Here is what I don't get. PS4 Pro GPU is quite powerful still can't run games in 60fps

I know the CPU is not the best one but is it really the reason why most games can't reach 60fps?

developers don't optmize their games. Nier Automata is almost identical on PS4 Pro except for less frame drops.

Boost Mode is in beta stage perhaps it can fix most of the issues

Here's your problem

It's running on top of the PS4 dash with a shitton of background processes and an always-ready overlay. The 7870-based GPU is by no means a shitty architecture, since it was one of the best values of it's time, but a chunk of the GPU/CPU is being reserved for OS features itself. If the PS4's single dedicated function was installing/running games after popping them in, then you'd probably get the grafix/speed it deserves

GPU/CPU reserved for the OS system? I think only 3GB ram are dedicated to it.

4.5GB isn't a whole lot to work with when it's shared

on PS4 Pro is 5.5 GB only dedicated to games.

60 fps is close to meaningless
there have been games running at 60fps for 30+ years

The thing is that it really isn't that powerful at all.

The biggest problem is the processor, its still the cheap laptop one since changing it will make game incompatible, the other problem is that even if they made the cpu better only a a few games will take advantage of it.

Wrong, the CPU is shit and of they used a 4 core Intel instead of the shitty jaguar it whatever the fuck they could hit 60. The reason why ps4 pro is a meme is because they put in a better gpu but didn't wanna cash out the shekels for a non shit ipc cpu

Developers choose the framerate. It isn't the hardware that dictate it.

The reason that games don't run at 60fps is because they want to have incredible physics/graphical fidelity.

it is 5gb for the games and 5.5gb on ps4pro.

It should be said that it is very fast 5500mhz ram however.

you have no idea how technology works.

PS4 has dedicated CPU/RAM for OS. Probably the only console doing this.

Close but the reason the PS4 Pro is not a big power jump is because they want the Original PS4 to still run the same games as the pro, if they broke that "almost parity" then the 40 million people that bought PS4s before the Pro was announced would have been pissed and the backlash could have even hurt confidence with the Pro as consumers would just think Sony is going to dump it in no time to make an even more powerful console quickly.

Go look at the fill rate and it becomes apparent where the GPU skimps out.

I always think that pushing graphics is an easy well to sell a game and make people upgrade their GPUs

Let's say a 1070 in 2 years will struggle to run garbage by Ubisoft, EA, etc in 60fps so people will upgrade to 1080. In 4 years the 1080 will struggle to run games in 1080p ultra and people will end up playing 2K 30fps or 1080p mid settings

Developers just throw a bunch of visuas and dozens of settings and call it "a complete game" while in fact is a game in alpha stage 0 zero code optmization and virtually no code revision to detect the hardware its on.

Mafia III looks good (visuals) but it's broken. It can't even be fixed by patches because there are so many bugs, AI problems and hit detection issues I'm 100% sure the game was released in alpha stage with a few tweaks

Nier Automata will not run perfect 60fps in ultra settings as people think. That is if they even include graphical setting.

this is embarassing to ead

By making PS4 Pro virtually identical to PS4 with more power they extended the life of PS4 to 2020.

With the original PS4 Sony would need to release PS5 early in 2019 and that's not a good idea since they are slowly starting to profit from the Playstation brand.

Soon the PS4 Pro will be sold for $299 and the Slim for $199.
