least a 16gb sd card then you can do it.

Meh. Seems like too much effort. I'll just buy the game on Friday.

I'm tossing up between buying a bunch of new games I've been wanting to get around to; Nioh, Nier, Gravity Rush 2, or grabbing a switch for zelda once its no longer in pre-order only scarcity, which might not be till April if I don't want to pay scalp prices

so for those who have it, is it worth it?

Alternatively Wii U prices are dropping like crazy.

If you already have a wii u its not worth it to buy a switch right now and you should just buy zelda on wii u. If not then probably worth it because botw is 10/10

You ever play Dark Cloud? You get used to breakable weapons. Its not that annoying just requires a bit of strategy; which is nice.

Besides you get so many weapons in BotW that its hardly an issue.

How do you get new weapons though? Crafting? Enemy drops? I don't necessarily hate breakable weapons, it's just that I've never thought it actually made a game more enjoyable. Just seems pointless.

I don't know if there's crafting in the game yet, but mostly you find them in chests, off enemies, or laying on the ground.

Are there any streams going right now?

hmm, taken into consideration

I pre-ordered, but is the US .tik out yet? Or is there another way?

>Are breakable weapons annoying?
Not at all, once you get farther in the game you get sturdier weapons to use on better enemies. This bastard has an insane amount of health and yet my weapon lasted nearly the entire fight.

Are all the dungeons really brown ceramic animals?

Is that fucking ganon? Or just some random boss.

endgame enemy, not boss or miniboss

If you love this and shitpost about skyrim, kindly hang yourself.

Its a Lynel. They might as well be considered world bosses, they have way more health than any Hinox.

Quite possibly the best gameplay I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a video game

It's bad. The combat isn't really difficult at all and the physics stuff is pretty lame. They give you a gravity gun in this one like Half-Life 2 didn't come out 12 years ago and this is supposed to be some fresh new experience.
Glad I didn't pay for it.

Nice, can't wait to fight these shits. How the hell did you guys get so far in the game already? Maybe I'm exploring/messing around too much

badass.

have you found the monster-mask helmets yet?

Does anything in the Wii U version require the gamepad? Some faggot over on reddit was spamming that the shrines forced it.

When does the music kick in?

I just did the first shrine for Not-King Hyrule and it's weird that there's no overworld music

>my weapon lasted nearly the entire fight.
so it broke after fighting one enemy.

So what are Sheikah's? With all the technology and knowledge and shit they've had throughout the series you'd think they are either some progenitor race or aliens.

>368973438
It doesn't except for some dungeons and boss battles. And even then most of it is forgettable.

Overall the soundtrack is absolute fucking trash.

Are there ways of repairing or upgrading weapons? I'd imagine with the Master Sword being damaged that there would be some method of eventually repairing it

>that armor

goddamn it's fucking go time bravo Zelda

inside the dungeon mechs and in villages or key areas on the overworld.

most of it is very unmemorable. Like, in-game Kingdom Hearts levels of forgettable. It's all mostly ambient background stuff rather than catchy songs or anything usually in other Zelda games.

One shrine at least needs the gyroscope feature to build "bridges" to travel across platforms.

Also for those more into when does it pick up? i just reached Impa who said Ganon did bad things and that i need to find the 4 robot masters to fight him, its been a slog until now i'm about to drop it.

surprise: it wasn't actually created by BoTW's Sheikah.

But from a group distant Sheikah ancestors some 10,000 years ago.

>I've been sitting here thinking "okay maybe eventually the overworld music gets real good like it has been in every other game"
>these replies

What does buying the house and the plot of land do? Is there any function to doing it?

From what I've heard the Hyrule Castle theme is rad.

i find it harder to deal with since I really liked Skyward Sword and felt it had the strongest soundtrack of any zelda game yet. It is a pretty large contrast to come off replaying that before getting into this game.

It was a design choice. Minimal music to not distract you from the world or some shit.

I don't think you understand how much health he has, they even put one right near the start of the game before you encounter any guardians in a sectioned off area.

The house you can store stuff like weapons and armor with displays, or sleep in a bed. Don't know about the plot of land.

if anyone playing doesn't mind answering
is the master sword breakable
is there a quest to purify the master sword
is there a sidequest to get epona
with the game being completely open world/ non linear is there any nudge into the directions you should head in with story progression?
where is zelda in the beginning of the game
do you get to be with her long
do you get zelda and the other guys as temporary partners
is it true you can tame wolves

nigger that's like making a new GTA but you can't still cars from NPCs as a design choice

Yes
Yes
Yes
Yes
Zelda in a castle
No
No
Yes

how many hours have you been playing lad?

>the master sword is breakable

this has to be a joke. it's gotten slapped out of Link's hand by Ganon in practically every game at some point and it's always been completely fine

>Lynels are the true final boss of BotW

Assuming I actually have the game and have played it

About 20 hours.

How satisfying is shooting the bow with that bullet time?

Played like 15 hours now

Pretty good. I feel like its the only open world in the last 15 years that rewards exploration. Found some good armor in chests/shrines off the main quest path.

Hey at least they look the part unlike every other monster which looks goofy as fuck or Ganon who got redesigned into a 2spooky halloween mask.

Link is short. SHORT!

It could just dull like when you first find it in WW.

how do I record my Wii U?

This game is fucking GOOD.

I can't wait to play the Switch version on Friday. Taking this game on the go sounds like a dream.

I cannot fucking believe they made Link's default pose the power stance.

Every time I see a screenshot of this game I lose it.

do we know for sure, the amount of dungeons? that's all I want to know.

I'm using a really old HDpvr though component video. Looks pretty good all things considered.

4 plus final one 2 hidden ones I think, and several mazes

For those playing it, do you feel like it's the best Zelda to date? Honest question

knowing how the Wii U turned out I'm not buying a Nintendo Bitch for at least 3 years

though that's been the case for pretty much every console the past 10 years

Anyone who's made it to kakariko tell me: Is there a well? You know where I'm going with this

How big is the game's filesize on Wii U?

>"That new guy in town looks like he really knows how to tune a bow,"
>"I hope he comes by and nocks an arrow for me. It's been WAAAY too long." -Lonely Arrow Girl

>hidden dungeons

okay that's pretty interesting

what are mazes?

god no

there's no way in hell this game could ever replace Lonk to the Past, Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Link's Awakening, or Wind Waker

it is definitely up there, in my personal opinion. streams simply can't do it justice, it's just not something that can be fully enjoyed by just watching.

4 main and 2 hidden dungeons and a bajillion of physics test chambers.

Its like 13gb or something on Wii U and 14gb on Switch

I like the game a lot but hate the breaking weapons.

Anyone know how to defeat the water temple (hope that's not a spoiler?). There's the terminal in the small millwheel... none of the runes can stop it and I'm stumped.

Can you tame dogs and wolves and bring them with you like you can with Wolf Link?

I've seen people say you can before the game leaked but I'd like some confirmation if that's actually true from anyone who has played the game.

Has anyone found Cohorint?

How to hack Wii u and get this for free?

If i hack my wii u, can i still play online games on disc? Like smash, mk8 or splatoon. If not ill just buy Breast of the Mild

so are the hidden dungeons completely optional? are they as extensive as the 4 main ones? also, is the theory about the dungeons being inside the giant creatures in the trailer true?

(sorry for all the questions)

i swear to god, you better be able to FIGHT dark link.

There were people shitposting about how 20+ sets of armor isn't enough.

yes
no
maybe

USB Loading games onto the Wii U is literally just a legit version of the game loaded onto your external HDD, you just need CFW if the game has DLC or is eShop-only. Online works.

Here have an old video of me demonstrating from boot to going online in Sm4sh:
a.pomf.cat/mvigll.webm

I'm just going to be honest here and people can call by a sony shill or a shitposter all they like - but this game doesn't evoke the atmosphere or feeling of a Zelda game. Rather it feels like a Ubisoft open world game with a Zelda coat of paint.

The game itself largely fails in many of the aspects that make Zelda... well, "Zelda" and separate it from other game series.

Unique items you earn from completing dungeons or solving puzzzles? Nope - enjoy your runes and the hundreds of disposable weapons you have to grind and stockpile for.

Memorable and moving music? Nope, enjoy your """"subtle ambiance""" or just occasionally outright trash music with no melody or theme going for it, which doesn't sounds like something from Zelda at all, but from Pikmin or some generic JRPG instead.

Intricate dungeons, each with their own visual and gameplay/puzzle themes? Nope - enjoy beating only four measely half-assed dungeons which all feel the same because they have the same divine beast/magitech aesthetic design and all require the same runes to complete, rather than specific ones.

Want unique bosses tied to each specific dungeon? Nope - enjoy fighting the same basic corrupted guardian 4 times, each variation only using different weapons to differentiate itself, with laughable AI and reaction times to boot.

Oh, and the plot is bad, bland and just absolutely forgettable at large - even by Zelda standards. And I won't bring up the lack of enemy variety, as that's been discussed enough.

At least the NPCs still largely retain their quirky and likable Zelda charm. Though Nintendo really upped the waifu standards up for otaku and many of those said waifus come off as too forced in the anime cliche territory.

Overall I'm extremely disappointed. Zelda doesn't feel like Zelda to me anymore.

Shrines are worth it imo. You cannot get the master sword without doing them.

I'd say so. If WW was your favorite Zelda then this will be GOAT for you. It's on a level of it's own in terms of modern gaming though. Words just can't do it justice.

>1 second apart

There can only be one.

i think the people who are just watching the streams are just doing it either for the shitshow or to see the little bit of magic that is in the game that wasn't spoiled - which was basically everything unrelated to the plot, and there not being that much at all.

it's no disqualifier to have a bad opinion of the game just by watching it unless the only opinion you have is "i could play so much better wow the streamer is a retard" or otherwise trying to vicariously play it.

If the spoiler imagedumps and codedumps revealed there was a lot more content than I was afraid the game wouldn't have, I'd have stopped looking and just waiting til the game came out and probably would have enjoyed the purchase. But seeing how little is in the game was depressing and I don't care anymore, it's not the zelda game for "me" and i don't plan on buying it, so I may as well just watch to see what stuff like the dungeons are like.

I'd rather disregard the game entirely and pretend it doesn't exist, desu.

You can find one on your way to the Water Dungeon. You're given up a quest before entering the Divine Beast and this guy is standing between you and your objective.

You can sneak pass him or try to take him on. But he has a DS AI so be ready for quite a fight.

Have you actually played the game?

It's a fantastic game, it definitely could dethrone OoT.

He probably meant shrines which are small constructions on the map with puzzles inside where you gain orbs 2 upgrade hearts and stamina as well as better equipment, they looked pretty nice

Sorry friend. If you want a good vidya OST this month, you're stuck with Nier

youtube.com/watch?v=poGw2dPHgEI

Yes

I feel like a lot of the non-shitposting complaints are basically nostalgia-factor type complaints a la the infamous "Zelda Cycle". At least they seem genuine, but it's amplified by the massive amount of shitposting. I genuinely like this game and how it looks and plays from the streams, so I really can't understand when people claim they watched the streams and found it boring or empty.

Anyone have that pic of all the world bosses? Thanks.

Why are lynels literally the decent common enemies in the game?

They're actually fun as fuck to fight and challenging as hell.

Fast-paced as fuck health-sponge with several phases, like something straight out of Bloodborne.

They're also one of the few enemies in the game with a character design that feature a genuinely well-done and menacing character design.

It almost feels like the enemy itself was designed by a different dev entirely.

> Lonk to the Past
better

>OoT
>MM
gotta play this to 100% to see. it'll be close

>WW
better.

i don't know
can you repeat the question

>stuck with Nier this month
No I'm not
