Phil Spencer is genuinely a pretty great guy and I think he's doing his best to drive gaming forward at Microsoft. Even taking risks this year, pushing out an RTS as the first game of the year, letting Rare make an actual game, and even reviving a dead series.

Did Metzen ever do anything to "fight for our freedom"? Last I checked all he cared about was snorting coke and ruining Warcraft lore before he retired.

The industry has changed quite a bit in the nine years since CoD 4 came out. 5 years ago people fumed at the idea of Activision annually releasing Cowadoody and Guitar Hero. Now the latter is dead (again) and the former pulls in hundreds of millions but exists in a space where potential sales care more about making video games more artistic/inclusive or have no interest in putting down 250 dollars for a console and CoD when they can use that same amount on the latest iphone and get a slew of lousy phone games. Their skylanders brand is dead, they've yet to replace it. The industry just isn't as easy to milk as it was years ago. But hey, I bet Activision still makes enough for Kotock to clear tens of millions annually so I bet he's still pretty content.
