The controllers disconnecting, buffers jamming and tablets scratching are all hardware issues. They can't fix this shit. They've deliberately gone off the radar to avoid drawing attention to it and jeopardizing sales, then will silently release an updated model when stock demands it.

that's correct, still Nintendo solved it properly on Wii U by forcing the user to add a PIN and when you enter an incorrect PIN 3 times in a row, it will afai delete the credit card details.
Still with the Switch people are now able to change their primary console all by themselves, which is on one hand nice on the other hand you may get the same shite as on Piss3/4, where people hack into other people's accounts. So in that regard it's actually fine to not save the credit card anymore (see Piss3/4 for what happens otherwise).
Always room for 8th gen if Nintendo doesn't make a proper 3DS successor.
