Ancient ayyliens are an okay idea, they're already a canonical thing in the Zelda verse thanks to MM and with so much technology focus in newer games now, it's pretty much becoming a case of the goddesses being ayys themselves. Not to mention that the original concept for the Legend of Zelda took a sort of Chrono Trigger/Alex the Kidd approach in regards to futuristic sci-fi time travel and the Triforce being a reality-bending piece of ancient ayy technology.

Zelda in a modern setting is a fucking trash and retarded idea though. Glad that was canned.

I like how they ended up using the "modern Hyrule" elements. They just ended up being in the backstory, 10,000 years priors to the events of the game itself.

Nintendo has always tried to mix Zelda with sci-fi shit and they'll probably go full retarded sooner or later, though.

They could always do a "Blood Dragon" thing and reuse BOTW's base and go from there. Goofy modern times AU w/ aliens would be dope to see at some point.
