>10 minutes in the country >contract Malaria >the guy who you were supposed to kill taunts you when you were incapacitated >steals your shit >get in a firefight >get shot >get kidnapped >forced to work for the guy who kidnapped you
Ubisofts writing team are fucking shit But holy Lord the environments, music and immersion in this game are phenomenal.

By being in shit country.

This game was underrated, with that one realism mod that makes the gunplay similar to STALKER it was seriously fun. And the open world map was everything that MGSVs Africa was trying to be but wasn't.
Also it had some alright Waifus
Jeremiah Morales
Would have been better if it weren't for all the shit that ruined it completely. And don't tell me how mods fix everything, there's no mod that either sufficiently fixes most of the game's problems properly or doesn't take too many liberties with the code.
Ryan Murphy
Please elaborate on the problems you had with FC2

Anyone have a list of recommended mods?

>gunplay similar to STALKER
I want to play this game just for this alone since there aren't too many shooters that do this but I just can't stand playing a game set in Africa. It's just not comfy.

Respawning checkpoints, half the nations population rode around in technicals exclusively to hunt you, and despite being in the middle of a civil war the only fighting that ever occurs is you vs faceless mooks.

moddb.com/mods/dylans-far-cry-2-realism-mod Realistic shooting, everything dies in a few hits plus a few other overall good gameplay changes like making stealth actually viable
moddb.com/mods/sproyds-sweetfx-graphical-enhancement-config The original game had a brown filter on everything because muh realistic brown military shooters were a fad at the time, this mod returns some colours and makes Africa beautiful again
That's about the most basic mod setup I'd recommend, keeps most of the original game intact but makes it better.
Isaiah Green
Thanks user,I will try out both of them.did 1.5 for the realism mod ever come out?

Reminder that you are the Jackal.

By being some dropout/criminal/ex-3rdworldmilitary rando who thinks doing a murder for hire is as easy as "just like find the guy and bang bang". I really loved how FC2 had such a down to earth premise in contrast to the high-tech superelitecommando stuff of other games at the time as set by CoD.
Tyler Powell
>Mfw I have that rifle
10/10 tastes would go to school with.
Isaiah Morgan
I liked the game, in 2008 there weren't many open world fps games available.

At the time this was released it was pretty fucking amazing along with fallout 3

>FC 3/4 fix most of the mechanical problems FC2 had >Don't manage to retain the feeling of the 2nd game 3 did "war-torn 3rd-world shithole" pretty well but Jason Brody was unlikable to the point of distraction. 4's setting was interesting in its own way but fixed the protagonist problem by making him absolutely nothing instead, but also made the non-character a pivotal part of the narrative. The conflict was more dynamic as well but less interesting. The gameplay of realism-modded 3/4 (along with not-terrible mirrored guns) plus the general sense of being a scumbag fuckup hired killer operating in an African shithole would be amazing Oh, also "post-apocalyptic Far Cry" would be amazing. Like, full-blown Mad Max style rather than the tongue-in-cheek style of Blood Dragon Also replayed this recently and it's jarring how bad the voice acting is.
Parker Scott
>Also replayed this recently and it's jarring how bad the voice acting is. When I at first heard the Jackal speak I thought "this is really cool, like this guy is an absolute psycho and talks in a really abnormal way that makes him unique as a character. Surely this must have been done deliberately". And then I find out that no, it was not done deliberately. Literally every character talks like that and it really is just shit voice acting.
Bentley Torres
>do mission >finish it >drive back to safehouse to sleep >crash and die before I reach it >lose all progress
Ayden Johnson
I always thought it was a side effect of malaria
Everyone is talking normally, but its just that you can barely focus
Ayden Perez
If we´re thinking about the same mod, I tried that but uninstalled after a few minutes when I realized it removed the player position from the map and the gps thing in cars. It already takes long enough to get from A to B in this game without having to figure out where the fuck you are in the world. A great mod, but that shit ruined it for me and there was no way of disabling that "feature"

Does anyone feel that the guns in 2 have no weight/kick to them. They seriously feel like cap guns. 3 was a lot better in this respect.
Matthew King
>can't stand playing a game in Africa >he doesn't want to assert a sense of lost colonialism by fucking up third world countries for your own personal gain with no regards to it's current and future inhabitants The Africa setting is the best part
To be fair, it's the sudden onset of malaria that fucked you over, had you not contracted it you probably would have killed the Jackal right away and have been on your way home by the end of the day
I think everyone talked fast so that they could fit in more story stuff without having the player wait around for 5 minutes for the characters to finish their dialogue
Unmodded Far Cry 2 has some terrible peashooter guns >some shirtless nig takes 10 rifle rounds to the chest before he finally goes down
Dylan Ramirez
>some shirtless nig takes 10 rifle rounds to the chest before he finally goes down It's not just the damage they do, but how they 'feel'. It's like there's no other reaction from the gun but a muzzle flash.
Juan Ward
This game had such potential. The Dogs of War as a game would be so much fun.
>we will never get a open world African conflict game again
