What was the first console (or gaming platform) you grew up with and how has the said console affected your taste, preference, etc. in vidya(if any)?

>PS1
>I tend to play games properly if I play it on a console and I prefer the design of PlayStation controllers than the other controllers like the Xbox360 and GameCube controllers.

If this wasn't your first you need to leave Sup Forums.

i had a sega genesis and a NES concurrently

NES, then it was pretty much down the line with Nintendo.
There was a Game Gear in there. All the Nintendo handhelds, except only the first wave. A PS2 that broke down when it first came out.

The only thing I think I haven't really had is the Sega Genesis, PS1, the Wii U, the PSP, and now the Switch. Oh and Atari.

This shit. It was just a fake nes tho.

pc, console peasants can suck my dick xd

I started with a Gameboy Color, my first home console was a PS1

I have a rather open mind when it comes to games regardless of genre and origin because of it, but JRPGs are my favorites

...

>What was the first console (or gaming platform) you grew up with

>XBOX HUEG
>mostly play RTS, don't currently own a console
>360 controller is best controller
>identify as an idort
Eh, thanks Master Chief?

Famicom clone in 1992
I'm still a pirate

I mention it as my first but only cause i forget the name of the Keyboard/Floppydisk thing

>10 million games included

wow and you don't even get a single one with the switch

>N64
>Drawn to colourful characters and fun gameplay
>Honestly don't give a solitary fuck about graphics

Sega Megadrive and PC.
Severe autismo.

Does it have blast processing though? Go play Mario Kart haha

>IT'S JUST NOT A GAME ANYMORE!!

>Drawn to what i can afford
>Spent most of adolescence playing Ragnarok & Runescape

...

Sega Master System with Phantasy Star and Ultima IV which I guess is the reason I still love games that gives me that grand adventure feel.

C64
always been mainly a PC user, but i have consoles for the exclusives
first console was PS1

>brain responds to x, square, triangle and o automatically
>PRESS Y
>don't know what to do

Needs more wood panels.

>What was the first console (or gaming platform) you grew up with
similar to picrel
>how has the said console affected your taste, preference, etc. in vidya(if any)?
Introduced me to simracing.

I had an NES I the living room and a gray brick Gameboy that was my dad's but in practice was shared by my older sister and I. When I was in the third grade I saved up enough money to buy an N64 which was actually my first console and the first time I can remember saving up more than $100 to buy anything.

>Sega Genesis
>Love arcade-style games, with little to no story and action-based narrative instead of actual writing, absolutely cannot stand the open world meme. Also, that fucking Genesis sound.

I had a Saturn. I remembered playing Daytona, Manx TT, and Panzer Dragoon.

One time, my uncle brought a F1 but we can't play it, because it's a PS1 game. That was also the first time I learned the concept of having a different consoles.

>That was also the first time I learned the concept of having a different consoles.
Only kids stuck on the wrong platform did learn that. :^)

I think we had a SNES and a N64 in the house, the former would disappear, and the latter would be sold or something to get a PS1.

This had little bearing on what I like to play as an adult. I switched over to PC after my first job, and have only just begun to pay attention to consoles again.

That's why I got a PS1. Everyone played it and nobody sells Saturn games.

I also didn't had a memory card for years. Good times.

I grew up with a PC and nothing else, i remember playing the Neverhood as a kid and i think Mechwarrior 3
Never had a console in my life

>That's why I got a PS1.
You mean you got a PSX.

I got a PS One, bimbo

Had a Sega Genesis, but rarely played it. Played a lot of games my brother owned on the PS1, so games like Tony Hawk and Jeremy McGrath, with other stuff like the PS1 bond games. I guess it normalised the dualshock design to me

Went from NES to Sega to N64 and PS1. Nowadays I play very sporadically. I own a wiiu and a 3DS and only really play the 3ds. I hardly ever finish games and very rarely become engaged in the stories of any video games, often finding them to be pretty stupid.

Right now I'm playing Rune Factory IV and Final Fantasy VII, and I probably won't finish FF because I haven't played it in a couple days and jumping back into it seems like a chore.

>SNES
First system until the game boy. Honestly it never grew on me, i didn't get the appeal of the Mario series characters and never have. The games were fun but it was more to pass time.

The game boy was my favourite, though. Playing Pokemon and dragon warrior monsters, and later on games like tactics ogre KoL consumed me. Definitely preferred RPGs, so I guess the SNES didn't really have too much influence

Eat shit

haha wtf were you born in the 50s??

Don't you have school right now?

nah I'm home sick playing zelda

That was mine as well.
God damn, kids are dumb as fuck these days. Good to know you're a genetic dead end.

PC, never owned a console

The worst part about my day is going to my classroom and having to look at all you shit students who I know for a fact are posting BRAAAPPT threads on your phone in my goddamn class.

Fuck you.

I'm counting it.

Take your pills grandpa

The first console I played a lot was nes, my family had Genesis and after after that a Snes from that we got a N64.

In none of them I had the liberty to actually play anything since shit was crazy at my house. One day I got a playstation 1 and shit was cash. I never ad a console that I actually could play because no one wanted to. I played a lot of of games that are my favorites until now.

My favorite controller is the playstation formula, my favorite genre was RPG's, I loved anything from japan. I'm still a sucker for stories and good soundtracks, long adventures and vast worlds, cute characters and cheesy lines.

What are thooooose?!
Get out grandpa ! Leave the internet for the Urban youths.

Mine was NES, but SNES is my favourite console.

I had a NES when i was in elementary school.
Megaman was the coolest thing i ever seen.

>snes
>I avoid nintendo systems because the ps1 I got in 99 was way cooler

hmmm

I started playing games on the peecee and a Mega Drive/Genesis at arround the same time.

Don't really think it affected my taste in games in the long run.
On the PC I'd play DOOM, Wolfenstein, Age of Empires and whatever else i could get my hands on, and that was lots of games really.
On the MD i only had a few games and mostly played Sonic and Knuckles and Alien Storm. I digged out of the attic this weekened actually. S&K still holds up, AS is incredibly "meh", but i was like 5/6 back then so i didn't know better.

I started with NES.
Mario, Mega Man, Zelda and other good shit were my early childhood. Can't think of better and safer way to start.

We soon afterwards swapped the thing for 16-bit SEGA, then SNES, and finally N64. After that, I was old and wise enough to save up for next console (PS1) and hold on to my old devices. PC came to picture in early 00s.

tl;dr: multi-way idort since early 90s, experiencing the golden ages of all sorts gaming.

if THIS wasn't your first, you need to gb2/leddit/

It was a modded PS1.
But what defined my preferences was an xbox hueg. Got a 360 later
Now I only play weeb games on my Vita and PS3 though. Never bothered to play a FF title
