Obviously when his claw gets knocked off he loses it, but what changes when his mask gets knocked off? His demonstrations didn't say anything

He does more damage and takes more damage I believe.
You get a 7f of input lag instead of the usual 8.
dead meme they got it down to a slightly less heinous 6.5 frames
I guess I got left behind
Memes aside, why does Vega wear the mask?
Too beautiful to share to the world.
To protect his face. Legitimately.
I think that was only in previous games. Now it just enhances his combo potential on normals.
>Now it just enhances his combo potential on normals.
that sounds neat, like what?
This guy is wrong:
It increases the damage he does by 10% and increases the damage he takes by 10% in SF5. It changes nothing about his combos.
So you're saying that it's extremely painful.
Why did they have to add these nasty ass nails?
Losing the mask? Not him but Vega does that because he goes furious when he realizes his beautiful face is open for harm.
I hope to god they make hp aurora spin edge faster, that's all I really want
They seem to be pretty resistant to it. HP ASE he insanely good hitboxes but it's completely unusable outside of niche corner combos against tall characters because it's too fucking slow.
I guess the problem is that, if they made it any faster, Vega's AA game would be incredible because that thing even hits cross-ups and can be comboed on hit.
How are you guys feeling about kolin ?
I'm having a blast playing her, I still need to figure out a lot of stuff though but there's probably some interesting thing to do with the falling fireball.
She's probably junk.
A setup character with bad normals, slow walk speed and low damage. You may as well play Ibuki instead.
I don't know man I think she's fun, although I do have some trouble getting in, as I said I'm still trying to figure things outbut she seems to have some potential.
only time will tell.
I dunno, his aa would still be garbage unless he's wearing the claw, so knocking it off would derive him of his only decent aa.
She's solid mid tier.
Slow walk speed does not matter when you are supposed to dash, ice skate and counter most of the time anyway. The damage is low, but that's because her counter tools are top tier, which in turn allow more punishments and damage.
Ibuki is rushdown, Kolin definitely is not, although she is capable of some mix-ups as well.
>only time will tell.
I kind of doubt it. There are pretty much set prerequisites for what makes a 'good' character in SF5, and she has none of them.
Play whoever you think is fun. I play FANG and Vega personally, so I'm not going to judge. They're both in the lower tiers too.
...
>I dunno, his aa would still be garbage unless he's wearing the claw
His clawless AA is currently passable. You have to be pretty careful about your ranges, but c.HP and s.HK work fine. It's c.HP (claw) that's kind of a piece of shit.
Besides, it would differentiate between claw and clawless more. Currently, clawless is still much, much better than claw stance - despite Capcom's efforts to reverse the situation.
This is why Sup Forums shouldn't talk about fighting games.
>dash, ice skate
That would be fine if either dash or skate were remotely fast. She's slow as shit in every respect.
>parries
Gimmicks that will work in the first month until everyone starts empty jumping and parry-baiting her into oblivion.
Yeah definitely, I'm a Karin main and god does it feel good to actually have correct anti air.
Either Vskill countering jumping or HP crush counter into juggle parabellum (qcf) feels so satisfying.
Karin would be literally perfect with anti air buttons like that, one can dream.
Chris G and Floe have both said the same thing. Nobody thinks Kolin will be good.
Floe only said she wasn't any good for him because he likes to play neutral and footsies, while she's more based around setplay and mixups.
She does have low a low damage output, but so did rahid in season one, and look at him now.
Speaking of rashid can we take a minute to say how fucking annoying it is to fight this cunt now ?
Friend of mine is a rashid main and god it gives me headaches playing with him
What do you guys think of Vega this season? Maybe it's just me being a shitter, but I feel like he's gotten worse this season compared to the last one.
10% less defence, and 10% more attack power.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with her dash speed. Skate is mainly an offense/mix-up tool, moving simply comes with it. If you walk with her, you are doing everything wrong.
Her counter attacks will work just as well as Ryu's parry and Zangief's armor do now, which both are a necessary and useful part of their gameplan.
Also, to add to my previous post, her normals are also great: st.mk, st.mp, cr.mk all great, st.hp very safe as well.
I doubt you are a Platinum or higher player.
>Speaking of rashid can we take a minute to say how fucking annoying it is to fight this cunt now ?
No kidding. He's incredibly good now. Easily one of the best characters in the game.
Fuck me, though, Rashid players are universally mashers. Even in platinum, every single Rashid players just hits buttons all fucking day with no regard for + or - frames.
it doesn't matter really, if you punish something he'll do an ex spinning mixer, if you don't he'll build grey life for days, he's got some bullshit ass crossups in the corner too.
Worst thing though is that one of his combo finisher is supposed to be +3, and you should be able to punish or at least take your turn, but what really happens is that if rashid jabs he still have the priority and will counter you which is in every aspect retarded.
rashid is a fun character I want to learn but I'm just not used to rushdown divekickers
A month or so ago I ran into a Rashid who had what I can only assume was a blockstring psuedo-infinite.
I looked at the frame data for each move and I couldn't punish it at any point, even though my buttons should have beat his.
For reference, I think it was standing short, crouching jab xx LP Spinning Mixer.
that's probably what I'm mentioning here.
Forgot to mention but if you start to stop pressing buttons they will just grab you instead.
V reversal is your best friend against rashid.
yeah Rashid is probably my most hated match up. Even though he's -2 on spinning mixer, I get beat out by his st.lk when I hit my 4 framer. I don't know if they just space it correctly, there's lag, or I just am balls. I even practiced the timing in the lab, but to no avail. His wall jump also beats out my aa attempt way too often.
t. alex main
>Also, to add to my previous post, her normals are also great
You are kidding yourself. Apart from being stubby, the advantage on her medium normals is mediocre as fuck. Her pressure game is actually terrible.
How do I beat FANG? He's the only character I can't beat and it humiliates me
Perhaps "great" was an exaggerated word, but her normals are definitely solid in general. What comes to her pressure game, as said, she is a character of methodic patience, but she also has great mix-up pressure potential with those ice blocks and overhead cancel skates when needed.
Rashid players will always press buttons after light spinning mixer. It's fine if you have a 3f to throw out. I have a lot of success just hitting Vega's s.LK. Sure, you get EX spinning mixered occasionally, but that's fine.
If you don't want to hit a light, just delay tech. An intelligent Rashid player might blow that up but 90% of them are just unga-bungaing their way to victory anyway so don't worry about it.
skate will be used for space control similar to decapre. Also, there's some interesting setups that involve her iceball into dash.
Her walk speed isn't terrible, but definitely serviceable.
Once you get the knock down, oppress him as he has no 3f and no reversal. If he fireballs in a blockstring, throw or use a punish that advances you past the fireball. As for the trap, Idk really how to punish that upclose.
Because the ungrateful world doesn't deserve to see his beauty.
Skate is a space control tool as well, yes - which emphasizes the fact one does not need fast walk speed with Kolin anyway. HK skate overhead will be combined with ice blocks for certain setups as well.
Which character do you play? Generally, don't jump attack, since FANG has good AA's, and keep on him for as long as possible, using lots of frametraps to bait his attacks, since all of his moves are fairly slow.
He is a narcissist and wears the mask in battle to protect his perfect face which he worships.
I used to play Vega (he was the only character I could beat him with), Chun, Urien, and Zangief. Now I play Kolin.
What do I do about his EX dash on wakeup. Throw?
So the balance patch has to drop this week, right? Otherwise, they won't be in time for CPT.
You probably can do meaty 2MP OS 2MK

What'll happen to these when he starts to play the next flavor of the year
Scrub.

Bump
Vega is the season 1 zangief of season 2
Is Zangief the scariest grappler now? Holy shit he's fucking scary when he knocks you down
how can we use meme magic to make this handsome nigga loved by everybody? just like Sup Forums put thrump in the white house
please explain the left behind meme
i see it all the time on /r/kappa
Yes. Mika still beats him out in corner blender time though
Why is he so angry and frustrated all the time if he looks like that? Ungrateful fuck.
its an act, dummy. hes literally the black dsp
HATERS
cause he is 32 and has made it no where in life
There's no way that isn't photoshopped, I can tell because I've seen some terrible shops before
its not

Yeah, Vega sucks. The worst thing about it is that everyone who doesn't play him insists that he's better in season 2. No, no he isn't. He was nerfed.
>Is Zangief the scariest grappler now?
By far. His oki options are fucking nuts. Using knee hammer and quasi-OS'd SPD, he can catch backdashes and jumps on reaction.
>Bad normals
HAHAHAHA
>HAHAHAHA
Her normals are objectively bad. Poor range, mediocre frame data. Go have a look at FAT if you don't believe me.

can you ALWAYS combo off of fMK? Seems like I'm not able to sometimes
that's pretty cool, are there other ways to use V trigger in a combo ?
What you posted is fine but it needs 2 meter.
Activating right after the target combo and dashing three times to time a meaty is what I do.
that was a counter hit in the webm so I guess that's why.
it hit meaty and was also counter hit so gave it extra frames to confirm.
yeah I checked it out, it's +1 on hit so it should be about +3 on counter hit, even excluding the meaty.
>2 full jump-in combos, 3 counter-hits, 3 bars and 2 v-trigger activations
Yeah, colour me unimpressed. Your opponent would quite literally have to be mashing as hard as they can to be hit by this shit.
Just checked without counter hit friendo, still works. Just have to change the combo if heavy hailstorm hits to to ex parabellum into heavy vanity step for the cross up into death.
Second jump in was in stun.
why is parabellum a mash input as well as a fireball motion ?
also why is it ten times easier to mash an attack in V that it was in IV ?
I mean last time I played IV was a long ass time ago but I remember that I had trouble doing those inputs, here you literally have to press the button three time in a row and you're set.
>also why is it ten times easier to mash an attack in V that it was in IV ?
Larger buffer window.
Lol are you playing SFV?
no one fucking blocks, everyone is mashing on wakeup. counter hits are always hitting if you arent ashitter
ah that makes sense.
I spend the meter to put them in range for the heavy hailstorm meaty because if it hits i get the h.p combo and if they block the h.p i can medium vanity step into overhead or low. So the hailstorm mostly is what i use to confirm which is why i wait but you can hit the h.p earlier if you have the reactions for it.
>no one fucking blocks, everyone is mashing on wakeup.
Not at plat and up they aren't. The game is old enough now that everyone knows when they can and cannot mash.
sonybro
nintodler
pcbro
xbot
that's pretty cool, i'll try this out.
I was too lazy to check it out myself but do you have to block the other way if the hailstorm is behind you, or is it always blocked by holding back ?
Always by holding back.
But they don't know that.
In SF, you always block by holding away from your opponent. This applies when projectiles or aegis reflectors or whatever are behind you.
That's what I thought.
Alternatively if they DO know you can still jump over them when it's falling.
I don't think her hailstorm works well in neutral, its better to rely on her h.p, b.hk to keep people away.
Also air throw and anti air jab.
How do I deal with rashid as alex
So will Vega get cucked again alongside FANG next balance patch? I don't need him to pull a Laura, I just want some fair buffs.
I hope not. what would you have them change? I'm the guy that want's hp aurora spin edge to just be faster so its a reliable aa
That I can agree with. Also fix the hit box so they don't have to basically be standing on your head for it to actually anti air. Bad hitboxes are a problem he suffers from way too much. His claw hitboxes are just unforgivable.
They should revert the changes to EX roll and the cancel frames on his clawless mediums so Vega gets his frame traps back and can actually convert to some form of damage at nonpoint-blank ranges.
I need some pure buffs for Claw stance.
There is something very wrong with a game where Vega without the claw is better in nearly every way.
this shit right here, f.hp claw crush counter spinning launches but I can't get an ex wall dive off it like I can with a basic target claw-less mp-hk
Buster claw is so fucking shit it isn't funny. Why should I ever take the risk of using that move when it leads to nothing and is unsafe as fuck?
>I need some pure buffs for Claw stance.
Just bite the bullet and let him cancel his c.MP (claw). Everyone bitches about how it would make him broken because of the range but, to be honest, he won't be able to cancel into roll anyway because of the shitty range and FBA will require his opponent to be standing. Plus, the range on c.MP (claw) is fucking awful anyway, despite how the animation looks.
Currently, the risk/reward for playing footsies with Vega is so skewed against him it isn't funny. Why should I throw out medium normals for 60 damage and risk eating Urien's s.HP on a whiff punish for like 300 damage?
