normally i would say JP dub but 9S's english VA just knocks it out of the park for some scenes so it's worth it for that.

9S's VA is great, i'm just not a fan of 2B. She's passsable but not quite up there.

Dub is pretty good. Really the only thing about it I don't like is 2B, but she's kinda meh at worst. she's voiced by fucking Runkachunk which blew my mind when I found that out

English dub is actually good in this game. Also I tried JP at first but ended up swapping because there is a weird sort of delay where the JP voices will start but the subtitles will appear a second later and disappear a second early giving you not enough time to read and focus on playing. That could have been an issue with the JP version of the game though.

I played with Japaneses voices, but I heard the dub is really good. What's bothering me is that the English script is completely different at times. Like a somber agreement that turned into "Okay, that's dark."

I don't know if they did it in European copies as well or not. I know it's present in American copies but not Japanese.

The only example I've personally found (which means more are possible) is that they changed the name of the NPC Sartre to Jean-Paul. Now, yes, I know Sartre's name is Jean-Paul but listen, this makes his connection to a certain boss harder to understand if you don't know he's named after Sartre since that's unclear now and what is more during a sidequest where 9S says his name there is a loud BLEEP censoring the actual name Sartre, since it's what the VA said, and the subtitle just reads Jean-Paul. I have no idea how much more is like this.

The dub isn't bad, but the Japanese version is fucking stellar.

So that's why people online keep referring to him as Jean-Paul. It took me a while to figure out they were even talking about Sartre.
Does anyone know why this was done? I doubt anyone would find Sartre's name offensive.

Same localizers as Drakengard 3 (And the first Nier). In DoD3 they changed lots of things, probably just because. Maybe they don't feel they do enough if they just do their fucking job.

I'm really grateful for dual audio on PS4/PC games. Being able to choose is a good thing.
