Since there's a new Kong coming out this Friday I decided to play this, and holy shit why couldn't other movie games be nearly as good? You actually feel like you're playing an expanded version of the fucking movie. Even disregarding that this is probably the best giant monster game ever made.

The reason this was so good is because Michel Ancel worked on it.

Peter Jackson liked Beyond Good and Evil and Rayman, so when the studio wanted to make a video game spin off of his King Kong film, he specifically requested that Ancel make it so that it would be good. IIRC, the LotR games that went aloneside Jacksons LotR films were also good.

So thank based Jackson and based Ancel for this masterpeice. I fucking loved King Kong as well.

>that creature food chain hierarchy
>watching other monsters fight
>fending off fucking raptors with a spear

>Best
Definitely top tier, but I believe War of the Monsters, both King of the Monsters, Godzilla DAM, and Godzilla STE are also competing for that title.

The LOTR games were fantastic and criminally underrated as far as licensed games go. I'm surprised the GBA version of TTT gets more love than the console versions even though it's great as well.

>a new Kong coming out this Friday

Another one? How many times they gonna remake it

I remember renting it as a kid and having the dog shot scared out of me by the raptors in the jungle.
Crazy game.

>cast

No thanks

Aaand forgot pic

I remember cooping some of them on Playstation years back

Nostalgia'd

not even sure if I'm talking about the right games

It's a sequel not a remake.

Bought this game for 5 bucks for the 360 and finished it in one 4 hour sitting. Very satisfying experience felt like watching a good movie. Based on reviews this is what I was expecting and thats what I got. Too bad so many people will overlook this.

Return of the King was the one with co-op. I still remember when my brother actually bought it day one and we ended up playing it until midnight.

How do Sammy, Johny G. and Johny R. not make this an absolute watch?

lotr's gamecube rpg was fucking sick

actually I think it was 5 and a half hours can't remember

>Battle for Middle Earth
>Two Towers and Return of the King
>The Godfather
>Chronicles of Riddick
>Mad Max
What are some other movie games that were good?

It's about as much of a remake as the 2014 Godzilla that this is supposed to be a prequel to.

Batman on NES, Returns on SNES, and Begins
The first 3 Harry Potter games (haven't played the others)

Like all of these movies the humans are very bland, except maybe John Goodman who dies a retarded death anyway

Wrong its a prequel to 2015 Godzilla, as in it takes place before it and is in the same universe

What, it's not either, it's a reboot for the Monsterverse of Legendary

The Warriors

>post yfw THAT T-Rex sequence

>best giant monster game ever made

go back to bed

...

>Not pic related

Looks like more obviously fake CGI. You would think with 90 years of advancement they could make fantastic practical costumes and effects, but they always default to ugly CGI.

I remembered this being pretty good on the og xbox so I tracked down the PC version a while back and it is so fucking bad

The Jackson one still looks good today. Hell I think even the original stop motion Kong looks great. Legendary are just lazy faggots pushing out capeshit disguised as giant monster movies. The shit CG is probably why so much of Godzilla 2014 was in the dark.

>rampage
>im-fucking-plying
Go emulate this shit right now.

I loved this game
The secret ending was fucking dope too.

>that part where two v-rex chase you on the raft
>if you miss a single spear you get instantly killed

ONE MAGAZINE ON BACKUP
>one encounter with bats and raptors later

Oh no.

This game was fantastic, despite its source film being a plodding drudge.

What are some other cases of a movie tie-in game being way better than its respective movie? Spider-man 2 was a great movie, don't get me wrong, but the game was flat-out amazing.

This this this. Great use of the movie and expands on it.

five bullets on backup, gotta make em count

Oh shit that's even worse. I thought Kong Island might be okay, even if the trailer was really not giving me much hope, but this is gonna be terrible.

John C Riley looks fucking annoying as comic relief and Tom Fiddlesticks just looks absurd as this pasty 90 lbs "big adventurer" they hire to go to the island.
Also the director is an immense liberal maniac who sperged out and got triggered because a Trump supporter sat next to him on the plane and he ended up stealing the guys USB cord

I thought the Osama beard and numale haircut combo he had was bad enough

Not exactly a tie in with the film though

Stop appropriating black culture

this lad is also supposed to fight 2014 Godzilla and Godzilla is referenced at the end of Skull Island with an after credits scene right out of capeshit.

Holy shit i thought i was the only person who played this game. It was way beyond all expectations and was actually fairly polished for the genre and such. Best part easily the fight against the t-rex's at once though

>Marvel Cinematic Universe
>DC Cinematic Universe
>Star Wars Cinematic Universe
>Fox Marvel Cinematic Universe
>Universal Monster Cinematic Universe
>Legendary Monster Cinematic Universe
>Warner Bros. Harry Potter Cinematic Universe
Hollywood needs to get hit with a SCUD or something.

Thanks for telling me this, I was actually considering seeing this since I thought it was related to Jackson's film and the odd Apocalypse Now vibe that the marketing gave off looked interesting, even if the trailer was full of cringey capeshit tier dialog. I should have known from that alone.

I will be avoiding this.

>Marvel
>Fox Marvel

The fuck, I am behind on capeshit retardation, but what the fuck is this.

Also what's with 2 monster universes? Are we about to be inundated with 2 completing monster shitflicks universes?

>star wars being made into a new universe

It hurts

Too bad BG&E 2 will be butchered by modern day ubisoft's need for flavour of the month games and dlc and season passe

Would be nice if kaijushit became the new fad and capeshit died off for a while. With my luck, though, it would turn out worse and last twice as long.

Its a good movie tho. Comparable to the 2005 one. And the movie is actually pretty dark compared to the trailers

Oh yeah, Universal wants to revive their classic monsters cinematic universe which to be absolutely fair they DID do first 80+ years ago. The first of them is the new Mummy with Tom Cruise where the Mummy is a 5 foot tall girl so I'm not holding my breath on that one.

>Would be nice if Modern Warfare became the new fad and WW2shit died off for a while.

Two towers had co-op too i'm pretty damn sure.

I was like 8 when I played it

I was so fucking afraid

What is it out already?

At least it's better than capeshit, but you just know any quality is gonna be ripped out of it so dumb mr chink can understand it.

What a bad ass fucking game. Remember not getting to see the cinema in the film and thinking i'm not too bothered. Played this game and jesus it was good.

it comes out Friday but reviews broke a few days ago, mediocre to ''''decent'''' as you can expect

Surprised it took that long for this to be mentioned.

Don't forget Toho is back in the game now.

>>Marvel
Disney bought the rights to most of Marvel except the X-Men franchise

>>Fox Marvel

Capeshit has gone full retard the past decade, pumping out far too much shit to care about.

>Comparable to the 2005 one

Really user...? Really?

>That canyon part when you need to take back the fire but raptors keep coming and you can't use your spear as it has fire on it

Logan's looking insanely good though. Glad it isn't capeshit but actually something a bit more focused and with substance.

Why are all movie games now Lego shit? Every time I hope for a good game based on the movie, then it turns out to be a Lego game.

You are now aware that you can enable the HUD in the options menu

I torrented the x-men movies because I've heard good things about Logan. Tried staying interested until Origins: Wolverine (2009), never read any of the comics but I knew they fucked up Deadpool, and it was overall meh. Then the next movie was going backwards in time, and that just threw me off. Plus, in the 3rd movie they killed a bunch of characters.
I got all fucked up and capeshit'd out with all the Disney Marvel movies coming out as well.

Giant monsters are more versatile than modern warfare. Saying
>Would be nice if open world became the new fad and MWshit died off fir a while.
would be more comparable.
Looks like I'll have to pop it in and check. It's been ages since I played that game.

>the Mummy is a 5 foot tall girl

what are you on?

Does anyone have a Signature Edition (retail version) download link or torrent?

I can only find that shitty Gamers Edition

Reviews for movies are even less reliable than games imho. Not saying it's good as I haven't seen it yet, but I sure as hell wouldn't trust the same faggots that heap praise onto every atrocious Marvelshit flick and Paul Feig (((comedy))) either.

Harry Potter 1-3 on PC are based on the books.
The console games (1-3 are great) and 4-7 are based on the movies.

Days of future past retconned a load of shit i think.

I enjoyed X1 2 3, origins and the wolverine.
First class was okay but nothing special.
Days of future past completely sucked.
Avoided the other films.

DOFP sent him back, and it did retcon shit so they can bring people back and do it all over again but with a capeshit flavour and new actors.

I do like that Logan carries on with the perspective of how Wolverine has had to live out two timelines and see everyone die twice over and he's pretty fucking done.

I think watch The Wolverine if you can? Fuck the rest though. Including Days of Future past, even if he plays a somewhat important role.

But yeah. Capeshit movies, man. No thankyou.

What's so weird to me about Skull Island is that I have not seen anyone in America give a shit about this movie but the Japs are ridiculously hyped. Apparently they really love the shit out of King Kong. What's even fucking weirder is that the Jap Warner twitter made references to fucking Shin Godzilla while promoting it and has their own le monkey face emoji.

That's not weird though, they've always loved their monster stuff im sure? Atleast that's the case with GOJIRAH.

But yeah it is weird that they're hyped by this stupid ass looking film.

Two Towers did not have coop, atleast not the console versions

>All the other capeshit is shit, but THIS NEW ONE is looking good

Fuck off marketter.

Jesus fucking christ, how much of this capeshit is there. I am looking through this list and seeing films I didn't even know existed. God all this cross over shit is fucking gay too.

I remember liking X Men 1 and 2 back when I was a kid. How the fuck do they have so many now? I watched 3 and it wasn't as good and I dropped the series. Now they have multiple prequels, retcons, what the fuck? Retcons in a film series?

>mummy is a little girl

I hate this cliche. Little girls aren't scary to anyone but pedo's worrying they will pop a boner and get found out.

Yeah, I've caught a good chunk of DoFP once and get the gist of what they wanted to do; but they released it during the maelstrom of other capeshit movies and I got overwhelmed trying to keep up.
However, I will rewatch 'em all at my leisure cause I'm a stickler for chronology and like I said earlier, I've heard good things about Logan.

Japanese are not partial to their own monsters like they used to be. I know Japanese who will actually tell you their favorite Godzilla is 2014. They don't even hate the 1998 one like Americans do. One guy even said to me they accept anything with Godzilla's name on it even if he's "in strange shape". They just love bigass monsters.

all the games had coop you dumbo

>despite its source film being a plodding drudge.
How can you have such bad taste?

>Sup Forums gets triggered again because someone doesn't share their poloitics
Oh I'm laffin'

holy shit the CG for 2014 aged badly already, no wonder 80% of the monster scenes were in pitch darkness lmao

inb4
>pass the controller bro

Is the PS4 godzilla game crap?

Not the Two Towers ya dingus

(only GBA version)

>I am looking through this list and seeing films I didn't even know existed.
Yeah, Disney went fucking ham on Marvel.
>Now they have multiple prequels, retcons
Yeah... yeah... x-men...

>shitlib gets triggered by a guy who sits next to him on a plane and minds his own business

Videogames have spoiled you user. Why are you so entitled? Why can't you enjoy things? Why have you always got to complain and ruin it?

Godzilla 1998 was the first and only Godzilla film I ever saw until the 2014 one. What is wrong with 1998? I thought it was actually a decent film.

Unfortunately it is
The monsters looked amazing but the actual gameplay is hot garbage

>What is wrong with 1998? I thought it was actually a decent film.

Godzilla was way undersized and also the worst designed yet. Also the characters were kind of okay, some insufferable though. It just kind of came out as hollywood shlock.

Unrecognizable but above all else weak and pathetic Godzilla
Insufferable cast of cartoon characters (literally cartoon characters from the Simpsons)
Jurassic Park ripoff with the raptors
Inconsistent tone bordering on screwball comedy

The first one was actually that movie that nobody saw Dracula Untold

I thought he looked really cool. All the other Godzilla designed he looks like a fucking fatass, or like a fucking iguanadon herbivore.

At least in 1998 he was modeled after Jurassic Park's T-Rex. I really enjoyed that film, I am not into Godzilla has a franchise at all, I just wanted to know why the fanbase hates it. Maybe it was Hollywood schlok back in the 90's but compared to nowadays it's pretty good, and kid me didn't care back then I was just happy I got more dinosaur films to go with my Jurassic Park.

You are in fact correct, but because that movie flopped they abandoned plans for the universe at that time and are trying AGAIN with the Mummy.
But let's be honest, if Dracula couldn't kickstart this big ambitious universe they want then is the Mummy played by a girl gonna do it? Also Tom Cruise gets Mummy powers or something so I think they're gonna set him up as a recurring hero character or some shit to tie them all together like the Monarch group in the Legendary monster movies.

>Westwood Blade Runner
>Not exactly a tie in with the film
The fuck? It literally takes place during the movie and adds cool little details to it(like the fact Deckard is shit at shooting and can't hit anything on the range - which bites him in the ass in the movie)

still a fun ride

>where the Mummy is a 5 foot tall girl
Well, at least Sup Forums has something to look forward to, I guess...

The thing that people criticize it for is being a really bad godzilla movie, but not a bad monster movie. The ending Jurassic Park ripoff was crap regardless though

I don't care about shonen battle anime monsters who need over 9000 nuclear bombs dropped on them to die.

American Godliza looked cool as fuck and was a fun movie. Maybe now that monster films are gonna be the new capeshit, we can start shitting on kaijushitters.

Unfortunately Dinobros are probably gonna be heaped into that, thanks to all the shitty Jurassic World reboots of Jurassic Park.
