This is the best indie game I've ever played by far

This is the best indie game I've ever played by far.

I'm guessing it was the only game you've ever played.

Same.

The only games that come close to it are Cave Story, FTL and Dorf Fort.

this

I already pirated your game, stop shilling now.

Furi is better

>implying Hotline Miami isn't better

It's good but it's not quite that good.

Anyway OPTIMISATION PATCH FUCKING WHEN
Fuck off

You should play more indie games then.
It looks nice and I'll buy it, but enemies look like they were animated in flash to a degree.

this

fuck off faggot

The pirated version has some butthurt-making bug in it IIRC

god I hate this fucking artstyle

HK is probably the best metroidvania i've played since GBA ones.
It shits all over la-mulana for example.

psssh nobody cares kid
PSSSH NOBODY CARES KID

its repetitive as fuck, and gimping the player from the start because "muh metroidovania" is a shit game design. It also eats inputs

Sup Forums contrarianism is the worst reason to hate a game.

Hollow Knight has plenty of valid flaws, but being a metroidvania is not one of them.

So I guess this game got too popular so now we hate it?

Anyway, is the cast-off shell the wyrm's old body? Do they explain how it became the pale king or is it more implied that the pale king received the King's Brand from it? What is their relationship to the radiance/infection?

>So I guess this game got too popular so now we hate it?
It's not that it's too popular. I'd bet it's just the natural contrarian-ness you get when catalogue browsers get sick of seeing a game's threads too much. Plus, the OP was deliberately inflammatory.

It is more like he [Wyrm] re-incarnated as as a King

Great game, need bug fix A LOT, but no unplayeable

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

seriously it still has framerate problems

How do you get out of the beasts den?

You finish it

La Mulana is unmatched as a puzzle game, though, not as a metroidvania.

pirated your pixel shit just to seed
thanks cuck

I despise its retarded puzzles.
Especially the ones where solution is a barely visible thing on background.

It's literally not even half as good as Cave Story desu

Metroidvania games suck. Boring backtracking crap.

Looks like Ori and the Blind Forest

>seedcuck calling others cucks
yes goy share those kilobytes with your fellow (((pirates)))

stay mad gook cum guzzler

Radiance is the Oldlight, infection is its wrath at having been replaced by the Kinglight

If you read the quote at the beginning of a new game, it implies the Oldlight was a god that never allowed the bugs to grow self aware, and that the arrival of the King is what gave everyone individuality and soul

Its said the King is the Wyrm reincarnated, but that it eventually died too.

sticking it to the man my dude, I can't imagine all the pussy your reckless disregard for authority is giving you

...

Wether or not it is depends entirely on what Hornet mode will be. If it's another campaign with a very different moveset this game is going into all my god tier lists, otherwise I'll keep it as highish tier.

Certainly better than any castlevania thats not SOTN, at any rate.

THERE WAS A FRENCH COOK HERE BUT I DREAMED HIM BEFORE LISTENING TO WHAT HE HAD TO SAY, WHAT WAS IT PLS HALP

I disagree solely on the Cave Story thing.
Cave story was an amazing effort for a one man project back when it came out, but it really isn't that great a game overall and certainly not on the same tier as Hollow Knight or FTL

Where is this ?

This is Sup Forums my friend. People are not going to get butthurt about pirating.

In any case, .
Unlike Ori, this is good.

In the tower that leads to the pleasure house, hidden-ish room, the cook had salvador dali mustache.

>The best
Arguably. It'd be retarded to claim that it's as unique or relevant as Cave Story, Dwarf Fortress or some other early indie titles, but if you're talking about strict gameplay value and execution I'd put it above each classic 'Metroidvania' that I played, at least. Not for its time, though.

It's great, but it still needs a few fixes, too.

Something dumb about being hungry and waiting for food, and that it has been a while, I think.

you certainly get anal anguished enough to give me (you)s and making up retarded shit about bugs tho

Are you seriously still lurking the thread waiting for your (you)s
How thirsty do you even have to be
You can't make anyone mad by being this openly pathetic dude

One dude just wanted to get some seedcuck dig in, and the other dude was triggered by the way you said it rather than what you said. Hence the ow the edge.

Honestly I've only ever seen people get butthurt about pirating when it comes to a few really niche indie games with ridiculously entrenched communities, like Dominions 4.

>Hollow Knight vs. Cave Story
Difficult. I'd say Hollow Knight is simply better if you purely take them at face value, but that's largely since it's a much more modern game. Cave Story was much more relevant and special for its time, and is still a pretty great game, but overall it has way less content, is more linear, has more dated graphics, etc.

I hate how stuck I get in this game. I just got the long range dash in the crystal caverns. Got 500 spirit, and I have no idea where to go. A lot of places look like they need a double jump, or a special key. Just got the elegant / fancy key.

you must have missed every denuvo post-crack thread ever then, people get their panties in a twist all the time over this shit
>calling anyone pathetic while being on Sup Forums

What good is being relevant in the face of next to no competition ? Cave story wasn't even influential enough to have any imitators, at least not any that ever amounted to anything. It was a cute little game but it's very easily forgotten to me, and honestly the amount of milking to it has gone through without ever adding any new content was nothing short of disgusting

okay thanks

as a side note, just got double jump, any suggestions as to what I should pick up with it first?

Saying you just got the super dash doesn't give much to go on. You can technically get that immediately after getting the walljump.

The game is in fact completely open after getting the walljump.

I'll play it on my Switch soon.

>Cave Story
>has more dated graphics
lad
pixel graphics don't age

I don't know that feeling at all. You can explore into any direction and find something new, that's one thing that makes this game so great. You need to pay attention to your surroundings, though. Buy the normal key from the merchant, or explore the left areas more.

Go wherever you want. You can literally explore into any direction to find new stuff, that's the great part. Make sure to remember stuff you find, also. You'll need to return later once you got new stuff. With double jump you can reach some new areas in the Crystal Caverns, for example.

I'm so sorry.
They can do. Those particular ones don't, though.

I think he just means it's pixel art, which was a big fad then but is getting killed off now. HK is more just good modern artwork (and a fucking lot of it). Better than Owlboy desu

HK's artwork is anything but modern, hand-drawn frames of traditional animation is straight up antiquated

Deepnest is the only seal I've removed, I don't have access to those trains with sealed doors in front of them. I feel like i need access to those elevators, but they just say they have an open slot and i have nothing to put in them. I just found the area you put the kingdom seal in.

You know full well that's not true within the context of this conversation.

Yeah, but HK visual design is amazing.

Not like DUST: AET bullshit that aged like spoiled milk it was before.

Seriously, few years from now on people will be mostly complaining about lack of 4k native but visuals of HK still will look great. Just like SoTN still holding up.

Why are you sorry?
Playing metroidvanias on a handheld is comfy

kill the big roach
walk away

Exactly. The point is that Cave Story was influential, or that's at least what people say afaik, but I don't see how it's supposed to be better than all modern indie games.

That said, I still really like the game. Had a lot of fun until I got stuck you know exactly where.

I didn't mean the pixel graphics per se. In comparison to Cave Story HK has much more going for it graphics wise. The lightning is great, the screen effects (like bugs scrawling over your screen) are incredibly atmoshperic, many areas (especially greenpath) are full of details, great visual design in general. In comparison to that Cave Story looks barren.

What is so great about this game? I'm considering buying or pirating it.

HK will age eventually. You can already see its simplicity right now (it really reminds me of Sup Forums's art style). Although, even Dust isn't really that aged. Sure you can date it but it's not like Ocarina of Time or something.
Well if you're rich enough to buy into consoles on day one with no fears of it failing I guess I'm not sorry. Just jealous.
I'm with you on the details. HK has a hell of a lot more going on.

Alright, one quesion about the hunter journal.
I'm in the white palace, I heard you can get locked out of finishing your hunter journal if you miss something here? What/where is it?

Dust looks disgusting now

Actually, that's not true, you will get entry after finishing it I was wrong

How does the game compare to Rabi-Ribi?
Is the game still unplayable due to the stuttering?

Is your internet shit?

--It's a good metroidvania. It's clearly well thought-out, and it does its own thing. It doesn't just copy Metroid or some other nerd favourite, like that shitty Axiom Verge. It's got an interesting setting, although that IS pretty follow-the-Dark Souls, and it's got a good art style/atmosphere.
I wouldn't call this disgusting. Dated, yes, not disgusting.

shilling for this game is out of the charts, fuck off

I really don't, because I don't understand what you mean by that. HK's art follows a certain tradition that is now old and has been abandoned by the industry outside of very niche releases.

Low res artwork imitating NES graphics that people faultly call "pixel art" (all art that is not vectorial is pixel-based, what a terrible name) has never been an actual thing outside the faux-retro movement, because the industry only stuck with it for the precise amount of time it took it to move on to bigger, better things, only going back to it when production costs and memory space were an issue.

>that shading
Ewww
*shudders*

Plays a lot like a Metroidvania.
>Executed incredibly well, everything feels mostly like a finished game. Many indie games are lagging in some regard, this here feels finished
>Incredible amount of content, easily 30 hours
>Not very linear at all
>Draws inspiration from some stuff (like Dark Souls or Bloodborne) but without ever seeming like a rip-off (like Salt and Santuary or something)
>Just pretty in general, great music
>Does its own thing

Sorry but Shovel Knight still holds that title and they pay me more

>Is the game still unplayable due to the stuttering?
Yes
>I don't want people to like this game that's not what Sup Forums is about
>all art that is not vectorial is pixel-based, what a terrible name
Autism

I don't even know how the rest of your comment is relevant. Yeah retro pixel art wasn't a thing outside indies. So? It was a thing with indies, now it's fading and the stuff HK's doing is more modern.

How's it feel to have no taste

anyone get major frame drops? I have a pretty good computer, gtx 770, i7-6700k, and sometimes the game will hang and fast forward ~1 second. It's killed me more than once, pretty aggrivating.

That shading is pretty bad man. It's one of the things dating it.

Shovel Knight was alright, Plague of Shadows was incredible. I wish they just made a new game with Spectre Knight, though.

nicee

Performance patches soon, apparently. The stuttering is a common issue.

it was on Steam top sellers and was publicised all over the place you fucking retards

Deep Nest (when you are going for the Tram Pass) was so bad I had to restart the game.

Overall the game is pretty great. It satisfies my megaman itch.

my favourite indie game is undoubtedly risk of rain

> getting the charm that lets you dash twice as much

As someone with a 780Ti and i7-6970k I can tell you, yes.
It's annoying as fuck when you're fighting 1 single enemy in a 2D game and it hangs.

I've only had it 2 times in 8 hours of playtime tho.

what bug?. 8 hours in no problems besides the occasional stutter.

Something to do with some notch or other. I dunno, I deliberately read as little as possible because I haven't gotten there yet (because I gave up because of boss-fight stutters).

...

I do not know what that picture is because I have not clicked it.

La-Mulana taught me not to be curious.

did not mean to quote anyone

...

Then I will click it.

And I am glad that I did.

This game's gonna get way more popular btw. Some big YouTubers are going to pick it up.

Source?

otherwise you're full of shit.

Previous threads motherfucker.

I think he is talking about Colosseum bugs that affected non-steam versions

It's pretty good, some bits run like shit on my computer though.

It's a lot of fun after getting the dash and wall jump, before that it's a solid few hours without much to work with which could turn ADHD kids off.

Some people don't get the Notch drop in the first colosseum fight. It was fixed by now, but it kept you from 100% the game. Frustrating, but not gamebreaking.

I thought it was only fixed in the non-pirated version?

If the pirated version works then sure, no reason not to pirate if you want to.

How hard is this game?
