Sony and Nintendo video game departments merge to work on a console together for the next generation

>Sony and Nintendo video game departments merge to work on a console together for the next generation

How would you feel? Would there be ANY chance of it not becoming the greatest console in vidya history?

you fucker, don't abuse ron like that

who the FUCK are you to say that to me?

You do realize when they first tried to do this it was full of backstabbing right? Sony tried to take the rights to all of Nintendo's IPs through the deal.

Nintenbro you shouldn't lie

no nintendo wanted to use cartridges still but sony went their own way with the disc, superior obviously. Thats the reason it didnt work out for them.

>discs are superior

do not want

And here we go again

no thanks, i don't want any Nintendo gimmicks on my PlayStation.

...

...

But cartridges are capable of holding more and often at a smaller physical size

>merge to work on a console
I don't want Nintendo's hands anywhere near another console.

They can make the games, Sony can make the hardware.

>Sony and Nintendo

worked great for the n64 aint it then mate?

Then why wasn't FF7 released on cartridge?

Because Sony likes discs
And FF7 required multiple of them so that hardly proves your point

How many cartridges would it take?

Very likely just one

Why would you want Nintendo to touch the hardware at all?

What exactly would Nintendo be bringing to the table? A dozen or so IPs that haven't been relevant in two decades and some second-party developers whose best people jumped off the sinking ship almost 15 years ago?

You're an underaged idiot. The whole reason Nintendo was looking for an electronics partner was to make a disc drive for their system. They wanted a CD expansion because they knew others were doing it. After they couldn't strike a deal with Sony they continued to search for partners until the whole idea fell through because console expansions were a terrible idea that failed.

>Mario
>Zelda
>Pokemon
>Animal Crossing
>Fire Emblem
>Smash

>haven't been relevant in two decades
kek

If anything, Nintendo loses in this deal.

Are you even trying? A N64 cartridge can only hold a maximum of 64 MB

> Nintendo is just "A dozen or so IPs that haven't been relevant in two decades"
How far do yours lies extend?

>64

four you

Bring all of these big names, along with the third party support that Sony gets (which outclasses Microsoft's) onto one console.
Ninty gets to worry less about hardware stuff (they'd still toss in some extra gimmicks somehow for innovation), and more resources can be dedicated to the games. It would be a 50/50 thing so they would still have autonomy over how their manage their franchises.
Nintendo games will have better performance and graphics, and Sony will have a console that actually has worthwhile console games beyond bloodborne and a few big weeb titles.

What is there to dislike?

Nobody is looking to Nintendo for inspiration from their gimmicks. They aren't committed to developing good software on stable hardware. If you think their sales haven't tanked because of stagnation and Iwata's massive incompetence at a job he wasn't suited for, you're incredibly ignorant.

Super Mario is not selling because Nintendo is not competitive, Paper Mario is not selling because they fucked it harder than Metroid.

Legend of Zelda on the 3DS (despite it being the only thing keeping Nintendo afloat) is not selling. I sure don't know why, but I sure don't care either, because the overexposure via these shit entries is unwelcome.

Sun & Moon is still relatively new, and it sold like hotcakes, and yet it still won't come anywhere near Red & Blue.

Amiibo Festival

Fates (& Awakening) didn't sell nearly as much as the flagship titles you're putting it in with, and the former is easily the worst execution of paid DLC in the industry.

Smash is fine, sells a lot for being the rehash it is. Game sucks though, eat a fat dick Hackurai.

If you honestly think Sony or even Microsoft gives a flying fuck what Nintendo does with their time or money, you're higher than a kite. Nintendo is at a lower point than Sony was when Sony was first breaking into the home console market, and Nintendo used to own it.

It's a fucking shame too, to see a brilliant company evolve through time and be reduced to nothing by a mass of incompetent fools.

When I say Nintendo isn't relevant, I mean that from the perspective from business competition, but also developers. There is not a single developer around who is quoting Twilight Princess, Super Mario 3D Land, Pokemon Black & White or Fire Emblem: Awakening as being inspirations. The only piston firing at Nintendo is how to get the most money right now, a practice Reg and Iwata often disregarded, but their actions do not reflect their supposed disdain.

Nintendo games have an incredibly high stickness rate, even on the wii u.

New Super Mario Bros. U sold 5 million copies. 3D World had 5 million sales. Mario Maker with 5.9. Not to mention Super Mario Run with over 70 million downloads.

And sure, Sun and Moon didn't sale as much as Red and Blue, but it still sold a fuck ton, so I don't get what your point is.

For comparison, the only ps4 game to break past 3 million was GTA. An IP Sony doesn't even own. Their next best seller was Killzone with 2.1 million.

Even Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker sold more than the ps4's 4th highest game (Final Fantasy)

happening

Perhaps I should have been more clear. I was talking about cartridge technology in general, and modern cartridges can hold more than modern discs

Final Fantasy 7 fits on a 2 GB cartridge, for example

If hes an idiot you're fucking retarded.
