How about a vault with 100 people who all claim they have different genders, and each argue with the other that there gender is real. Each gender has its own rules, so each person would have to learn how to treat each person right.

A vault with two subsections. One has only men, and one has only women.

They both have to run their parts of the vault without knowledge of the other section. The women believe they are the only people in the vault, and the men believe they are the only people in the vault.

There's two fake overseer rooms, but one real overseer room. The real overseer studies the two subsections along with a team of scientists to see which side will cooperate better. There's cameras all along the vault sections.

The women can access their cameras, and the man can access theirs. The real overseer can access both.

So essentially its like sticking Sup Forums in a vault and then putting in a few lefties and telling them there are shills among them.

A vault where people have to solve a series of logical puzzles to receive their daily food ration which become succesively harder over the years. At the same time a chemical is released into the vault which makes people age and mature faster. The purpose of the vault is to rapidly breed a generation of people who are much more logically minded than the generation which caused the nuclear disaster. After a few generations, however, the vault has split into the more numerous smarter than average vault dwellers and the incredibly smart but minority dwellers. Unable to solve their own food allotment puzzles and facing starvation, the less intelligent dwellers (who are still much smarter than your average person irl) decide to enslave the most intelligent dwellers and force them to solve their puzzles for them. Eventually the smartest vault dwellers recognize the futility of the cycle and decide that their slavery goes against the point of the vault and kill themselves. Now, unable to solve their puzzles which have now become far too complicated for them, the remaining denizens of the vault starve to death.

I can imagine the puzzles being designed to go on for a century or two before running out. Of course the vault dwellers would have all died out before then.

Creating those puzzles is the job of the inhabitants of another vault.

A vault that is seemingly normal on the inside, but on the outside, it is slowly spinning. It spins extremely slowly on a centrifuge, and it gradually picks up speed over the course of many years.

Every inhabitant of the vault enters it at the age of 18 years old. At the age of 40 for those inhabitants, it will hit max speed.

The speed at which it starts would be completely unnoticeable. It would be put into effect as soon as the vault closes. Every second they are there, it is increasing speed at an extremely gradual speed.

What speed the vault maxes out at, is up for discussion.

It would be like one big, very slow, very long, high-G training session.

A vault where the people are denied all forms of religion, education and entertainment except for various clown recordings and manuals on clowning. They are supplied greasepaint, clown costumes, and various comedy props and presumably over time they will accept their new reality as a clown society.

As time goes on, an automated system releases more clown paraphernalia, new manuals with guides on how to perform new tricks for maximum laughs. These guides and props slowly become more slowly become more sinister, very subtlety twisting and perverting the idea of what's funny.

Eventually clowns are performing tricks that end in gratuitous suicides or the deaths of several of their audience members, doing performances soaked in blood and collecting remains for new tricks. And if all goes well, everyone involved will find this hilarious.

End results: A vault full of psycho murder clowns. Have fun searching through the ruins of that, Fallout 5 protag.
