Oh and there is no need for archiving since we already have pretty much entire retro games archived.
The only thing you can't emulate is xbox which has like 10 games worth playing and some old arcade games which even your father in law from russia never got to chance to play

Dreamcast looks way better since VGA mode has tons of jaggies so in 4k it doesn't cut your eyes.
PS2 is fine too but if the emulator was done better, too many game has missing graphical elements or just runs bad even on higher end hardware.

Why are you so fixated on PS2?
It's the only console that has those problem in small amount of games BUT ONLY when ti's upscaled meaning that it can look identical to PS2 in software mode or even better with graphical tweaks, not only that but all of that runs better then the normal console release so everything can be 60 fps and not drop frames like PS2 usually did.
So yeah, that sounds like emulating is actually better then playing on real hardware.

You can easily change graphic problems by changing the right setting OR playing in software mode which looks identical to consoles but has better framerate and you can still apply certain graphical tweaks making emulation much better then playing on real hardware.

You're not guaranteed better framerates or resolution when emulating though. Some still look and run, like shit, because they're not properly optimized.

Y'know with the old consoles all we had to was put the game in and play, not mess around with tons of graphical options to get it at a decent level

Archiving games is not for the purpose of you taking a file and playing it on regular console, it's to preserve the files and if needed you can play it on a modded console which everyone already has if it's in terms of xbox

So hacking/softmodding an original Xbox will allow you to play games directly from the HDD without needing to go out and buy physical copies of the games right? Can you use an external HDD to store games? Because I don't think the Xbox's original HDD is large enough for very many games.

You have to clone the original hard drive's contents into the replacement hard drive first. It's easier than it sounds. You can probably find an instructable or wikihow telling you how to do it

The Metal Wolf Chaos iso is archived on the internet. There is no reason to own a physical copy of the game, especially for archival purposes when the digital file will objectively have a longer lifespan than the physical equivalent. The hardware required to play said file was never brought into question.
