My dad is retiring soon and I will introduce him to video games so he won't kill himself from boredom. There is only so much time you can spend fishing and golfing IMO. What are some dadcore games? I'm thinking a good mix of easy RTS games and some more modern first person games. I need something high quality, but not complicated. I don't want him to drop the games because he doesn't have the required autism. This is merely an introduction. He will need many years before he can develop taste.

I'm starting with Age of Empires 2 because my dad actually bought this for me as a christmas present when it came out. It was mostly dumb luck that he selected such a great game. Now I will return the favor.

You dad doesn't care and will think you're a loser for not just going fishing with him.

Fishing in Zelda doesn't count.

My dad still plays aoe2

My dad is an engineer and has already told me he is interested in gaming. He used to go to arcades when he was in college.
I think it's great for normalfags. It has accurate history and it's actually pretty simple as far as RTS games go. I want to avoid any kind of weebshit. I'm questioning whether I should even suggest Japanese games.

>I'm starting with Age of Empires 2
Start with world of tanks you dumbass

nande

Fishing Planet

Get your Dad Stronghold. Seriously by the time he kills the Wolf on his own he'll be hooked.

Protip: look at the top selling pc games on amazon and filter out all the mmo/kiddie shit, that's what normalfags like

it seems pretty common to find old people in mmo's, way more than other genres that's for sure

Isn't AOE2 a little too hard for someone who has no experience in videogames?

Get him the original System Shock. Don't tell him how to do anything.

Shooters from the 90s and early 00s are good dadcore games, mine loves Return To Castle Wolfenstein or any other WW2 games

Is AoE2 hard? The default AI setting is pretty balanced I think. Going up by one makes it too hard though even for experienced players.

High quality, but not complicated. Pong! I bet he would love pong! It just involves hitting a ball back and forth, but just look how many copies that has spawned over the years. Nobody can hate Pong!

My dad loves Assassin's Creed

I was thinking more like Skyrim. A casual game for normalfags that will let them experience a level of immersion without having to rely on imagination.

>mom just retired
>never ever leaves the fucking house
>still does the exact same routine every day despite having time and money for anything she wanted to do

Personally my dad loves Civilization, that's all he plays though because he likes strategy games and doesn't like action games at all.

pic related, it's the most dadcore game there is

Then he can backtrack and get to Daggerfall! Great thinking user. :D

Skyrim is a good choice. Not complicated, can be third or first person in case he's a guy that gets motion sickness from first person for some reason, decent looking game in vanilla, RPG you can spend a bunch of time on especially when all you have is time.
Which reminds me, if he likes fantasy games or d&d, the Neverwinter Nights games are cool

>so he won't kill himself from boredom
do you americans just commit suicide the second things get hard for you?

suicide this, kill myself that

Civilization, Tetris and any form of Pinball

banished and stardew valley. my dad bought banished last week and already has 63 hours on it, and he's logged almost 900 hours in stardew valley

Can you imagine the LANs and monster rigs we'll have available to us in the old folks homes lads?

What a glorious time it will be.

games like Anno 1404, Northgard or Banished if he is looking for a challenge would be superb for a dad

I think city building games like sim city or city skylines could also be a good choice if he isn´t that much into conflict based games

this I think it would be much better if you did a real hobby with him.

you too could learn archery for example or build something together since he is an engineer

Well I was gonna mention any game for "grognards" but you said you don't want complicated games. Really I swear it's mostly older people who play the stuff.

You won't be able to appreciate all that because you either

1) will be too poor to get into a home were you won't be robbed and bullied by the all-mexican staff
2) will have dementia and forget each day how to turn one of those machines on

Just because that's your fetish doesn't mean it will be everyones reality.

My dad is 65 and he has a lot of health problems. He can barely leave the house without falling over and needing an ambulance. Please stop being fucking faggots and telling me what I should do with my dad when you don't even know a damn thing about it.

I 1st tried "everybody's gone to the rapture" to get my dad into gaming, because of no challenge, nice storry, no fail-state. Just to learn the controls.
2nd "The witness" same as above but with actualy gameplay (puzzles) (he likes puzzles)
3rd Alien Isolation. Mostly the same as above, with very little action. Not a lot of aiming requirements. He loved the old aliens movies.

My dad plays Combat Flight Simulator 2

I've tried to show him another ones but he says they're not as good

To be honest, he is kinda telling the truth.

well I also gave you 5 games that you could show him in previous post but you didn´t care to respond to that one so stop acting like triggered bitch

>I think it's great for normalfags. It has accurate history and it's actually pretty simple as far as RTS games go.

Skyrim seems pretty good

This is just a bait thread you idiots and no one managed to figure it out except for me, fuck i hate new Sup Forums

How is this bait?

This is a bait post you triggered bitch
