What is the Switch? Nintendo defines it as a home console. Nintendo also lies a lot.
In your mind does this follow the Wii U time line or the 3ds?

It's their next generation handheld console.
I think the switch will be Nintendo's only system from now on
they will probably release a playstation tv like console that is cheap and has no screen that connects to the tv, and also a smaller portable version with attached buttons
What about their next home console?
Switch means for switch to their new console paradigm.
It's really amusing how much the Switch is triggering autists who have to have everything neatly categorized.
As of now, their home console line stops with the Wii U.
It's both. That's the whole point.
No, it's not. The want that Wii money and 3ds money
You are retarded because it actually matters. If it is a Wii U successor, you can't expect a great console and Nintendo will still be making shit 240p games for the 3DS.
Yea
Epic meme
It's a home console and a handheld.
I've been using mine essentially as both since I got it a few days ago.
The hardware is surprisingly great in some areas and a real letdown in others.
Controller connectivity when used wirelessly has some issues, although much less so since the patch. I'm actually very surprised at how comfortable using the joycons separate is, with one in each hand and my hands resting separate or whatever. The grip is also a good way to do it, similarly comfortable. Playing in tablet mode took a little getting used to but now it's fine. Not as comfortable as the others, but that tends to be the case with handhelds.
The screen is actually really surprisingly good. I was kinda pissed that it was only 720p but the colors pop well and it's nice and bright. Battery life is a major letdown.
Any questions for an early adopter?
inb4 HURR UR RETARDED XD
Why did you buy it
I always regretted not getting a Wii U. That system had a lot of stuff I really wanted to play. Seeing all these great Nintendo games come out and not be able to play them was kind of a bummer, so I always told myself that I'd get one eventually.
With the Switch being announced so soon I figured, hey, why not do it right this time. Get it at launch and then I'll just have it to play stuff as it comes out. It's $400 in my country now, and generally these things don't go down in price for a couple years, so whether I bought it now or in a year or two I would be paying the same amount of money.
I also work as at my city's PSAP as a dispatcher on night shifts. I have a SHITLOAD of free time between calls when we're not busy. I also tend to visit friends for a couple days at a time when I'm off and we like to play games together.
It just kinda fits into my life really well. I don't mind waiting a bit for more games. I've already dumped about 40 hours into Zelda and I'm not even close to done. I've played thousands of games in my life and this very well might make it into my short list of favorites. It's pretty incredible despite some performance issues.
>why not do it right this time
You couldn't have done it anymore wrong.
You should have just bought a Wii U. After you finished the 15 games worth owning for the system then the Switch would have some games.
Now you still miss out on the Wii U and own a Wii U 2 with no games
Now that Wii U is dead I can get one whenever.
I wanna be there to play stuff like Mario Kart, Smash, Splatoon and Super Mario Odyssey as they come out. It's too hard to avoid spoilers on Sup Forums, by the time a few months have passed I already know everything about the games.
I'm going to be playing Zelda for years, I already know that. The other games have given me years of fun each, and this is probably the best one yet.
I don't expect you to understand, but ultimately I'm pretty happy with this purchase.
And now I can just play all the good Wii U games on my computer which negates the purpose of owning one entirely.
obviously it's a handheld. the fact that you can plug an hdmi cable into it is unremarkable, and it's laughable that they're using that as a marketing gimmick.
You mean you can shit post on here about how "flawless" your "perfected" emulator is?
Cemu is trash.
I hate pc gamers. They all like talking shit more than playing games. All of gamers defend pc gaming and shit on everything else when unprotected.
>I'm a pc gamer. I don't play consoles, lol
Who gives a fuck? Just be sad on your no fun machine and leave us be
It's the strongest selling point of the console so it's natural for them to focus their marketing on the aspect that makes it unique. Are you the man that was in charge of the Wii U marketing?
It appears that the Wii U will be Nintendo's final true "home console" and from this point on we'll get devices more in line with the Switch.
>The want that Wii money and 3ds money
It doesn't matter what they want, traditional handhelds are a dying breed and Nintendo is trying to figure out how to avoid competing directly with iPhones and the PS4.
What the heck is wrong with you user?
I was just talking about my experiences with my Switch and you got triggered for some reason and went on a 'HURR MUSTARD RACE' tyrade.
Take a fucking chill pill. Or a chill strip. Put it on your tongue, let it melt, chill.
>It's the strongest selling point of the console
that is truly sad.
It's a good selling point. People are busy. Taking a console with them is appealing.
Especially for parents. Anything to shit their kid up for a minute. And most people are poor and can't around two consoles. So one that does both is great. When parents see that commercial they think about keeping that kid quiet
They would much rather hear
>Wahoo
>Bing Bing
>hayaaaa
Than their kid complaining.
>And most people are poor and can't around two consoles
it's a $300 handheld with $60 games, and it looks breakable as fuck. contrast that with a 3ds, or an ipad mini with dollar games out the ass. i'm not saying it's not a selling point for idiots. i'm only saying it's a stupid one.
>plays console games
>costs $300
Gee I wonder if its a console? ....
What should they sell it on? Being a powerful portable? Having games? Neither factor moves systems.
It's a hybrid.
It doesn't matter what you think it follows, it matters what Nintendo says it is.
Unfortunately, it's a shitty console.
>plays console games equal to ones from a gen and a half ago
It's just an overpriced handheld desu
No
It's an abortion.
What about Disgaea "Vita is too weak for it" 5?
>vita
Just let it rip
It's the Wii U taken to its logical conclusion and a convergence of their handheld and console lines into one premium handheld. The problem going forward is whether they will get any significant third-party support.
The Switch should have a monopoly on handheld gaming in a few years. What that concretely means will be seen.
