First game I ever bought DLC for. One DLC was a weapon pack that came with a harpoon gun, which you could use to attach enemies to your car then drive around with them flopping around.
Also the way your car transformed as you leveled up. Goddamn why has no other game copied that.

A black kid in school let me borrow this, gta III and def jam new york after I lent him need for speed underground 2, I told him that if I liked any of these games I'd be willing to trade (I had two copies of nfsu2, mom and dad bought the same game), gta didn't click with me until I tried san andreas way later and I found 50's game too silly but goddamn what a masterpiece def jam was, you'd think it was made solely to shill unknown rappers but no, it had amazing graphics for the time, tight gameplay, limb damage, good music, great customization sans for the voices (white guy, wigger, nigga, deep voice nigga, the niggest) and cool fighting styles that could be mixed ie kickboxing with street fighting, karate with wrestling, submission etc, it was hard as balls too, I remember I lost about 40 times in story mode to some guy who jumps you in the parking lot, you fight with 70% health, limbs at half health (the fucker hit you with a metal pipe before hand and his two fighting styles are karate and submission) and in a cramped arena, I specially liked how snoop dogg was the final boss and you throw him out of the window, this game is underrated as fuck, I highly recommend playing at least once.
