You have a selective memory because I've seen a lot of Oblivion threads where the focus of discussion is how much better it is than Skyrim. It's the TES cycle, which for some reason only started with Morrowind.

Witcher 3 is pretty widely praised. People don't need to be told by Sup Forums to play it.

I remember it being discussed all the time on here. Ended up buying it and playing through most of the game with 2 of my friends on local multiplayer over a weekend.

I remember Sup Forums was so into Borderlands that people would "claim" the characters and roleplay as them. Back then there was no racism so people loved Roland.

A single Elder Scrolls game is more than enough to set you for life. If you can get into one of the others it doesn't really matter if Oblivion in particular isn't your personal jam.

I'm a skyrimkid and really couldn't get into oblivion, dropped it in like 10hours. The weird part is: I played morrowind after that and now I consider it to be one of the greatest games ever, much better than Skyrim.

honestly, i wish there were still oblivion gates after you finish the main quest. i have to ignore it and grind to 17+ to get the best enchantments possible on equips and then go back to it.

I like skyrim well enough, and I really wanted to like Morrowind (but the hit chance and movement speed made me wanna die), but oblivion has most of the same problems fo3 does

I played Oblivion, and I thought people probably hated it too much. Boy was I wrong:

I originally told myself I wouldn't fast travel, but that quickly went out the window as traveling was such a bore. I even had to fast travel in towns because they are so boring to walk around in. The game just feels horribly dry and unfinished. Even when I was only a few hours in, I saw so many bugs where NPCs would just float along the ground
