Switch sold 80,000 over the weekend

Switch sold 80,000 over the weekend

eurogamer.net/articles/2017-03-06-nintendo-switch-off-to-solid-start-in-uk

For comparison.

Xbox One - 150,000
PS4 - 250,000
Wii - 105,000
3DS - 113,000
PSVita - 63,000
Gamecube - 69,000

In a sony country
In march as opposed to a holiday
Still did better then gamecube and GBA in that country and almost as good as Wii

This still means nothing though, it could go either way
And I dont think nintendo cares about switch sales until these holidays

DOA

>b-b-but
>i-i-if!
>y-y-you'll see!

Where are all of those Nintenbros that said the Switch will outsell the Ps4?

This heap of shit was meant to be "combining both markets!" yet it can barely outsell the Gamecube, Xbox One and fucking Vita, hahahahaha

And then there is this shitposting

Please tell me some Sonybros have been making another one of these collage images?

The amount of delusional "I expect 60 million lifetime sales" posts really needs to be brought back into the light.

>Breath of the Wild already running on Cemu
>Switch defective as fuck with mediocre reviews across the board
>Sold like shit
>Iwata killed himself

Is there a bigger JUST company than Nintendo?

3DS also launched in March

> Nintendo Switch off to solid sales start in UK
> solid

>1 million PS4s on day 1

really makes you think.

Solid by Nintendos standards

Doubled WiiU numbers. Good start for Nintendo considering its March, but they really need more releases to prevent sales from dropping off a cliff. Zelda can only carry the system for so long.

If they make a splash at E3 they'll be looking good.

Rule 3, enjoy your ban

>doubled one of the lowest selling consoles in recent memory
>"Good Start"

>literally DELETE THIS

>Good Start

Well, yeah. It's a 2-fold improvement and provides Nintendo something they can build off of moving forward.

It seems sales or more or less in line with what Nintendo was hoping for. Now it's up to them to build off of it, but this being Nintendo we'll have to wait and see if they actually do that

>80 thousand fucking switches sold
And people said this broke records? This sounds like a massive flop

SEE! The only problem with the WIIU was the name

Nintendomination!

>80,000
>UK

Unsurprising, considering that the UK is Sonylandia.

A 2 fold improvement over literal shit, isn't a "good start" you retard.

Especially when the Wii U was more expensive AND Nintendo had the 3DS to fall back on. The Switch is supposed to combine both markets yet it's selling HALF the sales of the fucking Xbox One. It's only 15,000~ more than the shitty Vita and Gamecube (other flops).

It's anything BUT a good start

They said the same shit about the Wii U, pic related

100K people in UK preordered the Switch? Is that good or bad?

Wii U sold around 200k preorders

Don't move your goalposts
>BUT NOT A HOLIDAY
>BUT

shit console shit sales was the bases of all shitposting againt the xbox. Now look whos laughing

>damage control - The Post

Whelp, looks like it's the Wii U all over again. Better rev up those golden faces and "sad Nintenbro Wojack" pictures!

This is hilarious. Sometimes I wish I could be that delusional about things.

is 80k good or bad?

Right, but it seems Nintendo's strategy isn't to face Sony and Microsoft head-on. Instead, they're trying to carve their own niche and build equity from that. Comparing Nintendo's launch to Sony and MS, while good for console war shitposting, isn't a good gauge of success for Nintendo and their shareholders.

Sony and Microsoft realize Nintendo's strategy. Hell, that's why the social media accounts for those companies congratulated Nintendo on their launch.

Shitposters forget that this console was released in March as opposed to the holiday season. Nintendo also historically sells less in UK. 80k for a Nintendo system in the U.K., in March is fine

That's pretty much what Nintendo shipped to the UK.

pretty much standard for the UK, especially for a march launch

Considering the PS4 sold 1.2mil on day one, not good at all

...

Pretty ordinary, honestly.

Looking at GameCube and Wii U numbers as a baseline, it looks like it's going to sell about 20-30m units over it's lifetime - a pretty distant third to the PS4 and Xbox One.

I mean, they dropped a universally admired and hyped game on launch; how can you say games are going to carry this system?
When 4K HDR console gaming becames the standard, the underpowered Switch is going to look outdated by comparison.

I really don't see how it gets better, man. They've barely improved their market share since the GameCube, have squandered the gains from the Wii.

Switch needs at minimum

>A price cut
>Netflix and a web browser
>Super Mario Odyssey to be in the same tier as BoTW.
>Pokemon ONLY on the Switch

>UK

Okay how about America?
UK is the most anti-Nintendo place on earth, all they do is play Fifa on playstation.

This is UK sales, not global. It's also not November

And that's WITH Zelda as a launch title.

Short nintendo.

Please tell me you're not actually this retarded

it's not retardation, you dumb fucks didn't specify that it was UK only sales

Still don't have a witch, wanting to pick one up myself. They would've sold many more units if they had more available. They fucked themselves because now they're gonna miss out on impulse buyers once the hype dies down.

You can't be this stupid, can you?

Mad nintenbros

damn you're salty

It's in the OP's URL, dude.

I'm in the boat with people saying "already looks to be doing better than the WiiU and not bad overall", even with the launch-units having problems. I still probably won't get one until a revision/holiday bundle myself.

But doesn't that mean it sold out? They hardly made any of them.

>I just typed nint0ddlers and the nintengaf mods censor me

underrated comment

also very true

>Switch sold 80% of what the Wii did

If it does the same everywhere else, that's a huge success. 80% of the Wii's lifetime sales.

so salty. just admit the switch was a flop already

I own a PS4 and a Switch. I'm not a Nintendo fanboy.

You on the other hand are a brand loyalist that seems to tie the brand to your own personal sense of self because you're a loser

What makes you think that the entire UK was only assigned 80000 Switch consoles out of 2 million worldwide?

Nice argument

Why the fuck would you think any console would sell 80k worldwide

>it sold 50% of the Xbox One

Considering the Switch's overall reception, it seems like a correct prediction for day 1 sales

>UK

its almost like... first week sales aren't really a good metric

Oh gee I don't know
>only game is a WiiU port and is a fake Zelda game
>hardware problems put the ass
>literally nogaems over the course of 2017 save for Splatoon sequel (port) and Mario 06

It's almost like, we're about to see another Nintendo flop

When your second best selling IP ever is available along with it, it is.

damn... and... the ps4 is going to sell almost 3x more than the DS.. fuck.. sony won again bros..

>it's not retardation, you dumb fucks didn't specify that it was UK only sales
>literally in the OP
>it's not retardation, you dumb fucks

>not bad overall
>half the Xbox One sales

Ps4 did 250,000 in the same time frame. Xbox One did 150,000.

80,000 is complete shit.

Can't wait to see these threads disappear in a few days when US sales come in

Well that's literally dumpster tier numbers, I can't even fathom how bad you'd have to fuck up to get 80k worldwide launch numbers
Despite what Sup Forums might have you think the reception for this thing is pretty positive

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ why not?

>the switch might actually bomb
Get fucked Nintendo.

And Wii did 105k. What's your fucking point?

See What do you think?

Oh, so the Switch only sold 80000 copies worldwide?

That sucks for Nintendo

Because the UK represents more than 4% of Nintendo's market.

Yeah but that's a dudebro machine with FIFA and Cod. You can only compare Nintendo with Nintendo in a given country.

And the UK hates Nintendo.

>Wii sold less than xbone

>we're about to see another Nintendo flop
And yet I can't find a Switch anywhere, except for almost twice the price from scalpers.

>only sold 17,000 more than the Vita

only Konami

>muh pre orders

Feels good to see consoles finally dying.
Can't wait for this shitty industry to be reborn.

If your going to shitpost then at least read the fucking OP

Konami is still making money though. They may have fucked over their fans, but the Pachinko brings in mad cash.

>comparing the 2006 gaming climate to the 2013 one

2013 is the most recent point of reference and the Switch looks like a flop. It'll do slightly better than the Vita and Wii U yet significantly worse than the Xbox One and PS4.

That's a flop m8. Especially when the Swtich was meant to be "le combining both markets!".

Stay mad

Artificial Scarcity

that its obviously shit and nintendo can't make good consoles

If Nintendo was foolish enough to limit their supplies 4 or 5 times already with other products, I wouldn't put it pass them to only give UK 80k.

I asked this in a earlier thread but why does Europe hate Nintendo?

fine, How about Gearbox?

>3ds sold less than xbone

Nintendo is rather anti-consumer these past few years.

"Switch sold 80,000 over the weekend"

So unless you think he means that the comma means they sold only 80, I have no idea what else I am to infer from this.

>giving internet "journalism" clicks
>2017
>ISHYGDDT

>only 7000 less than the DS

shit, bros... maybe it wont flop, cmon nintendo needs to go third person so i have some games to play, say it aint so!

u.k is fifa land, of course a console without fifa wouldnt actually sell well

PAL support was terrible during the NES and SNES days and abysmal during the N64 days (all PAL games ran slower than NTSC games)

That depends on how Borderlands 3 does for them, but the company is probably fucked because they sunk so much money into Battleborn and likely expected the profits to cover the cost for Borderlands 3.

I guess PS4 is a failure then because it's not coming anywhere near the PS2

I know for a fact that the Switch is readily available across the UK. It did not sell out.

too niche
they look at their games and hardware as cheap
no third party support
have a very anti consumer

>UK

>UK
>Nintendo

Its like using Venezuela day 1 sales for the PS4

So you based your posts based off of your feelings instead of, at a base minimum, reading the URL posted in the OP?

You can't really tell if something is "complete shit" until the quarterly reports posting profits.

Xbone had a huge marketing push at the beginning, but they are all but forgotten about now - higher opening sales didn't exactly save the console from becoming an afterthought. Maybe the Scorpio will change that. PS4 also rode off the wave of bad press that MS damaged themselves with.

That's why all I said is that conservatively, the Switch is off to a better start, doing better than the WiiU, which is a good sign for Nintendo. That's it. That's as far as my analysis goes.

Why should 2013 be the reference point for now? The pound is significantly weaker now than it was 4 years ago; it stands to reason that people are spending less, especially with the continued uncertainty that the Brexit vote has on UK spending.

Is there even a point in talking console sales, or do people only want to pat themselves on the back and shitpost?

everybody with a brain hates nintendo lately
they sell overpriced hardware that is completely deadset on being a toy instead of a media station like Sony has been doing for now three generations in a row, they abandoned the wii u and left early adopters in the dust without so much as an apology, they're dead set on squandering their IPs as hard as possible by making sure the gameplay is retard proof...

there is literally nothing for anyone that's not a complete retard in nintendo products
