Does this "sequel" seem really underwhelming to anyone else? It seems more like a port a la Mario Kart 8 that Nintendo not to name as such because they were afraid they already had too many ports in the works.

If it matters, I'm still getting it because I never played the first one.

the whole switch launch seemed rushed in general, as if they wanted to launch later in the year but had to do it before the end of the financial year

I'm gonna play the free trials and so how I like it

Paid online for one game is kind of a joke

>new Story Mode
>New Hair Styles, Clothes and Weapons
>All New Ultimates with Old Ones Removed
>New Shops with New Owners and Old Ones in New Jobs
Yeah totally a port

It's the nature of a sequel for something like this. There isn't much they can do, the artstyle is set in stone, all they can do is add shit. I feel if they called it Splatoon Redux or something, no one would really care though.

Game isn't out yet how can you tell if it's bad?

>There isn't much they can do
They could start development from the ground up, that's what's normally done with a sequel. Either make a sequel or a championship edition; don't make a super turbo edition and call it a sequel.

Didn't Splatoon just get released in 2015? How the hell does it get a sequel already?

Is it just because Nintendo is dumping the wii u and hopes everyone makes "the switch"?

>They could start development from the ground up, that's what's normally done with a sequel
Err... What? Not since the 90s. Engines are mostly incremental these days, primarily for economic reasons.

I am under the impression they released it to let people entice christmas buyers to buy it. The Wii U suffered terribly from the timing and nogaems. The Switch will have a strong cast of games by then, at least for a reasonable 2-4 game with console christmas present.

Maybe because it isnt even out yet you stupid fag

>Does this "sequel" seem really underwhelming to anyone else?
I agree. Splatoon was like Nintendo's one good original IP on the Wii U that was ported to the Switch. The way I see it, it's a way to milk people for paid online. Same shit can be said for MK8 DX.

They are basing themselves on the CoD model

>clearly new hub area, maps, story, and weapon type. And the specials have been completely replaced with new ones
>only one trailer so far
>"port"
also turf war might as well be 1:1 to the first since there will be many people's first splatoon.

It is the same shitposters that keep claiming ARMS isn't worth the price tag despite the lack of info we have.

Yes, also considering the fact all rumors said it was port. It's a port with a few changes like hair and shit and they changed the UI so it looks different but now it looks shittier lol.

A game in 2017 where the main gimmick is motion controls isn't worth any price really.

B-BUT YOU CAN PLAY WITHOUT THEM SUPPORT NINTENDO THEY ARE THE GOOD GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They now it's the Dreamcast 2 and wanted to follow suit.

Damn, Nintendo really pays attention to those little details.

Okay, tell me, what would set MK9 apart from MK8D? How different does MK9 have to be from MK8 to be considered a new game and not just a port?
You get new courses, you get new car parts, you get new racers. What else? New gimmicky mechanic? There's really not much to it.

Now, apply all that to Splatoon. What has it not done to warrant the number in its title? It's got new clothes, new weapons, a new hub, a new campaign, etc. Plenty of new content. What else does it need?

compare half life 2 to half life

Splatoon had a very short lifespan in mind as seen by them only planning out a year of Splatfest events, so Splatoon 2 seems like something natural that would come to the Switch. Either way, Splatoon was the literal best game on the Wii U, so I'm glad they're salvaging that gem and giving it life on new hardware

>splatoon 2 is literally xenoverse 2 tier

>tons of new weapons
>new maps
>new hairstyles, clothes, and accessories
>single-player gimmicks in the multiplayer maps
>new story mode

If Splatoon 2 is a port then Super Mario World is a port.
