The story is average but still serves its purpose

It's curious how less than six months later XV has proven to have about as much lasting appeal as any yearly edition of Madden.

- Nomura's original idea of a 3 game saga had to be compiled into a single game
- Tabata had to deliver the game in 3 years
- Had to cut many things that character designer Ferrari mentioned
- Intentionally focused everything from Noctis' perspective and the 4 bros
- Characters were shoehorned in after becoming popular years before the game's release like Aranea.
- Other characters who didnt have a defined role got repurposed like Ravus
- Others like Stella got completely replaced by Luna
- Other characters like Cor were completely forgotten after a certain point

This is a result of bad management on SE's part. Taking Nomura's team to finish and fix XIII & XIV while spreading him thin over multiple projects. All the while giving the game to another director who only had small time successes.

That's what happens when you fuck up a highly anticipated game.

Hell, when it was shown in E3 2013, I thought it's the second coming of Christ in vidya.

In the end we got what we got and I don't want to think about it any more because all I can think of is all the wasted potential with the gameplay, world and characters.

But only half of it's main characters served any purpose with regards to the story. Vaan, Penelo, and Fran could disappear and not affect the story at all.

You see him again before you go to Altissia, and he's mentioned as being the lead demon hunter in the WoR. And he will be accompanying Gladio during his solo quest.

People saw this coming years ago when Tabata proved to be utterly incompetent in directing the game in a meaningful way that didn't rely on shamelessly stealing westernshit design.

XV-kun desperately tried to keep the facade together but it was clear as day to anyone who played the demos and watched Kingsglaive and saw the trailers that the team had no fucking clue what they were doing and were merely putting together a mish-mash of trendy elements.

I hope Tabata and his shit rookie writer never touch another FF game. No lasting appeal whatsoever. No unique identity. Just a soulless AAA wannabe westernshit production.

It tried too hard to be a bunch of things and ended up being mediocre at best on everything it delivered.

Because almost nothing happens. Plot points build up to nothing and characters come and go before your even start caring about them. The story feels like a summary. But hey, open world and hours of party banter makes up for it, right?

You can still get the Day 1 Edition Five months after release. It's the same shipment as the one months ago. SE marketing tried really hard to make it seem like a record breaker by overshipping but it's painfully obvious by now that the massive shipment was only for the headlines as the demand is clearly not there.
