Relatively weak hardware aside this was a great console.

I've only ever played bowling on it but it was fun tbqh

well it wasn't bad. had some good games and a lot of bad ones too. something for everyone.

I legit liked it and am a little sad Nintendo has moved away from the wii control style. It feels like we were only just starting to get games that really used motion control well when it ended.

The mountains of shovel ware and "WAGGLE" memes probably mean it'll be a long time before we see motion controls again but I think they have real potential.

RS2 was fun as shit.

it really wasn't. mario galaxy and mp3 were the only worthwhiile games.

and I guess nmh2.

The best part about the Wii is it's ability to output 240p and makes a kickass emulation box with a CRT. I wish it had a touch more memory so it could load more NeoGeo titles but it's still pretty solid.

>Wii Sports Resort
>Trauma Center Trilogy
>OG NMH
>Mad World
>Kirby's Epic Yarn and Return to Dreamland
>Prime 1 and 2
>Wild World

OTHER GAME

>ywn play Mario Kart Wii online again

>a little sad Nintendo has moved away from the wii control style
>just starting to get games that really used motion control well
motion controls will literally never be good and were always going to be a trash meme from day 1

I like how people try to discredit this console because it had shovelware. Every big nintendo IP but Fzero had a showing and LOT of third party and lots of good jrpgs. Played it more than the other 2 until towards the end of the generation where ps3 got hits after hits and I just went hard on the backlog.

No it wasn't. Don't let nostalgia cloud your mind, the droughts were awful, the motion control games were awful until motion plus, the controller sucked and it was mandatory to shell out money for the pro-controller, and earlier models literally could not play later lifespan games.

NMH and Mad World were waggle, you could say they were waggle done well but they were still waggle.

I think the games that offered the real 1:1 or 1:1ish experience were relatively few but they were fun and it's something I hope devs can explore again some day.

Also the pointer was pretty fun for shooters.

>he fell for the waggle memes

The majority of games that used motion control on the wii were shitty party game shovel ware but that doesn't mean the concept of motion control is shit and some games did do it well.

Also you're a moron if you think games should be limited to buttons and sticks forever.

I do think games should be "limited" to control schemes that are incredibly more precise and easier to use, i.e. objectively better

It was great with homebrew, and alright at best without it

If a system has strong or weak specs,at the end of the day it doesn't matter if the games are shit.Wii has many good games.

>Wii has many good games
No it doesn't

I didn't like the controller scheme of the Wii but that console was a damn good and probably the last actual console. You could play with your grandparents, siblings, parents, and friends. It was backwards compatible so many of the great GC you could play again. Plus you has many great Wii games that were great with multiplayer. Free multiplayer was great for Black Ops. The downside was it was weaker then the other consoles but it made up in fun games. The shovelware was cancer but that was really at the end of its life cycle. I have a different take on shovelware games. Many are lazy but there's some that are fun and are a good filler game. Also don't forget homebrew on the Wii was really great. I see why the abandoning of the Wii U was such a disgrace.

Just bought one. It's pretty good for social gaming, but the game library is lacking. RE: Umbrella Chronicles is always a cool thing to break out.

Shovelware games were abundant at the end of its lifecycle. The early and mid year's had many fun and classic games.

>tfw playing Warioware Smooth Moves and Red Steel on the wii at my best friend's house and waiting for the new Pirates of the Caribbean 3 trailer to drop on his laptop back in early 2007
Take me back

The Wii was probably the last console I was actually hyped for.

>Relatively weak hardware aside

Every 7th gen console has weak hardware now. This is such a stupid distinction.

who the fuck cares about its strength relative to now

it was weak compared to the other consoles of its age

I have a day one model and it works fine still. Plays all the games from what I can tell. I was 16 when it came out and super hyped at the time. It's pretty much a Netflix box now. Hell that'll change when I get a smart TV too.

Does Melee fuck up on anybody else's wii at all?
For some reason the game crashes any time I select a stage on there despite working perfectly fine on my gamecube.

motion controls were shit, but being able to point at things on screen was ok

Zelda Twilight Princess
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
RE 4 Wii Edition
MadWorld
Red Steel 2
No More Heroes
No More Heroes 2

To name a few...

Honestly the call of duty games and the other shooters that got ported to the wii were pretty great. The remote let me point and click with greater accuracy, than with the pro controller.
The call of duty games were toned down in terms of graphics and kill streak rewards, but that allowed for more balanced play.

when has hardware ever mattered

If you claim many you should be able to list more than 10.

there's no logic to your statement

how? it was a gimmick console that came with motion controls and a weak ass library. only redeeming factor was its backwards compatibility for the gamecube so i could play nintendos last good console
