I'm not asking for your opinion on its quality or whether you personally want one or anything like that. ITT we play armchair investors and try to predict how well this thing is going to sell.
I suspect the hardware issues at launch are going to affects its early sales quite badly.
Well when you inject artificial demand and have everyone fucking sell out on this shit, numbers wise, it fucks you up.
I fucking hate them for doing this

>you inject artificial demand
What does this mean? Is this another Sup Forums-ism like "unpaid shilling"?
Ethan Edwards
Well, it has a hell of a start that's for sure. I think it will sell anything between 60-100 million
Ryan Harris

Jaxon Nguyen
The Wii U sold 3 million units during its first month and they're only shipping 2 million Switches during its first month.
Artificial demand.
Dylan Flores
If they slap Pokemon on it it's going to do well.
John White
That's deliberate supply constrainment, that has nothing to do with demand.
If people want it more BECAUSE they can't have it then that might be artificial demand but so far I haven't seen anyone who said the want it now more than before launch. Most of the bitching is by people who missed their chance to get one at launch, meaning they wanted it before it came out.
Thomas Barnes
3DS sold 60 million and it's still selling. Switch is better in every single aspect.
Blake Lee
Easy 50m lifetime

Chase Martin
if it gets animal crossing and pokemon it will
Jaxon Evans
This is not going to be a total failure, but nothing impressive in sold numbers anyway. It was impressive when ps2 sold millions of units because consoles were something back then, nw consoles are widely available and any new entry almost doesnt affect market as a whole. Nintendo wont gobancrupt because of switch but it wont print money for nintendo like ds did in its time. This peodcut is just too niche to make any influence on industry, it just will fade away in 4-5 years completely when new console arrives.
Owen Watson
It will sell better than the Wii U (nothing to be proud of), it miight do better than the GC and N64 but no way it's gonna sell as well as PS4/PS3 or Wii
Bentley Butler
The Switch's launch was poor, despite what the Nintendorks will say, with the only launch titles being a $50 tech demo, a Bomberman game that will probably be forgotten in two years, and a game that's not even an exclusive to the system.
Lucas Nelson
It's just the terminology for creating the appearance of demand by limiting supply. You can call it something else if you want but it's the same thing
Anthony Mitchell
The real question is what their break-even will be
Oliver Lopez
Probably, if Nintendo (a) fixes their archaic friend code online system (b) releases a steady stream of games that people want (seems like they're gonna do that for 2017 from Zelda -> MK8 -> Spla2n -> Mario 64 pt 2) and (c) releases games from each of their most popular franchises (Pokemon is the one that is most obvious).
In short just depends on what games are being released for it and if the quality of the games are good. Remember that Wii U had really terrible first party games in the form of shovelware-tier Mario Partys, Mario Sports games.
Dylan Bell
3DS is better than DS in every aspect
Sebastian Brown
>the biggest game ever made On what basis? The gameplay is simplistic, the enemies and puzzles aren't particularly challenging, the plot is simple, the world is pretty empty. Quite honestly any bigger MMO out there has bigger world and more content than BotW. Literally the only thing BotW has is "Zelda" in the title.
It'll be easier to tell once this year ends. Right now they're going to have a slow start but once the kinks are worked out and it has more games it'll easily sell a good 20-30m
Nicholas Cruz
The WiiU was a trainwreck and even that was financially successful. Nintendo isn't Sony, they're not going to waste billions to try to force a format into households.
Last gen they had to upscale all their dev teams so it took a long-ass time for games to come. This time the teams are already big enough and they don't have to support two consoles at the same time.
Noah Flores
>I think it will sell anything between 60-100 million
Isaac Green
Depends on whether the normies buy it. No normies, no success.
Colton Gray
I think overall it's going to sell near N64 numbers, but ultimately it will be a failure as it's currently supposed to be taking the place of both the 3DS and Wii U.
It doesn't currently have the functions most other tablets have to convince people to switch out theirs for a Switch (I doubt people will want to carry around two tablet-sized devices in their bags), and overall it's not as portable as most other handhelds. Game library is just alright so far, so we'll have to see how things overall pan out in that category. Hardware issues probably won't help out too much either for people's perception of the system
Jaxon Martin
Except games
Eli Kelly
>80,000 units in its first weekend >Xbox One did 150,000 >PS4 did 250,000
>3DS sold 113,000 units in the UK for its launch in late Feb
Hmm
Josiah Torres
3DS launched in March too. Anyway Nintendo is too much of a pussy to duke it out with the PS4 with a holiday release.
Jaxon Phillips
We can't really make predictions until we see how well it does this holidays.
The first holiday season is crucial for the Switch. By that stage it will have Splatoon 2, Arms, Zelda BotW, Mario Odyssey, MK8 Deluxe and supposedly Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem, LEGO games, Skyrim and Minecraft along with Yooka Layle/indie shit. If it sells shit even with all those games, we can safely write it off. If not, then it will do OK.
It will also depend on what Nintendo announce at E3. Announcing main series Pokemon games for the Switch would be a big selling point.
Wyatt Watson
Currently it's shaping to be a Wii U 2.0 to me because of the release schedule.
It's going to sell better than the Wii U but not by a long shot.
Anthony Sanders
>We can't really make predictions until we see how well it does this holidays.
this exact argument has been made for the Wii U, 4 holidays has gone by and only splatoon ended up salvaging some face for the console.
Chase Martin
Mate, it's been out for a couple of days. You just have to wait 4 months to see if a console is going to sell well or not. Nothing was going to save the Wii U with that terrible name and marketing.
Daniel Cruz
Everyone, even Nintendo fans, now accepts that the WiiU was a failure.
It had some decent games but 13 million units sold is still only 13 million units sold.
Anthony Parker
the thing is the Switch shares too many similarities with the Wii U and one of those things is the weak release schedule, you literally get 3 more major games to look forward to and we all know nintendo don't port multiplats to their consoles, even if they do it would be horribly downgraded from the other competing platforms so basically there's no point.
niche weebshit are taken by sony consoles because nintendo almost always refuse to allow those games to be release on their consoles so not even that niche market works too.
Ryan White
Wait for E3 before saying what games we're waiting for
Daniel Murphy
Nope
Jace Barnes
already saw someone using it at an amc theatre when i went to see Logan
Isaiah Long
E3 is a good indicator for future releases, not recent releases.
For a game to become a game from a conceptual or alpha level it's going to take at least 2 years, 1.5 or less if you are going to reuse assets from previous titles (which looks to be the case for the Switch's SMT exclusive).
Even if they announce for a title on E3 right now it will mean that it will at least be another 1-1.5 year before we can actually see the game appear on the Switch, unless it's a port, in which case it will be inferior to the other consoles on the market or superior because the game was ported to the Switch 100 years ago when it's relevant (i.e. skyrim)
If they wanted to blow a bomb shell they would have done it on the official release schedule like how they hinted to the upcoming SMT and NMH games.
Christopher Nelson
In what sense?
It won't likely be a complete loss for them but it won't be a huge thing
Too many hardware problems, casuals have no interest, lacks features and lacks games. It is a not very good tablet pretending to be a not very good home console
Isaac Diaz
Everywhere in the UK is sold out from what I've seen. Haven't saw one on sale, and my friends are buying from scalpers. Think that might be part of the poor sales? They released too little stock here. I never had a single issue picking up a ps4 on release week, they did sell out but no one brought the knack bundle. There was just piles and piles of ps4s packaged with knack. People only cared for fifa here.
Ian Fisher
>or 2017 from Zelda -> MK8 -> Spla2n -> Mario 64 pt 2 4 games including a re-release?
That is what you call having a steady stream of games? That doesn't even cover a game a month
Thomas Diaz
I know they make zelda and Mario games because people eat that shit up, but they really need to get their heads out of their asses and do something to revitalize some of their old forgotten franchises. Aside from the 2 already mentioned and pokemon almost all their old favorites have gone by the wayside. When I first heard about the switch it quite intrigued me, but over time the only thing I kept hearing about was the new zelda and I started to lose interest. Now that it's out I don't even know what other games were released at launch. Which is a shame because a strong lineup of launch titles is what really generates the buzz about a brand new console. The thing still as potential, but there's nothing coming out for it that genuinely got me excited. I geuss it's possible I'm just outgrowing Nintendo however...
Brandon Wood
That is their fault then, launch window is important and they should have factored that in
Jacob Gonzalez
I wonder if the Wii is old enough for them to release some Wii Sports sequel and go for nostalgia from normies and the elderly yet?
Jayden Clark
It wont reach PS4 numbers but it wont sell WiiU numbers either
Brandon Myers
Yes but not immediately.
After one year Nintendo will begin selling the Switch without the dock and other accessories for $250 including one game and then I can see it taking off
No parent will buy their children a BING BING YAHOO machine
Samuel Anderson
>158
Bad move, normies will think the Switch is made of substandard materials and won't buy it, everyone else just will keep laughing at how shitty Nintendo treats its own fans/customers
Carson Cox
>and then I can see it taking off So then it is only an overpriced tablet without most features tablets have and without most games they have?
Why would that take off? They'll just get them a cheap one, they even have mario now
Logan Morgan
It MIGHT do better than WiiU but even IF, probably not by much.
Sebastian Davis
do we have sale numbers from the launch weekend yet?
Jose Ross
How would you talk me into getting goyconned?
Oliver Perez
I'm getting one because my wife wants to play the new Zelda.
I actually think Nintendo deserves to suffer. Buy a VC game on Wii? Prepare to rebut it on 3ds and Wii U. Friend codes? Fuck I'm tired of their shit.
I only play PC and emulators on the hacked Wii. The switch better get it's shit together, I will never buy another VC game or digital game for their systems. It's a fucking scam.
Isaiah Hill
Have you missed where the 3DS has sold 60 million? The Switch will be the 3DS replacement in two years and then the price of the Switch will drop to the $200 region and in two years it will have those features tablets have.
David Reed
Just by a wiiu
Liam Stewart
>letting your wife play video games
Angel Cooper
I haven't seen a single positive article about the switch that wasnt a Nintendo site.
This thing is going to be Virtual Boy 2.0
Gabriel Smith
>literally cucked by a switch
Christopher Torres
It'll flop. The market cannot justify $300 for a new game boy, and that's exactly what the normies reacted with.
The ordinary person sees it as a handheld with an HDMI in. They will demand prices that are defensible for handhelds (200-250 for system, 40-50 per game). The 300/60 per is too exhorbitant for them, and seen as overpaying for what they see as a minor DS upgrade.
It's fucked.
Robert Nelson
The 3DS is pocketable. The Switch requires a bag of some kind. That's a pretty fundamental difference.
Landon Ortiz
You do know the 3DS was selling like shit until Nintendo dropped the price mere months after launch, right?
Asher Richardson
Did you miss how poorly the 3DS sold at first? No one wants to pay a lot for a handheld any more, and looking exactly like a tablet but offering less will not help. If you are a parent and can get a kid some cheap ass tablet that even has mario now or some expensive switch which you heard breaks a lot which would you pick?
>it will Lets say your clairvoyance is right, 2 years to be at an okay price and with basic features after years of people pointing out those issues? Dead, normies don't keep up to date and that is too long
Benjamin Nelson
I can see it making mad money in Japan and Asia in general if Nintendo doubles down on it being a 3DS replacement this year on E3 or TGS.
I really can't see it being a huge commercial success in the west though. Not in the same way the PS4/Wii is/was at least.
Julian Stewart
It's shit and won't sell well.
It's been replaced by phones for easy portable gaming and the amount of people who want to play console games on the go is small.
Then by doing that they've made it overpriced and shit compared to everything else on the home console market so all they're banking on is their own games selling it and based on the end of the Wii and the Wii U that isn't going to happen.
Wyatt Lewis
It will be a modest success. Probably 30-35 million units sold over all.
Asher Sanchez
literally nintendo's final solution
Chase Richardson
I agree with this. It really should be 250 and the games 40. 60 per game is completely laughable and shows how out of touch Nintendo really is
Nathan Brooks
if Sup Forums is in charge.. oh... are you see what we did to SWTOR.. which means we are...
it won't... because we WILL kill this... shit...
Joseph Jackson
They are expensive cause of carts, more memory on them costs a lot.
Leo Wood
They know their average user will buy this console for Mario and Zelda only so they will get your money where they can
Jackson Anderson
Now keep in mind, if it were solely a home console then 300/60 would be a lot more acceptable - it's about what Sony and Microsoft charge for their games, give or take.
The reason those price points fail is because nintendo failed to convince the normies that it's supposed to be a home console. Their super bowl commercial made it look like a game boy, and that's how everyone is going to treat it. It's shitty PR at work again.
Mason Harris
Not even a 3DS upgrade, it's the first Nintendo handheld without backwards compatibility
Owen Miller
Hopefully not.
Colton Price
Why do you retarded drones keep thinking that the marketing and name fucked over the Wii U and not the fact that people didn't fucking want what nintnedo offered. Just like the switch. I hope this shit bombs so hard that fucking idiots like you can't discuss a single Nintendo product on this board.
Samuel Russell
If the price become lower with more games, they have their chance.
Switch is a new console/portable, nintendo is alo more appealing to casual and has a strong universe.
Nintendo cannot fuck sony in term of concurrency but microsoft will be the victim.
Nolan King
Ah, another shitposter without culture and have no real arguments whatsoever. How delightful.
Dylan Reyes
Sorry for triggering you. Get fucked.
Leo Robinson
How is Nintendo for casuals when they are the only company still making actual games instead of cancerous lice like Last of Us or the Uncharted franchises?
Sebastian Green
Same goes for switch, theres no guarantee its library is going to be better than 3DS's.
Nathan Lewis
I agree, Wii U wasn't appealing at all since the beginning with his enormous controller, the name wasn't new.
Gavin Carter
You're not smart enough to solve the puzzles in any Zelda game so why don't you just shut the fuck up and take your medication before your autism flares up again.
Ryan Gutierrez
I'm sorry to tell you that Nintendo will be alive and well long after you're dead. Ta-ta.
Austin Jones
Are the hardware issues an overblown meme? Mine is 100% fine and the few people I know that have one have had no issues either. I've experienced the desync issue on the left joycon like once but that's it.
Luis Cruz
this is the most idiotic conspiracy theory i've ever heard. in what universe would the "appearance of demand" be more valuable than actual fucking sales
Connor Lewis
It's a marketing technique almost everyone tries to use because it works. I know Sup Forums is only capable of parroting things they've heard other people say here, but at least try and make an effort to be marginally less ignorant in the future.
Xavier Garcia
Why does Nintendo CONSTANTLY fuck this up? An optical solution would have worked fine here. Could have plopped a fucking blu ray drive in the dock and been done with it.
Jonathan Gutierrez
>People know it exists >Zelda at launch >Mario at Christmas >Sold out
No it's going to fail, clearly.
Cameron Jenkins
it's expected to do slightly better than the wii and they don't see a 5 million in the first year
According to forbes.
A lack of solid 3rd party titles and anything new and original will hold it back, plus it being under powered compared to the ps4 and xboxone doesn't help.
Lack of app design from the start isn't pleasing. As the year progresses time will tell
Juan Fisher
This man. 3DS was a pretty big flop in europe but once they dropped the price and did a software loyalty program the 3DS started selling like hotcakes.
Software drought could have killed the 3DS off entirely. It didnt even have eshop for months
Leo Fisher
60 dollars is fine for large scale games like BOTW, but for stuff like Bomberman and 1 2 Switch, they should be 40.
Nathaniel Clark
>Why do you retarded drones keep thinking that the marketing and name fucked over the Wii U and not the fact that people didn't fucking want what nintnedo offered
Carson Rogers
>that article Americans everyone
Charles Brooks
>MK8 Deluxe and supposedly Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem, LEGO games, Skyrim and Minecraft along with Yooka Layle/indie shit. Half of what you are betting on are ports and niche franchises?
Jayden Morris
The scratch are real though. I'm always in portable mode now.
Nicholas Gray
holy shit nigger just stop. dont you nintenbros ever get tired of looking like idiots?
