Marginally improving on the original reboot rather than making an actually good TBS game.
The overhaul mod made it worse
Cenega XCOM is best modern XCOM. Obvioulsy, Poland is stronk.
Seconded.
>characters miss people literally in point blank range
the percentages make no fucking sense.
>what are stats and debuffs
Though in Apocalypse it was very unlikely to miss at close range. Firaxis are allergic to implementing actual projectiles for some reason.
your birth
I'm having fun with LW2
More damage/abilities/enemies = less tactical gameplay. It's just about killing them all in the first turn, or getting killed right after
Why did the snek men turn into real snek woman?
I quite liked it
I heard there were tons of bugs during the launch
Sequel to a bad game that adressed none of its faults and managed to make it even worse somehow, defying all expectations
>series has always been about killing aliens
>lets make 80% of the enemies in the game human (i know advent are alien hybrids but still)
>adressed none of its faults
Time limits were introduced for the express purpose of removing one of its bigger faults. Funnily enough that's probably a part of the reason why you think it's worse.
Pretty much this. Throw in the timers and you just cannot have a 2 turn firefight or you won't make it.
It got to a point that I didn't even know what a new enemy's attacks were like after beating the game because I would always kill them before they could use anything.
I love Xcom 2, Ironman is so much harder with the time pressures the game puts on you. I also enjoy the autistic level of character customisation.
but it doesn't adress the faults at all, it just further limits the range of your options
Game is still a mess where early game is a terrible rng experience where you have very few tactical options and need to resort to praying that things work out without someone getting btfo'd instantly by a high roll, while mid to endgame is still the same mess where you have so many overpowered options combat stops being a challenge and just ends up being a formality, and just kind of go along for the ride.
>free action
>blue action
>finally shoot
It gets pretty ridiculous. Still fun when you activate multiple pods though.
How is LW2?
For my part it was that it got way too easy as the game went on. Your characters just do more and more and more damage, and that's not even counting shit like the instakill attachments.
I played on the second to last highest difficulty, and even midway through the game I was killing entire squads in one or two turns. Shit was ridiculous. And enemies were also doing loads of damage, so the end result is that you never actually get into firefights. You either wipe them the fuck out or you die.
It got boring.
Release had horrid bugs and performance issues.
Bad mod support.
I was pretty disappointed with the character creation actually. I was hoping it would be as in depth as like TES or any other really good character creation setups. Not just picking from a few premade faces and then playing dressup.
dude I just rrealised the alien head is made of skulls
>99% = 100%
>80% = 20%
What went wrong was the DLC
>He thinks that the dice roll game should let him win if he rolls higher than 50%
>He doesn't purposefully prepare for when lady luck puts on a strapon
I generally like it but there are some really annoying decisions. Aside from the bug where it sometimes randomly swaps shit out anyway.
It lets you choose a preferred class, but it can give you them as rookies as well. Which is generally okay, except if you set someone as a Psi or something, they can still show up as a Rookie on the first mission and the GTS can't swap someone's specialization. Nor can you train a Psi Op out of another class, only Rookies.
Nicknames you give your soldiers can also only be like 5 characters long, which is retarded. I just want a good, modern TBS game that isn't extremely story driven.
nothing, it's good
>characters miss people literally in point blank range
reminder that turn-based combat is a gameplay mechanic.
Actual soldiers don't have that much time to take aim and the aliens are not just standing there waiting to be shot.
The enemies were no fun to fight against, like that teleporting cloning bitch and the fact that reinforcements come all the time
maybe I just sucked, but I liked Enemy within better
STEALTH. I JUST WANT TO SHOOT AYYS. LONG WAR 2 ISN"T EVEN FUN EITHER
Nothing was wrong save the bugs and fact you had a turn limit even during the *stealth* phase of the game.
Like what was up with that??
I wish these games allowed you to upgrade the human-made projectile weapons instead of having to transition into the alien tech.
in Xcom 1, everything had some kind of use and every class offered something great
in Xcom 2, you can complete every mission with nothing but a grenadier and sniper because everything else is damn near useless compared to everything those 2 classes
playing on the hardest difficulty shouldn't be the only fix for this
>80% that misses at point blank range.
>The strap-on is now hooked and comes with complimentary peroxide.
80% at point blank is still 80% user. It's not about what's onscreen, it's about the math behind the hit chance.
Also, if it's as low as 80% without debuffs, I severely doubt it's point blank.
>Not playing with a Phantom Ranger
>Not playing with a hacking Specialist
Grenadiers are strong as fuck, but if you don't have a ranger scouting the game will fuck you on anything harder than normal.
You aren't fooling anyone. We know you got your ass kicked and you're veiling it behind a 'what went wrong' post. GIT GUD
All other posters are wrong. What killed it was the same shit that killed Dishonored 2 and Mankind Divided
Shit performance
LW2 probly the single most difficult game ... ever?
if played on legendary/iron man
if it wasnt for crappy vision rules id day the difficulty is perfectly fine, but... vision is such a wonky/bad mechanic in xcom
the base game is a pretty standard iso game, cool if you like killin dem aliens.
LW2 makes it stand out though, despite its flaws
>Specialist
>Not the best class in the game by far
What did he mean by this?
The pistol would've been 100%
Was your soldier debuffed? Was the enemy buffed with evasion or something?
How the fuck did you let a soldier with such shit accuracy on your team? kek
Actually, why aren't lethal injections in this game like in the old X-COMs?
>Thinks the first video on a youtube search is the property of the poster.
Playing as terrorists is fucking stupid and doubly so when half of them have FUCKING SWORDS
It was good.
The game falls into the trap that many turn based rpg fall into.
Early game is hard, late game is easy.
>not editing the LW2 ini files for a comfy earth liberating experience
Timers
What changes did you make?
long war 2 is bad?
It's not a problem of 80% missing, that's just statistics and unlucky, but rather HOW the percentage is calculated.
Fucking Christ, you people really are uneducated NEETs.
You know, I thought I would hate the mission timers, so when I did a new game I turned them off. But then I missed them, and turned them back on. It's a cool way to do missions. Maybe not every mission though.
>What is XCOM: Enemy Unknown
given the narrative of XCOM2 it made sense. Mid and late game gets pretty alieny, you hardly see advent at that point.
We're not terrorists... we're freedom fighters.
If 99% doesn't mean 99% 99% of the time something is wrong with the world.
