Is Bomberman R good? I've heard some conflicting things about it.

Great multiplayer and okayish story if you can handle an episode of "autoconclusive generic superhero cartoon"

7/10 for me.

As a complete Bomberman newfag, the multiplayer alone is pretty worth it. For veterans, maybe wait for a price drop unless you really wanna support the series.

Multiplayer is good fun and the single player is decent enough, but its not worth the $50 asking price imo

The nip dub is much better, but it's still a generic plot. It's also hilarious that normal is translated into "Veteran" for all other languages. Controls are a bit glidy if you only use the controller as halves. Not every mp map is unlocked at start, and you have to get them through collecting enough coins in SP, which you get after beating a world.

Campaign is kinda shit for a Bomberman game. I'm surprised they actually charged 50 bucks for the game.

party edition's normal mode is just nes bomberman shit without any gameplay upgrade beyond getting rid of clunky physics which were a part of that game's charm while battle mode has a very weird separation into 3 modes with different content for little clear reason, the whole thing is also butt ugly and has mediocre soundtrack
tournament's battle mode isn't anything standout and is a bit thin in content, never finished normal mode but it seemed okay

i was excited for a new bomberman title until i saw the awful looking multiplayer. yeah i'll have the same amount of fun as Super Bomberman for an hour or so until the title is dry and stale. this shit will never live up to the 100s of hours of Bomberman 64 my friends and I had as kids,. but by all means pay 50 bucks for a game that is no better than a phone app. isometric gridlocked garbage.

It's better than the nostalgiafag nintendo 64 games in almost every aspect except for the story (still the n64s were too much predictable/star wars rip off).

The only cons are the prize and the lag in multiplayer, and maybe lack of stages in story.

I liked the cutscenes, they were cheesy and funny and had surprisingly decent acting, but the actual stages in story mode are arse. Boss battles were great though, first time in a long time a CPU got the drop on me.
