Still no idea what does this mean
Did anyone notice that after you defeat the final boss shit goes everywhere as hollow knight explodes, and it looked like there were some letters on screen for a brief moment?
Thin you can find a frame on some YT video?
First time I hear it
this is easily one of the top5 games of the year and it's getting no attention because it released within days of zelda, for honor, horizon and mass effect.
kinda sad tbqh
So what's counted towards completion?
I was wrong. Just checked frame by frame and they're actually fragments of the chains that almost look like letters at higher speeds.
Its a mask design / blueprint
Who's mask, well... that still needs to be found
One of the biggest mysteries for me that I dont hear anyone adressing is who exactly is the main character
He's one of the void siblings created by the pale king, sure, but in the intro he comes to hallownest from extremely far away, implying that he's been gone for a long time. That just doesn't add up, why would he live for so long only to return now ?
Upgrades and charms collected, colosseum trials completed for sure.
Map progress and hunter diary don't count.
I just got the Kingsoul (and people still want to say he's not dead ok) and went to the Abyss and nothing happened.
Do I need to have it equipped? Or do I need to go to the Gardens first?
are there any rewards for the hunter diary?
EDIIIIIIINA
EGAAAAALAY
before that could you screenshot your kingsoul please I'd like to check the description again without having to go through the entire game and I forgot to screenshot it
and yes you need to have it equipped
Can you take a screen shot of the description of the kingsoul?
I vaguely remember reading something that suggested he is either the wyrm or somehow connected to the wyrm.
Where's the map for Resting Grounds?
I'm hyped for it, but I'm waiting for the Switch version. I love playing games like this handheld.
I think in the location under the Warrior Grave
Also, how do I get through the gate in the abyss? The one you need to to super dash off the lighthouse to reach.
there's an npc you can hit with your dream nail to learn that the main guy was created by the wyrm i think. i believe it's the big, dead mushroom mother in the fungal core. or the mask maker? i forgot.
>created by the pale king
Do we know they're created by him, and not that the king found the void?
Yeah it is weird how both Quirrel and MC come from CLiffs...
How do I get into the Hive?
Well, he did use the Void but he gave shape and meaning to it via Masks with the help of Mask Maker
Its not a gate, its a glass
You can't get in from that side, you need to enter from below, inside the cave where you get the dark dash and open a hidden passage
He didn't create the void itself, it's said to be much older, but he did become a master at shaping it
Is there anyway to check the completion percentage?
You unlock that feature by entering the black egg for the first time
Please show me
>Do we know they're created by him, and not that the king found the void?
It's not explicitly stated, but it's strongly implied that the location is a result of his experimentation.
I cannot find jack, I feel like I've hit every wall in that cave, is it by the statue or what?
Yeah it is filled with discarded/failed vessels
>Yeah it is filled with discarded/failed vessels
There door outside also says something that it's a place of regret that shall no longer be visited or something.
Nevermind, found it. Shoulda noticed that light sooner.
kinda hard to describe and the map doesnt show that particular path, sorry
Try to look for something that goes up.
It was before the fountain itself, not in that particular room
Yeah I;m curious how did Little Shadow managed to get into Cliffs... hmm.
finally got the good sense to turn off the generic indie game piano music in the city of tears and holy shit that atmosphere
yeah. City is pretty atmospheric
Kinda reminded me of Burmecia in FF9 and Hornet/Freya a bit
the discarded vessels are, but the place itself is much more ancient
The king built a lighthouse specifically to tame it so he could have a foothold there, and you can see how wild the void gets without that light keeping it at bay
I think the regret is meant to be the failure themselves, and that the place lost its purpose once a suitable vessel was made
>only video options are resolution, fullscreen, and antialiasing
>resolution only gives me 3 options anyways
shit game desu senpai
i'm just salty because my computer's too shitty to play it without horrible, horrible input delay
Any tips for the second Hornet fight? I'm getting my ass kicked.

Just got this game to stream and so far been enjoying it so far. I love the gameplay and controls seem really good.
i'm missing these, plz help
Soul Twister is either in Soul Sanctum or Resting Grounds.
Jone's Blessing is in Howling Cliffs and Lifecore is in the Abyss
It's in just the right sweet spot for an explosion of half-manufactured cult status. It's the kinda shit some cause-searching YouTuber would tearfully rave about.
They'll do alright. They'll have a long tale, and they've put themselves on the map.
Soul Sanctum.
To get the Lifecore you need Joni's Blessing, which is in the resting ground. You have to have 15 lifeseed health to open the blue door in the Abyss.
What I hate about these threads is that I want to talk about the game but I don't want people to actually talk about the game because of spoilers.
Anyway it's cool how Dark Souls' mechanics are being plundered by games whose selling point isn't literally "hey we're like Dark Souls you liked Dark Souls didn't you?".
>it's cool how Dark Souls' mechanics are being plundered by games whose selling point isn't literally "hey we're like Dark Souls you liked Dark Souls didn't you?"
nothing about this game is dark souls
>dark souls mechanics
Honestly its just the lives system that's trying to keep some penalty for dying in the age of frequent checkpoints
no
Sure, and that's my point. The mechanics are being used for their -- use, not for their association with a successful game.
How do I get to this area my dudes?
>Shape of Unn takes different forms when you have Baldur/Shroom Charms on
>original map from 2.5 years ago
Take the long way around from that underpassage you can see, untill you can unlock the locked door that's preventing you from entering through there
I can't even get to that under passage though
thanks man
That isn't even a souls mechanic, it existed long before. It's just neo Sup Forums idiots that never played any games before dark souls that think this.
Yes you can
I would know, I spent a long time making the same mistake as you and being confused, but there's actually an open way to that uncharted place that you missed
Dont do that
Thanks man I'll give it another go.
Missing a badge, my last one. Any ideas?
Love the little things in this game.
Also I wish I had more badge slots, or badge used less slots. you can't make use of tons of combinations. Speaking of, I'm missing one badge, and I have 9 badge slots. I think there's 10.
I got the badge slot from the Colosseum, are there any other non buyable badge drops in the game? I got one early on.
Found it! you legend
Original dream nail mechanics:
youtube.com
>this wildly successful game which was plastered all over the internet had absolutely no impact on the development of a game called Hollow Knight
Don't be stupid
Guys where do I find the map in Resting Grounds?
>Soul Tyrant
Stay still you fuck! I want to hit you with my nail.
That one is in deepnest, in the part under the part with all the centipedes, behind a fog wall
God I can't get away from that place. Do you remember anything more specific? There's only two centipede sections but they're not close to each other at all.
Since others are asking, I'd also like to know where my last few charms are found. I know the one selected is in the Abyss, but what about the other two?
there
Top Right is in King's pass.
Sweet.
WHERE IS THE OPTIMISATION PATCH REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
In order :
>in king's pass after the area with the spiked floor, in a hidden passage
>In Crossroads, in the area right before the false knight fight area (on the right), there's a breakable wall at a part where ceiling and floor are very close together
>in the abyss, go to the sealed door with all the blue stuff while having lifeblood core and joni's blessing equipped and not having been hit on the way down
Cheers
>horrible input delay
I hate that this is so prevalent in videogames, so much so that people will run certain games at 180+fps (even on 60hz monitors) to alleviate it. Input frames really shouldn't be tied to graphical frames.
This basically stems from the game engine. Input frames are tied to the Update loop in Unity, which is run 1:1 with graphical frames. Physics updates are run in the FixedUpdate loop in Unity, however, which is independent of graphical frames. The developer can choose to run their game logic tied to either one, but if you want to guarantee framerate-independence, you would normally run your game logic in FixedUpdate.
Here's the result: you end up with a game that keeps running during frame hiccups, but won't update user input during that time. This is a problem exacerbated by the fact that Hollow Knight seems to have lag issues, stemming from what I suspect to be entity creation and GC (based on the situations most people describe. Basically, I suspect they're not using object pools as often as they should be).
Anyway, when it comes to input latency / input not registering: there are ways around this, but they're going to be either hacky or pretty involved, and the payoff isn't all that great considering. At least Unity is going to start separating input frame from graphical frames "soon". Supposedly.
So what do I do with the King Soul?
Go back to the Void.
This is a general
WHERES THE MAP IN RESTING GROUNDS
>Salubra's Blessing
Goddammit
I'm laughing but
Goddammit
This is a game that came out like 3 days ago.
>Banish video games to /vg/, gospel for a better Sup Forums!
Welcome to Sup Forums
Generals are allowed for a window of 2 weeks after the game's release
Now fuck off back to your LOL threads
It does refill your SOUL tho
Ah I didn't realize that since my soul was already full. That's nice I guess.
>dark dash
What is this and what does it do?
colosseum bugged and didn't give rewards
devs haven't even mentioned they will be addressing this in an upcoming patch
my smile and optimism for 100% = gone
shadow upgrade to your dash
it gives you invulnerability frames during you dash, tho it has a cooldown period so its not every dash
You can also use it to go through those black fog walls
there's a good chance you'll be able to get the rewards from a new colisseum run once the patch is live
stay positive
RADIANCE
Okay, wow. This is fun, but goddamn there's basically no room for error here.
>still haven't 100% the game
>there's an achievement to 100% it in 20 hours
I'm sure I could knock off more than a few hours now that I know what to do specifically, but I don't think I can knock off 20 hours.
...
steppity step
Somebody please just tell me where the map for Resting Grounds is at
I got rekd my first few tries, but it didn't take long to get the pattern down after that.
Honestly not a huge fan of formulaic boss fights. They go from hard to easy pretty much instantly. Kinda makes them feel like QTEs once you have the pattern down.
In the same room as the tree, I think. The tall place with lots of ledges next to the moth.
