It gets a bad rap here because of memes and the story doesn't do the MGS series justice and it has cut content.
But even with all that, the game itself is absolutely incredible. Really makes me wish they let Kojima go full retard and sink more money and time into it. I'd have waited another year or two for it.

Sunk 35 hours into ffxv before not wanting to pick it up ever again. Replayability is massively hindered by the lack of things to do. Most quests feel like they were pulled from some MMO files.
I was expecting rewards, something along the lines of 10+ outfits/armor to help with different areas. But you soon find that all of the combat/enemies/locations are the same, leaving little variety. The most fun I had was putting the auto-rotate ring on and equipping 4 uselessly bad weapons. Then, the game at least looked semi cool to play.
I assure you it wasn't.
