The concept is neurodiversity, the idea that you can have a mental disorder and not be treated like shit for not being "normal". Which I think is pretty reasonable. But like with everything, SJWs take it a few steps further and tries to actively celebrate it as a positive thing. Actually makes me really worried about everyone who could significantly improve their quality of life by receiving treatment, but choose not to because "it's okay to be different".

Look no further than CWC for Augusta who never got treatment because it's ok to be different.

this vaguely reminds me of my own struggles with asthma as a kid

I had it bad, but I really didn't give a shit. I still lived life. Sometimes I had to get hooked up to a nebulizer and sometimes I did a few weeks of schoolwork from my house, but who cares? I sure didn't. Life was still good. I had friends and did stuff I liked.

There was, however, ONE time that I felt bad about my asthma. I somehow came across an asthma support book for kids or whatever the fuck it was. In it there was a sentence along the lines of "...but some kids have asthma. These kids are SPECIAL".

For the first time in my life I felt like dogshit about it. I was different from everyone because I was ""special"". And kids aren't stupid. I knew that asthma was a murderous menace and should be eradicated. It was easy to see through the "special" label and see the arrogant, patronizing message behind it: "oh you poor, poor thing. You're stuck with such a HORRIFYING illness that I'm going to have to lie to you to make you feel better :3. Because clearly you can't handle it yourself and it's up to me to dictate your emotions and thoughts for you".

Then these days there's this shit about "able-bodied" people and applying diversity to illnesses. What a crock of shit. Illness should be exterminated asap. Not accepted. Accept the people, sure, but don't lose your distaste of what's hurting them.

alright, I don't even know where I was going with this or if it's even related. Basically, I think that there's a huge difference between the people who suffer conditions like autism and asthma, and the people who try to ""help"" those suffering on social media and the like. Or more often, appropriate their suffering (irony!) and use it as a stand to announce to the world how fucking virtuous they are.

Kinda important that all treatments are informed by the patient's own wish to improve their quality of life, not our expectation of them to fit a standard of what is normal or natural. As long as we follow that principle, I'm all for lifting the taboo on researching what kind of treatments would best improve the lives of people with homosexual tendencies or gender dysphoria. Unfortunately, both sides just want to stick to their premature assumption about whether it's a treatable disorder or not, so no one are really interested in finding out the truth.

Of course. The issue people are having is that their lives are empty because they must work jobs in which they are given the bare minimum to survive while those at top enjoy Luxury and privilege. We might as well live in the feudal age in all but name with how the classes are dvidied. People pretend hard work and guts will be rewarded, but for the majority will fail, while those with connections (noble blood) can put in half the effort and still succeed.
