Anybody else out there buy this day one and hate it? Adored the original, but I'm returning this or selling it on as soon as I can.

Why do you hate it?
I got it day one and I've put in 25 hours. Still haven't hit Ending A.
It's different, but not bad. It has a different theme and priorities, but most of the aspects I liked about the original are still here.
Im enjoying it but fuck when youre in a sunny area it gets so bright/washed out all the detaila in 2b hair get lost & the screen glares. Using a ps4pro on the newest model 55" sony 4k bravia.
It's a big combination of things.
First things first: I haven't even completed the first route so I have a limited view of the game. But I just passed the Adam and Eve "boss fight" and I'm not enjoying any aspect of the game.
2B and 9S have none of Taro's wit and charm. 2B barely speaks. Not a single character in the entire game (so far) has stood out to me.
The combat is flashier and faster-paced, but it's still just incredibly mashy with no strategy or skill required. Square square square triangle. Again and again. It's a lateral move from the original.
Terrible bosses. Both Goliath fights are just "stand and shoot, dodge once in a while." The opera singer boss was terrible because of the camera shifting that happens, leaving you completely disorientated while you get blasted with that stupid fucking hacking minigame.
The desert and fairground areas are over in a FLASH. Several repetetive combat engagements, a lackluster boss then that's you finished.
Literally nothing about the story or characters is compelling me to move forward. And I can't see for the life of me how this ties into the original. What the fuck do aliens have to do with Nier?
Why are some of the machines friendly? Why is there a difference between the machines and androids? Why, exactly, was humanity driven from the Earth by ultimately friendly robots that break apart like paper?
Plus it looks like shit with constant pop-in, but that's an extremely minor issue for me.
There are more issues I could list but this will do for now, I guess.
>First things first: I haven't even completed the first route so I have a limited view of the game. But I just passed the Adam and Eve "boss fight" and I'm not enjoying any aspect of the game.
Things change greatly Route C and on.
>2B and 9S have none of Taro's wit and charm. 2B barely speaks. Not a single character in the entire game (so far) has stood out to me.
2B doesn't get much time overall but her behaviour becomes more apparent the more you play. 9S gets more in Route's B and on.

There are actually a lot of different combos you can do but the depend on other Pod Programs and levels.
>Terrible bosses
They are bad this time around, especially in the mainline. The Opera singer boss is actually really good though and if you played Nier and can't handle camera fuckery then just end yourself.
>The desert and fairground areas are over in a FLASH. Several repetetive combat engagements, a lackluster boss then that's you finished.
Side quests are a thing.
>Literally nothing about the story or characters is compelling me to move forward. And I can't see for the life of me how this ties into the original. What the fuck do aliens have to do with Nier?
They outright said don't consider it a direct sequel, if you pay attention to shit you'll understand how the world reached this state.

Secondaries...The Great Space War is canon.
Preordered and started playing midnight on the seventh, I got ending E last night and cried.
There are a handful of critiques I have for it structurally and graphically and the postgame just isn't really motivating me to keep playing it (mainly because enemies stop level scaling after ending E) but, without any hyperbole, this is the best game I've ever played. I've played lots of games and this is the most surreal, involving experience I've had playing a game.
Only downside to this is that I wouldn't recommend it to people who are averse to Japanese games, and if you are I feel super bad for you.
the box art looks kinda like she's spread eagle with the guy behind her striking a dramatic pose. is anyone else seeing this?
90% of japanese games have omg lets be friends bullshit. Fuck all of them for real. Yes I like friends do I need to befriend a fucking behemoth because he's a transgender? fuck no Japanese games are designed for pussy little fags that can't handle something bad happening
>Why are some of the machines friendly? Why is there a difference between the machines and androids? Why, exactly, was humanity driven from the Earth by ultimately friendly robots that break apart like paper?
*cough finish the fucking game *cough*
What does "not liking Japanese games" even mean in this context? The story is strangely retro Western-sci-fi if anything.

>2B and 9S have none of Taro's wit and charm.
2B is a Nier/Caim fusion, way more heavily leaning on the Brother Nier side. She acts in extremely similar ways to him, just more quiet and distant. This is actually a really interesting angle because she's not the protagonist. 9S is also interesting in that he echoes several previous characters, but the parallels with Emil seem the most obvious and intentional.
If you don't like em, you're just not picking up what the game's putting down. And that's okay. A lot of people didn't click with NieR either.
>The opera singer boss was terrible because
I would chalk not liking Automata to personal taste but goddamn you have pretty shit taste pham
Thought Nier was okay just for it's style.
Loved Drakengard 3.
Loving Automata so far. I'm only on Route B but this is exactly what I was hoping the game would be like.
it really is so great that this game managed to deliver exactly what it promised. makes me wish square would've just done this.
Finally someone else says they don't care about 2B or 9S, especially 2B
I really don't give a fuck about then, Nier is so much more compelling to me
What type of level of virgin pervert do you have to be to see this shit? holy shit.
