Russia at least gets its own regional pricing so you can, theoretically, afford games if you have some money left after you drink all the vodka you want. Even with tiered pricing in Europe there is no such thing and there's no way someone with a monthly salary of 300-400€ can afford to buy a 60€ game if he lives a normal life.
If you've got an ok job it's not so bad here since everything's cheap. Some people work from home for foreign companies where they get much more than your average person here working full time.
I knew a guy in high school who did something like this. He was earning more money than his parents. Bought a car and a flat near the beach after finishing high school. Didn't even enter uni or anything.

Eastern Europe guy here. Minimum salary is 400, but most people earn around 700 here. I'm renting a 1 room flat and need ~250 euros per month for rent, food and other basic stuff. It's just that a lot of people drink, smoke and hang out with others so they blow their money away easily. Never really met someone poor that they couldn't afford vidya, they just opt not to and usually spend it on parties, alcohol and stuff.
