pirating is just conterfeiting, but doing it extremely well
If you made a copy of the candy bar, that would be the same as downloading a copy of the game without paying.
The pic you used answers your question you dumb fucking
I will steal and play your favorite video game and there's NOTHING you can do about it.
if you copied the candy bar and enabled everyone else to copy it, the original candy bar value is worth less.
I made a better guide.
No intent to buy game ----> no lost income for developers.
Now go shitpost on reddit some more.
Is piracy the reason why the 3DS is dead now that the Switch has released?
>welp, chink-san. the 3ds has been cracked open and there's nothing we can do to differentiate the difference between fake title keys and real title keys
>but....since we're releasing the switch soon, let's just forget about the 3DS. it is a lost cause
>agreed chinito san, this is what we will do
counterfactual income is literally not real income, neither legally nor philosophically
you're not entitled for your capital goods to be worth anything at all
Income isn't warranted. You can't stock potential income.
list the studios that have gone under due to the illegal copying of game files.
not totally justified unless done very occasionally or for demoing.
if done frequently, you'll be just be pirating out of habit. the line where it's drawn as morally wrong is blurry
The 3DS is almost dead but it's definitely had its time in the spotlight. Piracy didn't kill anything but having the Wii U cracked definitely made it easier for them to stop production and go full focus on the Switch, and is why they do asinine shit like not have a web browser on release.
rune factory 4
Story of Seasons Trio of Towns
DiC
who was in the wrong here?
Umi
a game not selling well doesn't mean it didn't sell well due to illegal copying of game files.
>income that was never in your possession to begin with can be stolen
You can't "steal" potential income. Piracy isn't theft, it's copyright infringement
Even with piracy they went to the space anyway
uni is wrong. it's only "underhanded" because she has the gall to shame them; she's the problem
People pirate because it's ez to do and people rarely get caught
Everytime you use a photocopier, you're pirating the original work. Somebody needs to put those evil office workers in jail for the good of humanity.
>if the creators do not find enough joy in that, it is their talentless excuse!
is CFW brave /ourguy/?
>dirt poor, only 7 dollars to my name
>realize that I can steal income by pirating
>pirate Skyrim a bunch of times, get rich
>use my newfound stolen income to take out a mortgage and get back on my feet
Thanks piracy
"Stealing income" isn't a real thing.
Almost forgot to pirate some money for myself today. Thanks for reminding me OP.
would you blame a man to download a bread to feed his family?
what about you pirate something else?
>guaranteed income
top kek
If a pirate couldn't pirate your game then, get this, it's highly unlikely they were considering paying for your game in the first place.
I'm gonna make a video game and my anti-piracy measure will be a thank you at the end to make you feel bad. That'll bring the money in.
Do you feed your family with video games?
no with my stolen income obviously
I'll pirate you
That image assumes that a pirate would have bought the product if they couldn't get it for free. This is almost universally untrue.
If official game installers played chiptunes I'd never pirate, honestly.
>create a product that's extremely easy to copy, then ask money for it
>surprised when people do the former instead
It's like charging money for air
Wait, can I pirate money from companies? Why have I bothered pirated games this entire time when I just pirate their money?
>being artist
>some retard asking draw picture for him
>for free
>"You draw not for money! Creators joy! Satisfaction"
>spend 8 hours of your life to draw something to unknow guy
>you litteraly work for free
>that guy can monetize your picture for $$$
CFW is retarded
If I pirate a game enough times, can I put shitty devs out of business?
A huge majority of pirates are third world fags who game devs don't sell to in the first place though.
I miss living in the third world. It was alot of fun pirating literally everything. Here in denmark we get letters so I haven't pirated any good games since I got a static IP.
"the free world" my fucking ass
Are you born from 1997+? Real question. For scientific research. I found most "new generation" don't know how to pirate and can controlled by any boogie man
Piracy doesn't hurt the people that actually make physical products of digital products.
The product creator sells to the distributor, not directly to the consumer. Its up to the distributor to then resell their stock.
If i have a digital download and a physical stock, i could sell 1 million units to distributors and profit off 1 million "sales" before the first distributor even reaches their first stock. In the case if every single potential customer pirated it digitally instead, i still made a shitload of profit thanks to distributors.
Why do you think so many companies never learn from their mistakes? Its cause they've already broken even before the product hits store shelves.
no im older. But I don't want letters to smear me
Stores need to restock by buying from the manufacturer. So yes piracy cuts into the profits of the manufacturer.
I honestly never buy games. In my head I don't consider games to be released until there is a crack. You're not losing sales in me, if from now to tomorrow they invented fail proof DRM I would simply stop playing anything but F2P shit, or maybe stop playing vidya entirely.
I'm sure this sounds like a joke to some people or an attempt to rile people up but I swear to God that's how it is. There are a couple of rare exceptions, like I really enjoy fighting games and they suck without online, so I payed for some of those - grey market keys, that is, and there are a tiny handful of indie devs I felt like supporting, but paying, say, 40+ bucks on a game is honestly inconceivable to me.
Prove it
You should look into being a banker.
>buy 100 units from product creator for game 1
>sell 20 units at full price and then have to bargain bin the rest because pirates downloaded 80% of the product
>next time retailer orders from creator they only buy 20 units to make up for the loss to piracy
that's a net loss for the creator in this instance
use a VPN when you pirate then.
If i clone someone and then kill then, is it really murder? it's not the real person i killed its just a copy of them
>because pirates downloaded 80% of the product
Baseless assumption
I don't know maybe you should ask the Supreme Court of the US, which ruled that infringement of copyright doesn't equate to theft.
I mostly stopped pirating games when growing up to be honest.
The only difference is we can't currently duplicate candy bars or we all would, we could even buy one from the store then duplicate it.
It's morally right to give as many people duplicated items as possible and morally wrong to force people to pay for them.
>copying someone else's game the same as copying someone else's candy from a candy store
You mean like taking a photo of the candy and sharing that? So sharing what someone posts on social media is the pirating equivalent
Why is piracy bad again?
Brave wants games to be accessible to every one, and be made only by people who want to make a high quality product for it's own sake. He's the hero the industry needs.
>You mean like taking a photo of the candy and sharing that?
Top tier logic
I don't pirate for the most part because I like to collect physical copies of games I play. However, that means if I play a game on PC, then I do pirate for sure. The only exceptions are niche games like Trails, which I buy for full price to support xseed, and Neptunia, which I buy on sale unless I'm getting a physical console version
Uh someone actually did that once and he got fucking crucified for it.
Now replace all instances of "pirate" with "second hand market".
>dirt poor, only 7 dollars to my name
Joe?
I'm not sure people will like work for free.
how do we stop developers and companies from making none-free content?
All entertainment should be free.
Merchants have always been immoral.
>guy draws me an incredible art
>he wants some cash for it
>we agree on 100 dollaroos
>I go home, grab some food, put it up for auction online
>it got sold for 10000 dollaroos
>I monetized his picture regardless
Friendly reminder Jesus pirated wine, fish and bread for his followers
Piracy is literally God's will
Second hand market is literally theft/piracy though and thankfully companies like microsoft and valve are moving in the right direction to end it.
The Japanese might. Cave Story is one of the BEST indie games of all time and that was originally free.
this
Piracy is not theft. You can consider it immoral yes. But it is not theft.
You cant steal something someone never had. So saying its the same because it 'steals' income is wrong since there was never any income in the first place. Nobody paid for anything ya fuck.
I don't think you will able to do this.
Pay for $5 and sell for $10 is more realistic
...
Okay, I'll pirate Fallout 4. And 3. And Oblivion.
When they stop waifufagging, Neptunia is surprisingly on point. The mobile gaming arc in Rebirth 3 is fucking amazing for example.
It's no big project. Yeah, some people makes free stuff but in same time they have real job. In game/movie/comic industry artists/programmers work even more than 8 hours per day.
You're an idiot.
>Walk into shop
>Take item
>Leave without paying
I was never intending to pay them in the first place so its not theft. There is no loss of income because I was never going to buy it, so no one paid for anything
If i don't have the money for the game i will not buy it therefore they gain no profit from me so it's the same if i pirate it or not.
>How is pirating a video game any different than pirating a candy bar from a convenience store or pirating a car for a joy ride?
Pirating a video game is possible.
...
Unless you will use bitcoins or something. There is a ways to fuck people who trying to scum you.
Product doesn't magically appear on shelves. When stock sells it has to be restocked, this is the way of things.
>taking
Piracy isn't taking an object, it's downloading a copy.
Copying a photo of something at a store is more like piracy than actually stealing something
You idiot, you could always save up and buy it later. Not only that, the same logic applies to anything
>I want a car
>I can't afford a car
>I will take the car without paying
>I can't buy it anyway so they were never going to profit from me regardless
Oh no goy!
How does one pirate a candy bar.
>Posting a comic that's retarded in the first place.
Argument falls apart because shopkeeper has no right to be asking for payment in the 4th panel.
It's not different. It's literally called Intellectual Property Theft. You're taking something that doesn't belong to you, and you don't have any right to.
>the store owner buys 10 chocolate bars from Willy Wonka's factory and plans to resell them
>a pirate comes into his store, copies a chocolate bar and walks out
>the store owner still has 10 bars that he will eventually sell, no bars were lost, no theft took place
>Walk into an art gallery
>Can buy a painting for $10,000
>Take a photo of it instead
>Print photo out and hang it up in house
Piratefags will try to defend this
In that scenario, the guy is convicted for stealing the fucking car, not depriving the company of a potential sale.
Wow those angry eyebrows sure make a perfectly fine situation seem sinister and unfair. A world where anyone can copy whatever they want sure sounds terrible to live in
>Its not stealing because I'm not taking anything!
You can really tell who is underage here because you 14 year old fucks can't wrap your head around the idea of intangible assets.
Theft
>Materials used to create item: 10
>Item sale price: 20
>Total value stolen: 20
Piracy
>Materials used to create item: 10
>Item sale price: 20
>Total value stolen: 10 (20-10)
Don't try to justify piracy. If you do it, just do it and shut up about it.
I don't know why OP makes this thread every goddamn day. It's always the same fucking responses trying to justify their stealing.
>jewish cons
>mattering
Try and stop me faggot
It will be pretty strange world. Thousand professions will be dead.
if a game is only sold physically then the pirate has to buy the game first, then hack it and copy it and then distribute it for free
Pirating means you don't spend your disposable income on products which are available for FREE at no risk or consequence. You save hundreds if not, thousands of dollars at the cost of nothing.
Paying for a product available for free is just you paying the dumb tax.
>inb4 why don't you just pirate a bike as well? :^)
Doing that takes away the original copy and has real life consequences unlike digital products.
