Why doesn't Nintendo just give up on Mario Kart and make Nintendo Kart? There's nothing more they can really do to make new iterations of Mario Kart worth the price. 8 already looks gorgeous, it has all of the relevant Mario characters, and even Link, Villager, and Isabelle.
So really, when is Nintendo going to make Nintendo Kart? Or Super Smash Kart? Or Super Fast Brothers? etc etc

They will. They're already making the transition.

Dead wrong, there's so much golden Mario content they refuse to touch.
Not really. I mean, they could make an actual Super Mario Galaxy stage, or make more gimmick stages, but they've already given stages to completely irrelevant characters like Boo, Dry Bones, Shy Guy, Koopa, and so on.
What's there to differentiate Mario Kart 9? Everyone already has anti-grav, flight, and diving capabilities. I can't imagine anything that would be revolutionary yet still make the game feel like Mario Kart.

They will probably continue making mario kart, but just continue to add characters and make tracks for their other series. Nintendo should title the next mario kart as World Tour.

Look at how well Big Blue turned out in Mario Kart 8. Now imagine the same thing for Corneria, or for Norfair, or for Kanto.

I would be so happy if they added more enemies aa characters top, chuck a Hammer Bro skin over Koopa. Give Goomba and hundred variants as one character, playing as Blooper in one of the Mario Parties made me happy.
Racing game track makers aren't as good or fun as you'd expect. See: F-Zero
If they start going full smash bros minor mario characters will get cut.
That's fine. We don't really need anyone in the Mario Kart cast beyond MK64, besides maybe Rosalina and Bowser Jr, since they're important enough.

And I imagine most of the submitted custom tracks would be nonsensical and poorly thought out. It's a fun thought though.
You also can't do as much as in a platformer due to not being able to telegraph where to go and how fast you need to be going to clear certain jumps.
I'd assume the next Mario-Maker style game to be released will be a Zelda dungeon maker.
Everything from all Mario Kart games.
Call it Mario Kart Infinte. And it'll be ported to every single future console after that.

Mario Kart is Nintendo Kart. Mario is also a corporate mascot and not just a character.
Why would Nintendo do that when they can just have the other characters be paid DLC and the fans will lap it up?
