Metal gear solid portable ops

Is this worth playing? It's the only mgs game I haven't played.

I loaded it up on a psp emulator and quit after like 10min because of the dogshit controls, is it worth it to bear through for the story?

it's pretty meh, and even Kojima himself retconned it out of the existence via PW, as he wasn't involved in the making of PO. It's fanfic-tier at best, and yeah - the controls are crappy.

Not really. It tries to be complex and twisty the same way mgs 1-3 are, but falls flat.

On top of that, since it's not a Kojima game and has bad controls, it's no wonder it's such a forgettable entry inthe series

forget this one entirely!
See:
>it's not a Kojima game and has bad controls

Play PW instead

Portable Ops' story is just a bad rehash of MGS1 and was basically retconned by Peace Walker. If you don't like the gameplay, it's not worth it.

You get to see gray fox's story in action which is pretty cool
Also you're fucking retarded, it's an emulator; map the d pad to your right stick and boom you have proper controls

>You get to see gray fox's story in action which is pretty cool
more like they fucking RUINED Grey Fox completely.

It's pretty cool and has the best music in the series.

>Kojima himself retconned it
No he didn't, he retconned MGS with the shitty games following PO.

It's a good spinoff and the last proper MGS game.

>more like they fucking RUINED Grey Fox completely.
The fuck are you on about?

>No he didn't, he retconned MGS with the shitty games following PO.
buttmad PO-fag detected.
PW fixed goddamn everything wrong with PO, and 4 was superb.

PO is a terrible joke.

>muh null! Can't feel a pain! I was anti-BB ninja all along!!

I think he means that making him an emotionless ninja pre-MG1 makes no fucking sense, because in MG1 and 2 he was a fairly normal (but skilled) guy who just disagreed with you

not "turbo-autist weeaboo man"

Gray fox already had a backstory you fucking pleb, it's a central plot point in Metal Gear 2

Portable Ops is a huge retcon that makes the entire character centralized around the cyborg ninja because HEY I RECOGNIZE THAT FROM MGS1 LOL

Hey faggot that played every msg. Go figure

Except the story? Because everything that followed PO was trash bin tier.

On the contrary.
PO was the rock bottom.

4 was a fine swansong nostalgia trip that tied the loose ends, and PW was superb birth and growth story of Outer Heaven.

wew lad

>playing MGS4
>get to Haven
Good lord this ship is like a FROG clown car, how many of these bitches are there, I must've killed like 50 of them and they're still spawning

>killing people

I played it normally once, I wanted to rambo through it the second time around

Also
>stealth game
>expects you not to kill people or use lethal force
>but gives you a retarded amount of weapons and shits infinite amounts of ammo on you

No.
It's good for what it is, a portable stealth game with very MGS1/MGS2 style sneaking, but the story is garbage and completely dismissable. If you don't enjoy it, don't force it.

Metal Gear characters get retconned all the time. Big Boss also had a backstory that was retconned in 3 and then ruined with V. That's more offensive than some side character.

Get etal gear acid instead. Wonderful game

Was my first MGS and pretty much the only reason I bought a psp. Loved the game but nowadays the controls probably feel a bit iffy.

Storywise it's a million times better than MGSV though.

Big Boss' """"backstory""" was a blurb in the instruction manual written by some intern that wasn't overseen by Kojima

and nothing was ruined by V, you're just a pleb mad you didn't get to see muh babby sniper wolf and hurr durr didn't get to play as muh biggu bossu
