Where were you when Quake saved FPS?
Where were you when Quake saved FPS?
yawn
Wow its exactly like every other fps since doom. Wooooowwww
Looks like the new Unreal Tournament, which never really caught on.
>new fps
240fps?
Looks fun, but it does not solve the gap left by TF2 for me at least. If theres anything I hate in an FPS its getting killed in a second. I dont really like a fight being determined by who sees and shoots first and not having any options for escape after they start shooting.
UT movement is nothing like that, you don't know what you're talking about
as opposed to fights being determined by random crits?
if you die in a second in quake its probably because the other player is straight up better at you
One of the good things about Quake is you can learn how to move and learn the maps so you have better armor and weapons than them, so even if they have literally aimbot tier aim you can still kill them.
Wow, it looks EXACTLY like the tacked on D44M multiplayer that ever hated. Great job Bethesda.
I hardly get killed by random crits normally. Of course I have days where every death is a crit or some shit but its not usually like that.
>if you die in a second in quake its probably because the other player is straight up better at you
I wouldn't know my negro I have literally never played quake
git gud donald
looks cool, will have to play on pic related though cause my pc is a fucking toaster
> I dont really like a fight being determined by who sees and shoots first and not having any options for escape after they start shooting.
Most decent shooters have this, but instead of escape options its just aiming better and scoring headshots before they can body shot you dead.
TTK in Quake is quite high
it's PC exclusive :^)
Yeah, I remember rocket juggle into a rail shot not being terribly uncommon.
Arena shooters are pretty bland.
Especially when theyre shooting for esports.
Oh boy, another hop around everywhere and snapshoot simulator. I'm sure it will be a success like all those other arena shooters that everyone is already playing.
>jumping around like retards
Dropped.
>f2p
>not idtech
>russian developers
DOA
I can't name a single arena shooter that is being heavily played right now. Nothing arena has the numbers of shit like Halo and Battlefield.
not sure why so many arena shooters have been coming out recently. Way too niche.
Yeah, all these, uh... huh... mmm.. Reflex I guess? So many.
>expecting arena shooters to overtake Halo and Battlefield
This isn't the late 90s
diabotical
reflex
toxikk
>Wolfenstein reboot was great
>Doom reboot was great
>Quake reboot is going to be great
How did they do it?
Diabotical isn't out yet, Reflex is too niche, Toxikk is garbage
They publish. Not develop.
No company could actually develop Wolfenstein + Old Blood, DooM, Quake and Dishonored 2.
That map looks worse than the original imo.
Any news on radiant support yet?
Bethesda Game Studios didn't develop any of them. There publishing division just gave enough money to the right people during a time where the FPS genre really needed to return to its roots after a half decade of nothing but COD clones.
>Saving FPS
>Generic bunny hop and strafing
Yeah I played these games when I was 12
If you want to save FPS do something new with the genre
>f2p
its gonna be shit
>I can't read
>Wolfenstein
>Doom
>Quake
>Bethesda Game Studios
I don't think you understand the difference between Bethesda and BGS
QC and OW are doing something new with the genre though, the difference being Quake isn't devoid of skill.
this is bait but kill yourself anyways
if i ever find you on the street i will sodomize you
>DOOM singleplayer
>Halo 5 multiplayer
>Titanfall 2
>Rainbow 6 Siege
>UT4 Alpha
>Now Quake
Are we seeing a new golden age of skill based FPS? I know >Halo > Skill but 5 has a surprising amount of movement tech and skilljumps and is much faster paced and has the most competitive focus in the series since 2.
Play Halo, it has a much higher TTK then most other shooters
Too fast.
>Saved FPS.
>It will never pull a fraction of the numbers that Call of Duty, Overwatch or even Destiny will pull.
Ded.
>Bethesda
>PC exclusive
not him but you're delusional if you think Todd and his Merry Band of Liars are going to miss out on easy console money
>Sup Forums suddenly dislikes highly competitive skill-based arena shooters
What happened?
kek fucking useless
reddit
muh flasflag
console wars xD
le contrarian
I sure do like bouncing around everwhere and smaping the fire button.
Such bounce, many lasers
I still say the reason the new UT didn't catch on is because it isn't/doesn't feel like a feature complete product yet.
If it had a full release then I think it would be doing better than it is now.
what are the odds they did what quake live did and they made bunnyhopping the same as spamming jump to go fast?
t. overwatch player
>diabotical
>falling for 2GD scam
Yeah, nah.
>overwatch
no thanks
you mean not overwatch no thanks?
or does choosing between a shotgun, pistol or assault rifle as the starter weapon hurt your feelings
Not going to succeed. Only Quakefags enjoy arena shooters, and Quakefags resent anything that's not a one-to-one copy of Quake 3.
play yames's game
I would, but it will never be released. Can take him 2 years or more.
DUDE ITS SO FAST LAMO
>quake ttk
>high
Not when the rocket launcher exists. Even on a stack that shit can take you out in a few hits.
They'll have to. It's flat out not going to work with controllers
But reflex arena already came out
>arena shooters
every PC gamer wants 'em but nobody plays 'em
Hello TotalAssCancer
Has anyone even made an arena shooter in the past 5 years?
I do.
i also do
Yeah I agree, but unfortunately it's probably going to be stuck in early access state forever.
its shit
its always been shit
there was only one game that could have saved FPS but it never got popular enough, because it was just mod of hl2 with no squad of marketers and youtubers behind it.
I can't enjoy an arena shooter without strafe jump and I don't like to play small indie ones that'll be dead one year later.
This new Quake is what I was waiting for and I think I'm not the only one.
It's been said, Elder Scrolls and Fallout shit devs aren't the same as id, MachineGames, Arkane, etc.
They were smart to buy the IP's when old school FPS weren't popular, likely much cheaper than nowadays. I'd be willing to bet they tried to get Duke Nukem but Gearbox was too stubborn to actually sell it.
It's like Quake 3.
They should at least try to design more interesting levels... Just because Quake 3 was released in 1999 almost 20 years ago it doesn't mean that they can just re-release it and call it "new" game.
Fuck off.
>never get HEXEN remake
sooo why would i play this over overwatch
>highly competitive skill-based arena shooters
so cancer? you fucking retard
what do you play in overwatch?
quake does what unreal tournameant
none of those are good
quake 3 arena gameplay is shit in it's core and quake reboot will proove that this kind of gameplay is boring and fucking dead on arrival. there's reasons why q3 fell into oblivion and counter strike felt alright no matter what.
fight me
pharah
quake just looks like a less fun pharah
already playing reflex
Hi, Frank.
>fight me
no need, you are correct
nobody actually likes these games
people had enough of their kind 20 years ago
its time to move forward, not "back to oldskool"
> there's reasons why q3 fell into oblivion and counter strike felt alright no matter what.
fight me
Skilled players getting replaced by a flock of casuals that can't do a circle-jump correctly and have the reaction time of a sloth ?
Q3 fell into oblivion because generally you can't just jump in, learn how to play and enjoy the game while getting destroyed in seconds.
We needed a new Quake to start from scratch with a new community.
staying forever in alpha is not gonna help them
watch this die out in 2 months while shit like overwatch continues to have gazillions of players
>its time to move forward
Yeah, I love moving at turtle speed too, not actually having to aim, and having a button that does everything for me.
>Sup Forums hates arena shooters that require skill now
>makes fifty overwatch threads a day
this board has truly been overrun by underages
people got bored and left q3 looking for new shit. it was pretty easy because e-sports wasn't a big deal back in the day and you had many options to have fun online. only people who kept playing it are autists with sunk costs.
if q3 gameplay was good in it's core then we would had many clones. starcraft has higher skill celling than quake and still it had noobs coming and other developers constantly tried to copy or alter starcraft formula.
there are reasons why no one gave shit about q3.
thats why i said its time to move forward
the fps industry has stalled
overwatch is an insult to fps genre and look how supposedly popular it became.
we need some fresh ideas, more creative approach, AAA devs can't deliver on that, thats why i put my hopes into indie devs this time around. Things like STRAFE or Spyre might peak my interest
sad!
What
>getting killed in a second
That's literally not quake's case though.
Of course it'll be niche, as it requires actual skill thus alienating 95% of the potential playerbase.
>arena shooters that require skill now
>overwatch
i know this is the exact kind of post anybody would do but i still feel like i have to make it
>makes fifty overwatch threads a day
>where all they do is discussing waifus
That's even worse
I feel like you are retarded and cant read.
>tfw the only technical discussion of OW is number crunching/DPS/HPS instead of tech optimization
Remember when Mei had that support tech where she could launch people with her wall but that was gutted?
So fucking tired of reboots and remasters and sequels. I already played these games 15 years ago, I don't want to play them again. I want new things.
i see what you meant now
but in all honestly your post could be understood either way
you think you do, but you don't
t. blizzard/ea/ubisoft/apple/microsoft/nintendo/sony
I won't care until we get another singleplayer Quake game.
Sequels and reboots are new things, you moron.
