Now that the dust is settled, can we agree this is still the best open world game ever made?
Now that the dust is settled, can we agree this is still the best open world game ever made?
Yes
>singleplayer MMO
yeah nah
I got my money's worth out of it.
Not when you have a buy a dead console to play it.
Despite feeling very underbudgeted/unfinished/unpolished, it was the closest thing to "perfect sci-fi game" to me personally.
It felt like I was playing a Star Trek spinoff of somesort.
I'm still booty blasted about this though. My backlog after X included Bayo 2 and nothing else.
Best Xenoblade game coming through
Nee naw nee naw nee naw
Why does the console matter? Can a game not be the best at what it does because the console is dead?
It's a ~$250 entry fee to play one game. A lot of the people interested in X come from a time where all of the Xenogames were on Playstation or easily emulated.
Xenoblade X was fucking horrible. Combat and story are far worse than Chronicles, AND DEAR GOD THE SOUNDTRACK.
Literally the absolute worst OST for an RPG I've ever heard.
Is it playable on emulator without the gamepad??
>awful combat
>awful music
hell no
it's not even in the top 5
Uhhhhh yeah!
amen
It's now the best looking game on Wii U that's for sure.
>Combat and story are far worse than Chronicles
Now now user the internet isn't a place for lies.
>tfw nla's themes grew on you
is this stockholm syndrome
It is a fantastic open world game with a metric fuckton of content, GOAT environments and shit to explore and really good running speed and jumping to go with them.
I haven't played BotW for long yet, but I think I'll prefer XCX over it. I love the fact that you can actually climb, though, and they're entirely different games so there can't really be a fair comparison between them anyway.
That hardly depreciates the quality of the game though.
NLA Night is alright. It's relaxing and chill enough and so silly it's laughable.
NLA Day though is dreadful and makes me want to kill myself. Also all the battle themes make me want to kill myself.
No good music
>nah listen to THIS
It's all shit, fucker
To be fair, having played breath of the wild (on wii u), I think the gameplay in both is outstanding. But I have to say, exploration in XCX feels way better than Zelda. And that because of 2 things. Higher jump and no stamina meter. Climbing isn't as fun as you would think. The objective is to get to the top, but getting there by platforming is more enjoyable than climbing there.
But yeah the physics engine in BotW is without a doubt what makes the gameplay fun.
bittersweet: the game
I love the setting, exploring xboxhueg world, and the world itself is goddamn gorgeous. Not to mention piloting mecha is fun as fuck.
I fucking hate the mmo-like battle system, sucks every little bit of fun from the game every time I engage an enemy.
>Literally the absolute worst OST for an RPG I've ever heard.
You haven't played much then.
I've played loads. Evergrace and Forever Kingdom are some of my favorite videogame OSTs of all time.
There is not much that's as dreadful as Xenoblade X's battle and city music.
I fucking loved the game but having to pay the entry fee did sour the experience and I will always list it as a con of the game. Nintendo consoles are fucking terrible and the fact that they have two 1st party IPs I'm a huge slut for (Xeno/Bayo) now means I will be on that hook for a while.
XCX is more about the exploration, BotW is more about the adventure. Either way, both games are made from the ground up as open world games, which puts them head and shoulders above all the crap from other studios that would be better if the open world were removed.
Huh, from what I know platinum doesn't belong to Nintendo. Why wouldn't there be a Bayo title on another platform in the future?
>I fucking loved the game but having to pay the entry fee did sour the experience and I will always list it as a con of the game
That's retarded. Monolith Soft was bought by Nintendo, therefore, the game will be on a Nintendo platform. So how in the fuck is that the games fault?
>beautiful environments
>fun as fuck to explore on foot
>mechs start flying
>just fly over everything and no longer enjoy neat environments
Haven't played a lot of them, but XCX certainly sets the bar very high. If exploration in Botw is anywhere near as good it'll make the price for the switch look not quite so bad.
Xenoblade X felt like a perfect reimagining of the first PSO. You had a colony ship crashing on a planet with mysterious shit going on and a government conspiracy, plus realtime combat heavily relying on gear choices and positioning. The world was divided into a number of different biomes - forest, desert, jungle, etc.
When you have to buy a console for ONE FUCKING GAME, it's impossible to not attribute that fee to the game itself. I paid over $300 for X. I am fortunate in that I felt it was worth it.
Exploration is decent but a downgrade from XCX
combat is fun, but framerate issues severely limit fun.
To this day I find it amazing how in fuck XCX runs at 30fps. Even areas with absolutely no enemies on screen, BotW runs at 20~22 fps. XCX I have only seen dip in cutscene explosions.
>Combat WORSE than the FUCKING ELDER SCROLL SERIES
>Shit RPG gameplay
It isn't near the top 20.
>seems huge
>start realizing the scope
>get a flying vehicle 5 hours in
>teleport anywhere instantly
Xenoblade Chronicles' world was much more amazing.
user, that is YOUR problem. YOU are the one who decided you were going to buy a console for one game. The game didn't force you, you made a conscious decision to spend all of that money on one game.
It forced me by existing.
>I paid $300 to play a single game, therefore it's a strike against the game
Retard logic
Wonder if this is going to be an actual sequel or just Monolith not understanding how numbers work.
Fucking exnofaggots lying to everyone about how great the combat is. lol you character autoattacks while you wait for special attack cooldowns to end and you only get 3 of them. dishonest faggots
there is literally 0 references to the old game other than reused assets. Of course it's not a sequel.
The only reason XCX was called that and not just X, is for brand and selling to retard impulse buyers for maximizing profit.
Yeah, I can agree with that.
Never combat is ridiculously stupid. The qte button is the same as exit combat and if you run from battle even miles away you can get killed. The soundtrack is so lackluster that theres actually scat in it mixed with uh uh yeahs
t. someone who doesn't know how to set up infinite overdrive and utilize combos
Xeno is just his "series" without needing to copyright the name. And you can say X is a sequel to Chronicles since the Nopons in X has a religion that is all about the story of Chronicles.
Except its Xenoblade's combat but improved. If you didn't like Xenoblade's combat why would you buy this? Actually, you didn't even need to play it. Why not just watch a video to see what the combat is like? And there are eight slots for abilities. Who hurt you user?
I'm pretty sure that was just tacked in by localization.
Is xc considered the old game? You do realize saga and gears exist
I mean XC. Those references are limited by copyright.
They might as well don't exist at this point. The Xenoblade games don't feel like saga and gears at all.
Hell no once I got a flight license the game no longer had a carrot to dangle in front of me and I lost interest.
who #cemu here?
OVER THE RAINBOW GLORIOUS SIGHT
60fps in the field?
here here, but any way to get reward tickets outside the 100% completion?
cheat engine or hex editing your save, but i don't know the exact offsets
Xc2 info when?
I just hit a wall in Chapter 4 where I have to grind up 6 or 7 levels to be on par with the enemies I'm fighting. I just want a giant robot. Why do I have to wait?
The game has beautiful environments that are fun to run around in, but the soundtrack is god awful and there aren't even any audio options so that I can turn it down hear my party members over the orchestral filler.
Tatsu is a living piece of garbage and if I have to sit through one more "you're on the menu Tatsu! HAHAHAHA!" joke then I'm probably just going to return the game.
The gamepad map is cool though, and so are the Indigen designs.
>the guy who did the music came out and said he shat the lyrics out literally in a few hours and didn't care
what a quality game
Like with a lot of things most likely E3.
The guy who did the lyrics didn't make the music
I saw the offsets for the EU version, but have no idea what they are for the japanese version.
I'm surprised no one dumped the 3d models in the game, to prove if that rumored elma orphean gear is real or not.
He may as well have considering how awful the soundtrack is. They should never have done any rap shit in general and just stuck to orchestral.
combat is fucking lifeless and dull
they were so close to making this something special
>There people who actually played this whole game on an emulator.
Wew...
Skell combat yes. Ground Combat is intense. I literally did not have a free moment on my ground build and against the super boss things one wrong move was almost guaranteed instant death. I admit it took a while to get there but it felt so good when I got there.
