Will Squad be Shooter GOTY of 2017? Also A9 when?
Squad

lol no, stop forcing this mediocre game
will it have drebin?
Yeah, probably. The shooter genre is pretty much stagnated at this point. Everyone's just creating casual run and gun shooters, or half-assed attempts at tactical ones and Squad's the best upcoming of the latter.
A9 should be released soon like in 2 weeks, I'm hyped about the motorbikes
squad is worse than battlefield 2
also titan
also arma 3?????
>comparing apples and oranges
How can it be worse when it has the best gun feel?
I enjoy it, for what it's worth. I like seeing a game outright state that it's difficult, you'll lose a lot, and if you don't have a mic, you'll be a useless fucking clod to the team.
I'll be interested to see what they add in the coming years. Too large of a scale of battle and they'll just become a shittier Battlefield. Too small of a focus and they'll start being like a shittier Verdun.
Fucking this. Squad has pretty much the best gunplay of any game out right now.
Well, it already has a larger scale, so by that logic it would be a worse battlefield.
also fuck alpha 9, I want alpha 10 youtube.com
I really enjoy the game and I can tell you that it's got really bad, slow, clunky gunplay. Nearly as bad as RO2. Still a great fucking game, though.
>really bad, slow, clunky gunplay
I thought so too when I first started, but once you get used to how every weapon feels then it's not a problem.
Aww shit, nigga, free look. That's the one pet peeve I've had with the game.
haven't fully added the things they promised too, and because the game it was based off of (project reality) is running on BF 2 i keep checking in with it but ill play it more when the game is finally fucking finished.
I still find the gunplay in RS/RO2 to be a bit more, dunno, "snappier"?
this guy is a dum dum
Once vaulting is in the movement should be great though. I think Squad is as close to the perfect mix of large scale PVP as it can get, while still being relatively accessable. (Without joining an Arma group and downloading a gazillion gbs of mods)
>Will this already dead game be shooter GOTY of 2017?
You tell me.
>I still find the gunplay in RS/RO2 to be a bit more, dunno, "snappier"?
The gunplay in RO2 is run and gun casual shit and way too fucking accurate and easy to handle. ADS from movement is far too fast and accurate, it's like playing Counter Strike, the way you can peek and the way the peeker has the advantage. It's awful.
It'll never be elevate itself to the scale of its predecessor.
Unless the devs actually change their opinion on the future of the game.
They are trying to make it "accessible" to those dad-gamers that only have 20-30min to play.
Thus keeping maps small and rounds short.
This kills immersion and scale. Also limiting the kind of assets that can be added to these small maps.
None of the current maps are large enough to support MBT warfare in any reasonable scale.
Helicopters and jets are completely out of the question.
Current vehicular damage system is simple and poor. Ballistics are simple and bullet penetration is poorly simulated at this stage.
They need years of development time for the game to become a worthy successor to Project Reality.
>1k average players
it aint fucking dead
Maps are already as large, some larger than most PR maps though?
Scale needs to be atleast twice as large at is right now to make heavier assets useful.
This is also true for logistics and transport. There is no need for transport helicopters if you can just run from one flag to the next in one minute.
Heavier assets like artillery, mbt's, attack helicopters, cas aircraft etc would require the maps to actually be huge.
I'd like a huge scale. This would actually make teamwork a requirement instead of a bonus.
"Gee, next flag is 2km away, glad I can call a transport heli to drop off my squad"
"Well fuck, enemy has dug in on the edge of town. It's nothing our T-72B3 can't take out with HE-FRAGs tho."
^ thats the kind of teamwork I'd like to see.
Have you see Yehorivka and the upcoming Gorodok expansion? bigger maps are coming.
Yes, but current sprint speeds and stamina amounts make them feel smaller.
Yehorivka would be better if they'd move the flags further apart from eachother.
If they add more of the 4x4km maps and tune the running speed a bit, game has potential.
>anything worse than arma 3
At least squad doesn't need 80 mods to make it functional
Bigger maps are on the way, they've said. I also think they've confirmed crew-served mortars and the like for FOB emplacements, which I'd absolutely love to see.
is that a problem for you?
the launcher does it for you maybe your computer and or Internet is shit?
It's a problem when half of them inevitably break the game because arma is a complete piece of trash
The community around the game is pure cancer too
are they going to add 16x16km maps?
just play the BF2 mod, jesus christ user.
why? they only thing the BF2 mod does better is that you can run it on a toaster.
now you're baiting. The BF2 mod simply have way more features.
You're throwing your shekels at an early access indie game. Just wait for the full release in 3 year, then we can say it's superior.
PR has horrible gunplay and that's enough to put me off
>The BF2 mod simply have way more features.
If you mean features by more content then you are correct, but gameplay wise squad is miles a head.
why wait 3 years? Im enjoying it right now.
nope, biggest so far is 4x4
Surely they will once we get choppers right...
they are talking about 8x8km which is still small imo, there's an fps on steam called Fog of War which also use UE4 and that game even has 25x25km maps with 100 players.
