Thoughts on Batman: Arkham Knight?
I hear it was bad.
Thoughts on Batman: Arkham Knight?
Nah it's just the PC port was shit at launch.
It plays pretty well. While the combat is pretty similiar to previous games, it's a little more varied.
Best of the trilogy
It's the worst game by far, even worse then origins imo.
Batmobile sections sucked
Side missions sucked
Terrible and predictable story and twist.
Joker inserted for no reason.
No innovation to the combat
Just a very medicore game.
If the perfect Batman experience for you is repetitive waves of blowing up drones in a tank, then this game is great.
Worse than City, better than Origins. The story sucks gargantuan amounts of ass. This is a game you play purely for the gameplay.
Batman carried out the wrong person at the end of City
Has the PC port gotten better?
Yes, I played it nicely on a GTX 960 and i3 6100 maxed out.
Eats up RAM like mad though.
damn, i'll have to pick it up when it goes on sale again. thanks!
PC port was/is terrible, good Arkham game though, a bit too heavy on the Batmobile, but other than that good game.
Its not the best in the series, but it's still fun.
The batmobile is overused and forced, most of the time.
You can get a CD Key for $5 in G2A or any other website.
wait, what is wrong with the port?
Just a resource hog?
It was very, very centered on the Batmobile. If you didn't like or grew adept at maneuvering that big hunk of shit then the game can get dragged down. As another user mentioned the "twist" can be seen a mile coming if you're familiar with the comics.
I hear the additional story DLC was quite good. Haven't played through it yet. Playing as multiple characters of the Batfamily in the missions is always fun.
At launch it had shit optimization.
great game. Batmobile handles amazingly and it's well implemented in the game world.
Like it or not, it was an obvious "next step" if you will, and my favorite is still City, but that's only because I prefer the "on foot" parts of the series more, not because the batmobile sucks.
Can you run it at 60? Played it on release and it got around 45-50 fps no matter what the settings where
It's bad if you don't like the Batmobile. If you like/don't mind it, it's pretty fun. I personal like it the most out of the arkham games.
Did they ever release a DLC-included version of this? That's the only way I'm going to buy it.
Story was fine 2bh
Even if the port was fixed, its still the weakest of the arkham games.
It was my favorite of the series. It's like $10 at GameStop now. 100% get it.
The Arkham VR is cool too. Only about an hour long but still cool. That's $20 at GameStop also.
Sometimes at high 50's, mostly at around 50.
It's pretty shit
Batmobile is boring and way too shoved in your face
the twist is retarded
scarecrow, who was the highlight of asylum is completely shit in this one
>having taste this shit
>scarecrow, who was the highlight of asylum is completely shit in this one
You got that backwards. He was shit in Asylum. He was a little pussy faggot in that game.
Pretty much city with a bat mobile, some people liked the bat mobile some hated it, I liked it, but it didn't make any sense to me how hitting people with it at high speeds didn't kill them or why a guy who is exclusively non-lethal would have a tank with a massive main gun. The whole "who is the arkham knight" mystery was lame considering it was damn obvious
He got away with way too much. Crane should've been the appetizer to something bigger. Or the catalyst. Bruce revealing his identity leaves the Arkhamverse in a really weird state. Like how do they go from here?
Was hoping for an adaptation of No Man's Land where every rogue is active and Bruce is without any of his advanced tech to take them all out. Or just end the Arkhamverse on that note.
kys
>. Like how do they go from here?
You make a shitty Damian Batman beyond game.
I could go for that. Terry McGuiness out of fucking no where, though, because Damian sucks.
Best western asses. Duck what you heard, rocksteady makes the best qts.
No means that they're currently making a batman beyond inspired game with Damian as batman.
He means
There is no good fear sections like the first game for some reason despite scare crow being the antagonist
An average AAA title, which was disappointing coming from City and Asylum.
Like many games that are deep into a series, it was spoiled by one too many bad features accumulated over the life of the franchise. It could have been much, much more than it turned out to be. By general vidya standards it is still a good game.
Game is fun until it starts forcing you to use the batmobile for everything.
>HEY BRING THE BATMOBILE HERE TO TAKE DOWN THIS WALL
>HEY KILL 30 OF THESE TANKS BATMAN EVEN THOUGH YOU JUST DID 10 MINUTES AGO
>HEY KILL THESE SUPER TANKS THAT ONE SHOT YOU BUT YOU GOT DRIVE AROUND THEM. BY THE WAY THEY PATROL
Ugh. Such an unnecessary part of the game and they make you do it basically before every new mission.
Game is pretty fun ignoring that though and the PC port is running well now.
>PC port was so terrible they removed it from the Steam store for a time
how often does that happen?
It's good but one part of the story is predictable if you know anything about Batman lore. I actually liked the Batmobile outside of boss segments but it seems like most people hated it
riding around in the batmobile is actually fun when you beat the story and can use any batmobile you want
Great game, really unfortunate pc launch, but the game itself is great
Also fuck people complaining about the batmobile, i had fun doing car puzzles, since regardless what people say there are only two or three 90 second races that you cant fail as they serve to teach you
Second best Arkham game behind City tbqh. The stealth mechanics are the best of any Arkham game, the combat is polished more than any other Arkham game, the story is serviceable. The only bad parts were the Batmobile sections and the fact that the PC port was unplayable for awhile.
PCfirendos were fucking mad that their port was shit and shitposted about it
but if you play the way it was intended (on console) you'll know it was the best ban ham game from the series
I have it on both and since they fixed it on PC its literally unplayable on console
It was incredibly lame that, despite constantly claiming the Knight was an oc, he ended up being Jason Todd just like everyone was saying since the e3 trailer.
It was honestly the only time I can think of.
it was perfect from day one on consoles, PC was unplayable. thank iron galaxy for that
quite mediocre
game focuses way too much on the bat tank, and it isn't fun to use it so much
It's the worst Arkham game
>batmobile sucked
subjective
>side missions sucked
subjective
>predictable
its fucking batman dude, of course the arkham knight is red hood
>joker for no reason
apart from the whole subplot?
>no innovation to the combat
apart from all the shit they added, all the other characters with new movesets, and the fact that it's already a very good and innovative combat system?
It suffers from Dini not writing the plot and over implementing the batmobile. Granted its great racing through the streets of Gotham, but they put too much focus on it to justify its inclusion to the point where other game features take a back seat. Detective work and predator gameplay left much to be desired, tank battles were dumb, and whoever decided to make Riddler the race challenge guy was an idiot
The game was nice.
>have to collect all the riddler trophies just to free her
Welp. Sorry Catwoman you're fucked forever.
I'm pretty sure it wasn't all.
>need to collect everything to watch the true ending
nah fuck you rocksteady you faggy limey retards, I'm just going to watch it on youtube
Nah that was only if you wanted to fight him. You free her after you finish the batmobile riddler challenges to get the keys for her bomb collar.
I've never seen an otherwise decent game commit suicide with a single mechanic but the Arkham Knight and the Batmobile managed to do that
You are so exaggerating. It was a neat change.
Oh. I didn't know this. That's a nice surprise. May just go back to the game now.
are you just garbage at shooters or something?
like, no batmobile segment lasted longer than a few mins.
Here goes my autistic tldr review:
The good
>fun as fuck Bamham combat, at it's best (fuck you in advance, hardcore Sup Forumsirgins, you will never make dislike Bamham combat)
>stealth is also at it's best, i wish they have ridden off completely of the gargoyles, though, they could have done it with no problem
>the Batmobile it's a delight to drive in actual car mode
>although i think the tank battles are conceptually shit, in a gameplay perspective they are really fun, even the stealthy ones
>fucking loved the main story (except for most of the bossbattles), Riddler and Catwoman (until the boss battle), the story DLC's (i wish they have made more of those and less cosmetic stuff, i only use Batfleck suit and the base ones, anyway), the dual team battles, Joker, the bit of Gotham we could explore was exquisitely designed, the firefigher sidequest (they should have added more people to rescue hidden all around the city, like GTA IV "random encounters")
The bad
>most of the actual bossbattles were shit (i only really liked Albert King and Killer Croc fight, hated the stealth fight with Arkham Knight even when it had some cool dialogue)
>no Wayne manor, no Batcave, no Arkham City ruins, no New Gotham (Origins new island), not the whole Gotham City
>very repetitive side missions, and i hated the so convenient stuff they had (one bank in each island for Two Face, one fire station in each island for Firefly, that kind of too videogamey stuff)
>they should have made the detective vision so it could only stand out stuff when you need to see it, not before (it spoils the surprise when you see things like doors or turrets before you have to enter a place)
>i wish you could be more stealthy to infiltrate into places, Batman makes too much noise most of the time and thugs don't notice it
>i wish they weren't lazy and greedy with the animations (like Azrael being a skin of Batman)
8/10, my favorite in the series when it comes to challenges and free roam.
played it on console, never touched pc (like the rest of the games)
worst out of the series, no contest
Indeed. Thank God for Rocksteady and WB in general for ignoring SJW.
It was nice but repeated material.
Different scenarios and play style would be welcomed. A DKR superman fight like the Dr freeze boss fight would have been nice
I'm pissed it fucking crashes still.
Can't even start the main campaign.
Only been playing the dlc shit since it actually works. Batgirl is pretty cool.
>Different scenarios and play style would be welcomed.
This. That's something City had, more variety: playing as Catwoman, good variety in the bossbattles, those bits where you have to use a raft to cross water (and the cool as fuck jumpscares with the shark), adding new types of enemies in the right moments, Riddler puzzles and Saw esque death traps...
I dunno, they almost never recycled stuff in there. In Knight i feel they forgot the rule of quality over quantity.
Maybe your rig isn't good enough. Just saying.
1070 i5 6600k.
I guess?
>finish tedious tank battle with Deathstroke
>he jumps out of the wreckage and lunges at you
>get hyped as fuck for an epic final boss fight
>"lol one punch into my trunkmobile you go Slade XD"
Fuck this game for ruining the boss fights with those stupid fucking tank battles.
i5 4590 GTX 970 15gb ram.
Occasionally dips into the 55's for a bit on mostly maxed settings, and none of that nvidia extra shit.
Ran like ass on 8GB of ram tho, pretty sure they changed the requirement to 10GB after launch instead of optimizing
Yeah I actually enjoyed the driving bits (i just pretendes Bats killed, ran over everyone and that's it) until they'd force it and repeat too much. Loved the chases, it was something new that felt very Batman.
The dynamic duo stuff was really nice new thing as well.
Wish there was more social stealth like Hitman during Wayne moments (corporate spy shit, homeless disguises etc)
I didn't found that fight tedious when it was against the Arkham Knight, it was actually tense in a good way.
But then they recycled it with Deathstroke and denied us a fair melee fight. That's lazy bullshit, Rocksteady.
Not only asses and bodies
WE COULD HAVE HAD A ROOFTOP DUEL IN THE RAIN, DAMNIT
>Lots of boring car
>Melee combat is same as ever, still pretty good and worthy of all the copy cat games.
>More stealth options
>More stuff you will never use
>PC port was terrabad, apparently is passable now
>Boss fights still kinda trash
>Dat clown ass doe
There was only one Wayne moment: the Hush side quest. I didn't mind that it was a QTE fight, but that it came from nowhere and ended in a few minutes when it was hyped in City as a great showdown. What a waste. Like Rocksteady writters forgot about it and then added it in the last minute.
the batmobile was real fucking neato the first 50 times you use it, the next 150 times after that it just got so old.
and it was just so god damn shoehorned into every aspect of gameplay.
Not when every mission ended up culminating in "I can use the Batmobile to do it"
No, I mainly play shooters
The Batmobile segments didn't last very long but were far too great in number
Arkham Knight's writing was terrible and fell into the same overreliance of The Joker and The Joker faux-parallelism
Arkham Origins had the best story in the series -- and the truth is only real Batman fans will understand why
I'll leave you to think about what I just said
This. Harley is a qt.
DUDE WHO NEEDS BOSS FIGHTS LMAO
Prepare to like Bat Tank battles. And fucking racing - if you don't like and suck at racing games, too bad. Prepare to fight a boss tank (and some of its super tank buddies) in some pseudo-Predator mode where you sneak behind it and try to hit this small weakness in point-blank range and it takes fucking seconds before you can shoot it - you have to do this predator attack multiple times to take out the super tanks multiple times on the boss tank (PS: there are 2 boss tank fights). Prepare for the Excavator raping your ass with its dildo drill, although it's not much of an issue anymore for PC since the game doesn't fucking drop to single digit frames in the encounter anymore. Prepare for shit story that you can fucking tell who the Arkham Knight is and how shitty Batman was outed.
You're gonna fucking hate it.
I can't even remember which story lines were in origins and which were in city
I played it on PS4. It was a lot more fun than I thought it would be. The true ending sucks tho because you need to solve all of the riddler's bullshit puzzles, like 200 of them,to get the "real" ending...
>get out of batmobile
>finally i can punch some mooks
>haha stop right there batman we have you surrounded!
>bring it on fuckers
>"the thugs have me surrounded i better use the remote control to call the batmobile for help"
Yeah that was anti climatic as hell. It doesn't help it's badly written too.
"SO IT WAS YOU ALL ALONG WHO KILLED THEM", meanwhile we just met this guy and first ever heard of his parents
You can, but you have to turn down everything. So it's like playing the game in potato settings. That's if you don't have a 980 and up (very VRAM-dependent) rig with lots of RAM. Despite assertions that it's optimized, it's a fucking lie. Suppose it's as optimize as it's going to get, considering the game was built with consoles in mind, making the utilization of the power of near-top tier rigs (to keep stable 60+ fps) dogshit. It's like MKX. You might experience drops to 40-50 fps when driving the Batmobile and drifting. To compensate, use boosts when making sharp turns to limit drifting. You need to learn how anyways, if you want to do better in Riddler's challenges and compete in the leaderboards.
>Well, competing in the leaderboards doesn't matter as some were able to hack their times
>Well, competing in the leaderboards doesn't matter as some were able to hack their times
Do you know if the lederboards are shared among platforms?. Because some fuck ended a predator challenge in one second, like, how if it wasn't by hacking?.
It was designed to run at 30 FPS.
The texture streaming system simply can't keep up with 60 FPS in a lot of cases, except with an SSD but even then it's not perfect.
It also launched with very limited graphics options, so rocksteady added a bunch of options but I don't think they really change that much. The texture quality didn't change when they made 'Normal" into 'Ultra", it just made e-peens slightly bigger for dumb nerds.
There's also no SLI support. You can enable it but it causes horrible flickering.
I was able to run it at launch at 4K 30 FPS just fine on a single GTX 980.
It's a good time just like it's previous installments. Gliding and grappling hook has been improved to the point that you can just travel like that if you wanted to. Batmobile is only overused if you let it and rush story missions. The way this game rolls, it's best to more or less do a 100% run on your first go since doing the side stuff when you get the chance keeps things fresh.
They should've just made a separate Batmobile game and made AK more Batman-oriented that only uses the Batmobile mostly to solve puzzles and one Batmobile and one Battank boss fight.
You shouldn't be fighting Deathstroke, in his own fucking tank, with the Battank. That's fucking heresy! You're supposed to be fighting him like in Origins, or make it a non-tank predator battle.
>killed joker
>batman gets unmasked
N I C E
It was okay. The input timing is still fucked up from Origins, the boss fights generally suck ass(even Origins did better) and the batmobile takes getting used to although it's the quickest way to get around by far. I didn't mind the story and the amount of Riddler crap isn't too ridiculous.
>implying level 4 grapnel boosting isn't the best way to traverse
Never used the batmobile for transportation after I unlocked that.
Deathstroke is such a waste in the Arkham games. It's like they wanted some cool badass to fight Batman that can take him on in a fistfight but become a pure jobber.
>never make dislike
>ridden off
The batmobile is faster than gliding if you know how to drive it properly.
Nah, Batman knew Talia's sexy body would be taken by the League to be revived. Joker body was more dangerous and had to be dealt with fast.
I thought the city seemed pretty small.
I like Origin except the dark knight system (or whatever it was called). I'll never get perfect freeflow and in that shitty system you need to do that to unlock upgrades.
