Why aren't you playing BLACKWAKE right NOW?
Blackwake

Jesus fuck.
>leaving the helm
why are you a massive faggot
Can the ships be destroyed? And broken and sank? Are there only two ships at a time?
because it's EA and I learned my lesson on those games, waiting for a full release until I buy.
Finally a thread on this. I fucking love this game.
yes
yes
no
I'm probably about to hop on thanks to this thread
it can have up to 255 ships per battle with complete ship destruction via realistic battle damage from fire, cannon fire, ramming damage, etc
each ship is manned by 4-12 playable characters that also can be turned into NPCs if you dont have the people
there are land and seal goals which you can capture or you can just pirate the merchant ships that follow the traderoutes of the fully functioning economy based in one of 8 different land cities or 3 different sea cities
looks like twitch streamer bait.
Just drunk-impulse bought it
Take me away, waves of fate
Umm, this is kinda wrong
Because its early access meme shit
It looks fun, I'm probably going to pick it up since it's only like $15
There is 1v1 and 2v2 gamemodes, and a fleet mode with two hoys and one galleon on each team.
Ships can take damage, cannons can break down, sails can be torn apart, the front sail can break and the ship can catch on fire too.
And of course, if you take to much water or lose a boarding your ship will sink.
I kind of want to buy it. But I don't want another the Culling repeat where the game is actually super fucking fun and good and then they literally patch it to make it awful and lose every player it had
I'm playing it. Tons of fun as british but people that play pirates are always retarded.
It looks neat but I'm gonna wait until it's had some more updates.
Never realized i wanted this so much til i played ass creed balck flag
>Up to 255 ships
No dude.
>FOTM Early access game
It soon will be abandoned by the devs once the next meme shit you guys jump on comes out.
What did the Culling devs do? I was always vaguely interested in it.
What fucking game are you playing
whweuehgghjga
Never added any content, completely broke the balance numerous times and then removed stuff and essentially gutted the game removing everything they made it good. They just kept fucking stuff up and I don't know how. All they had to do was add some maps and weapons and it would have been fine
How is it better? Not to mention it looks like shit. Sea of Thieves' artstyle is unmatched.
Because I'm 35 and I'm not gonna play a multiplayer game with people half my age.
>Two ships collide
>Screen shakes instead of player controlled character falling forward.
>Fucking hand cannon that should have broken his arms but does not even kick back.
Just include FF flying ships already.
>muh realism
you almost had a sext but missed it by one number for being an autist
I'll need to make more webms soon, been playing it too much.
You do know realism is actually depth?
There is difference when all you have to do is press fire and when game puts some limitations on you and when those limitations are not artificial rules that shatter the immersion on every step but limitations that feel natural and the only way such limitations will feel natural is when they based in reality and understood instinctively.
Unless the game is based on fantasy then you can have guns that are weaker than sword, flying ships and cats shooting lasers from whiskers.
In which case its ok.
Look again gun have stronger recoil than a cannon.
This is the kind of shit that reduces game mechanic to shooting only, even a fun balance mechanic that naturally evolves from cannon having large recoil and therefore puts limitations on the player and its use is nowhere to be seen.
Enjoy your CS on water, at this point Black Flag is a better pirate sim type of game.
nigger that's not a cannon it's a grenade launcher with no barrel whatsoever that fires at a very low velocity
M70s don't break arms, do they?
if only i could try sea of thieves to compare them
>early access
no friends
> PC is shit
>>>>"""(((Early Access)))"""
Mostly the 2nd one. Never gonna pay for that shit.
Does look interesting though, hopefully they actually polish and finish it rather than just realizing they've got 90% of the money they would make with a release and leave it in a neverending perpetual beta to avoid actually having to fulfill their promises and duties as devs.
Admittedly I haven't even played the game.
Played it for an hour and a half and then refunded it. It was fun, but I see it getting incredibly stale very fast.
bamp
Because I played it for hours today.
I guess a few more rounds couldn't hurt though.
that's the spirit
How's the ship damage system?
Because the same streamers playing it for dev cash are the ones who were playing conan exiles a couple weeks ago. It's easier to find the obvious cash grabs by looking at whose palms they grease.
I'd be interested in such a thing if it was better.
Like, having real big ships with 3 decks and 20+ cannon, a crew of 64 players, and a more gritty, down to earth style, with a minimalistic HUD and mechanics based on realistic things, like boarding using ropes and planks, not fucking jumpin on the other ship like you're halo
They did playtest massive ships and it was simply not rewarding, constant repairing, very slow, not all that fun.
>not rewarding, constant repairing, very slow, not all that fun.
For them, maybe. Being more interested in broad appeal than a good game I'm sure they went with shallow fast paced battles instead of proper stuff, but I'd much prefer my battles to last 1 hours instead of 5 minutes if those are the choices I have.
Feels like a shill thread
Because they want to stick to the game they made, probably. There are ways to make repairing fun. Have a guy's role be carpenter and plan the repairs, have pumps that have to be operated to get water out, have a diving mechanic to do repairs underwater, have a mechanic to recycle wood from parts to use it on other parts.
The problem is that they probably made it so repairs are "press x to repair", they probably made it so when you get fucked to oblivion by a canon ball you have a "press fire to respawn", and so on. It doesn't seem like they tried to make a serious game, and I guess that's fine but I'm not interested in another crate-funded shooter now with a pirate flavor.
I can't stand the nockgun. All the performance of the blunderbuss with twice the reload time.
>If you aren't shitting on a game, you're a shill
God forbid someone actually enjoys video games.
>that reload
Okay that kinda rules
So does everything oneshot you in this game?
No wait this actually is a shill thread, Nice try schlomo but I'm not buying your game.
>The problem is that they probably made it so repairs are "press x to repair"
This. Retard and/or lazy fuck developers always half ass stuff they don't actually want to put in. They will "playtest it" (who knows if they actually did) as a half-assed model where everything is abstracted down to a single button press then say that complex systems weren't fun. Of course it won't fucking be fun if you just add repairs in the form of holding down E for x seconds.
This game is just a team-based shooter set on moving ships with cannons, it's not a naval combat game.
The reload animations are pretty nice. The only discrepancy I noticed is that they don't ram before they pour the powder. I've never used a blackpowder gun before but I thought you rammed it before you put fresh powder in so that any leftover embers would be put out. Then again, I could also imagine skipping that step if you were in a close quarters fight and you needed to reload immediately, safety be damned. Plus, the reloads are long enough as it is from a gameplay perspective.
Most weapons are oneshots besides the small pistol and the two revolvers, but most weapons have reload times of ten seconds and up.
The short pistol and matchlock revolver(?) only kill in one hit from a headshot, but you can bleed to death from any of them. The musket and nockgun kill in one shot while the blunderbuss has a pretty believable spread, killing in one shot up close and wounding out at 30ish yards.
>early access
Nope. I'll wait until the beta testing is done and consider buying it, $20 is good but I'm worried about the population.
So far the population is great but I don't blame you for waiting. I got this because I had an extra steam giftcard around and loved pirate ship wars on garrys mod.
Hearts of Oak
How about this?
>Hearts of Oak
>unity
>last blog update March 20, 2016
>website made by an incompetent
Jesus that looks bad
Because Sup Forums is mostly underrage and without any kind of income meaning they can't afford games meaning they only play what they can pirate.
>Niklas shilling his shit as usual
Go back to facepunch retard you don't belong here.
Because my best friend broke his computer and I'm waiting for him to play it
...
make me
My toaster probably can't handle it
but thanks for bumping my thread faggot
>255 ships
>each ship crew of 12
>3060 players
ok famalam.
ram the other ship
no spilnters fly nobody on the deck gets shoved around by the force of the impact
4/10
looks like a poor mans black flag
you don't go outside much do you
>looks like a richmans black flag
fixed that :^D
Is this like Guns of Icarus, but on the ocean?
It's like airships but get this, on the water.
>underaged
>says the fag playing a game for kids
whoa
Any good? Pretty learly of early access shit
Looks like another generic gimmick MP title that you'd play for a day with your friends and then never touch again.
What is the lasting appeal of the game? What hook keeps players playing?
Isn't this game old? Or is it just a clone of another game? I remember some youtubers playing a game that looked a lot like this.
I'd say wait and see if it takes off or if everyone moves to another game.
Stop you're lies
Game is decent fun. Max fun if you have any friends to play it with, no clue why you would play it alone tho...
>What hook keeps players playing?
it's fun
If you have a good captain it still fun alone
