Nintendo Scam

A serious question Sup Forums!

Why are they releasing Mario Kart 8 "Deluxe" for the Nintendo Switch and not Mario Kart 9?

This makes me think that they are just choosing the cheapest option and that they don't care about making great games.

DELET

because they don't give a shit

It can't handle any better graphics.

Yes it can.

What is new about the switch version?

it can't even handle Wii U graphics bumped up to 900p

see BotW

3 new chars and a proper battle mode with 4 maps.

Is that why Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is in a full 1080p?

Gold Mario is an unlockable character.
I'm not shitting you.

900p 22fps

I don't care about naming. Hope it'll be good

It's 1080 60 like how the wii U version is 720 60

not even the switch handles botw in stable 30 fps and that is a cell shaded game without any advanced visuals.

Shit best have Kirby this time. No reason Smash should have teased us with that

Many people missed out on great games on the Wii U like Mario Kart because it didn't sell well.

Ensuring everything goes well with the Switch as well as developing for the new technology means they don't have much in the way of resources to develop ANOTHER Mario Kart when 8 isn't old or worn out.

>inb4 Splatoon 2

Splatoon was actually relatively small as far as content goes, maybe they're adding enough it warrants a sequel?

new characters / reskins
new battle mode
local multiplayer up to 8
includes all Wii U paid DLC

pretty much it I think

It is not even about the naming user. Why couldn't they make a brand new Mario Kart for a brand new console?

So I just trade in 8 and get deluxe. Sure I gotta start all over again but it was a fun game.

You are talking like all Mario Kart games are different games. It is the same shit with different skins. Not much has improved or been added since N64.

Because basically no one bought MK8 compared to MK Wii and 7

>Shit best have Kirby this time. No reason Smash should have teased us with that

You'll get Pink Gold Baby Metal Tanooki Mario with Kung-Fu Action Grip and you'll like it, damn it!

Are you people actually this stupid? Porting a game takes orders of magnitude less work than creating a whole new one.

oh yeah, holding 2 items at once too

One thing that really pisses me off wwhd tp use wiiupad for item management, the kick in the teeth is they remmoved that feature after they had already implemented and perfected that feature in other zelda games and even fucking showcased it at an e3 for botw and they completly removed it simply becsuse that would of been a feat the switch cant do. Nintendo suits are cunts they may aswell not brought botw out on wiiu atleast it wouldnt of been leaked before the official release but the black screen on the wiiupad was just a dick move and im not even a nintenbro i do emulate cemy though

It's for the 24 million people who bought mario kart wii but not a wii u.

Jesus Christ, user. At least try not to type like a 13 year old.
You're not wrong though.

Because BOTW is a fucking mess

Because it's Mario Kart 8.5

I'm sure if it was called Mario Kart 9 even more people here would complain about it.

yeah they said in an interview that they didn't even optimize the port from Wii U to Switch, no wonder why FPS are bad

The port probably didn't take much time to make, and gives them time to work on a proper MK9 while padding the first year of the Switch.

Oh, now it's not okay when Nintendo does it, even when they actually add some stuff into the game unlike usual remasters

See CEMU load stats for both BoTW and MK8.

MK8 could run at a higher resolution on WiiU, it's not seeing 100% GPU usage at any time.
Considering that, it's not a stretch to think that in docked mode the switch could to MK8 at 1080p.

It still won't look any better though, it's literally just a semi-port (since Switch can run PPC code native) for Switch with a few extra racers but no new tracks.

Not impressed enough to buy a Switch for it - this is coming from someone who purchased a WiiU exclusively for MK8 (I pirated BoTW since piracy is fucking easy now, but I purchased the console at MK8 launch for MK8 with the expectation it might be the only good game on WiiU)

If they get their act together and a real new Mariokart, I'll consider it.

They're still working on 9's gimmick. 8 is to tide people over until then and to also provide the game to those who sat out on the Wii U.

botw has higher draw distance in switch tho

My phone is horrid to type but i got my point accross

This is a straight no-frills port, not a 'remaster' even - it adds 3 new racers but no new tracks.
It's MK8+Hat

How Nintendo could have done this better:
- Cross platform play with WiiU
- 5 new DLC, 4 for Switch, 5 for WiiU (3 new characters as a DLC for WiiU but included free with Switch, other DLCs should be 1 new GP + 2 racers like previous DLC)
- Discounted or even free upgrade for owners of the WiiU eShop version

Nah it's more like "MK8 GOTY Edition". Has all the DLC and a revamped battle mode, for £35

Never run a business

Does the switch version have diddy

So what your saying is Nintendo is lazy?

The Switch version has 4 new characters. Bowser Jr, Boo, Dry Bones and Inkling.

coz the switch came out mid-gen
they don't have a MK9 to sell, but need to tide people over

>you must jew people out of every shekel to succeed! brand loyalty means nothing!

It has all the same shit again for the same price as the game was when it came out, yes.
It's not a bad deal for those who never played it on WiiU (which is a lot of people, probably most of the Switch audience... since almost no one purchased a WiiU) but it's a shitty deal for those who actually purchased the WiiU.

Maybe Nintendo just expects that those who purchased a WiiU are stupid enough to buy any turd Nintendo throws their way, but I have no intention of buying a switch right now.
My hesitation to buy one (as the only person in both my group of mates and workplace to own a WiiU) has put a few others off, who have no seen the shitty launch issue stories and are holding off themselves.

Nintendo has had a great launch in terms of hardware sales, but they still haven't sold more switches than they sold WiiUs and since there isn't going to be any 'killer apps' for quite some time after Zelda, I don't see the marketshare increasing exponentially more like it did with Wii (and what nintendo is hoping)

>since Switch can run PPC code native
No it can't, but its not relevant anyway, as the game is written in C, as its all games since the original PS1, so you can well just recompile it and it runs.
The part that is actually missing is redoing the graphical pipeline to take advantage of all the new toys the Switch offer, like the fast RMX guys did to jump from 640x720p on the WiiU to 1920x1080p/1600x900p (variable), while making the game more stable in the process, allowing full 60 fps split screen (instead of 30 fps on the WiiU), and adding a bunch of new lighting effects.

MK8, the very best MK game, is locked on the Wii U, a great but vastly unused system.

It's a pretty basic bitch move to port MK8 over.

I think the next MK game will probably (maybe?) be NintendoKart anyway.

The same reason they released Wind Waker HD and Twilight Princess HD but didn't put the actual new Zelda on the Wii U until last week.

Because Nintendo learned from console gamers that they can do this. B B BUT SONY is literally true with games like God of War and TLOU.

>he really believes that

LUL are you retarded? i will show you the digital foundry video that reveals that MK8 is running at variable 40-60 FPS as soon as it gets released. its not locked 100 % sure of it, i played it on a switch event in germany

>NintendoKart
God, that sounds stupid and frighteningly plausible.

There is a lot of evidence to say it can.

remember that denver doesn't do arm 'natively' just like Transmeta's Crusoe didn't do x86 'natively'.

Denver can do multiple ISAs, it was designed for ARM+x86 but nVidia got screwed on the x86 license.

don't really know why they didn't just make a new one, but i don't really care cause MK8 was awesome. I still play 7 time to time.

couldn't they still do that and shoot out a patch? i'm not sure how that shit works or even possible with a patch.

i know what i'm getting with a nintendo product but usually they polish their shit better. korok forest even on portable mode is pretty bad.

No, it'll keep the Mario Kart title (gotta have those franchise name draw ins).

Mario Kart All-Stars or something along that line would be more likely.

They made a really good game that presumably took a ton of time to develop, and it didn't get the life it deserved because >wiiu

So it's easier to add content to that and rerelease it. There's tons of precedents for that this past two gens, and it makes plenty of sense businesswise.

I would also just prefer a new game, but you're not realistic if you thought that was gonna happen.

You can brake while drifting now

Driving assist for casuals

3rd tier drift boost has been added after orange boost for people that hold boosts even longer

yeah they could patch it, not sure if they will tho, since I don't hear a lot of complains about it (apart from Sup Forums)

Especially, also, since it would make even more sense to use MK8's framework and just release more DLC maps or racers in the future. If it ends up as the same amount of content as a new MK game, for about the same price, does it really matter?

Why are you assuming they ARENT making Mario Kart 9?

BOTW having 900p doesnt mean the Switch can't do 1080p

games and consoles capability are 2 different things

You forgot one, champ.

I kind of agree with you. It's been a long time since 8 was released -- 9 should be ready by now.

Either:

The MK team is working on a different game, or

MK9 is planned for release during 2018 or 2019, or

MK8 will be a DLC-laden platform they build on for all future Mario Kart releases.

>literally just mario with gold.jpg texture on top of him

>Why are they releasing one of the top 5 highest selling game in existence of 8th gen on the worst selling system in existance with all DLC and more making it the ultimate game in the series on a brand new Console that's meant to attract people who didnt buy a Wii U

Also your on the assumption that they arent making MK9

Nintendo always plans ahead

Miyamoto already confirmed the existance of Super Mario Odyssey(not named at the time) only a couple of months after 3D World released

And it's your new reward for beating all cups on 200cc

You need to chill but I agree. They removed a ton of stuff from Zelda just so the Wii U version wouldn't be superior in some manner.

It makes sense selling a game like MK8 3 years later with all DLC instead on a new console than a game like Last of Us a year later on PS4

Especially with the Switch's gimmick of going outside

>This makes me think that they are just choosing the cheapest option and that they don't care about making great games.

He's learning

wait what

They took out the inventory on the Wii U version?

What the FUCK?

The gamepad on the Wii U version is just a black screen with the logo blinking occsaionally

It's the exact same shit as "Game of the Year" or "Complete Edition" versions of games.

could it be?

did OP finally take the redpill on nintendos jewish ways?

>Sup Forums cries about gimmicks
>They remove the gimmick
>Sup Forums cries the gimmick is removed

Literally can't win Sup Forums is one person

Choosing the cheapest option doesnt mean they dont care about making great games

They are just choosing to port over their most successfull Mario Kart in existance at Launch window

Your acting as if we wouldve suddenly gotten MK9 now

We didnt get MKwii and MK8 until 2 years after wii and Wii U

Shhhh Nintendo doesn't do those so he doesnt know

It's not a new character. It's a skin. Like the Shy Guy and Yoshi alts.

>Why are they releasing Mario Kart 8 "Deluxe" for the Nintendo Switch and not Mario Kart 9?

Because you haven't played MK8 yet

Don't let the marketing team know that you're aware of that though.

>blinking occsaionally

you mean constantly until you stop playing the game.

There is literally nothing wrong with putting an enhanced version of MK8 on the Switch. It makes a ton of sense.

If anything, they should also port Smash Bros and Mario Maker to the Switch with some enhancements.

They will, and everyone will be salty because no new smash

A port sounds like an immediate guarantee for no cuts as opposed to a full new game meaning no third party removals or more importantly, no lucina cuts :^)

Super Mario Maker Deluxe with a few more enemies and obstacles and a snow/winter and desert theme as well as an increased max length of levels.

Sign me up.

Because the Switch is literally replacing the Wii U as their home console in this console generation. Why do you think it's called the Switch? Obviously because they're "Switching" in this new machine and pretending the Wii U never existed. Despite what most people will tell you, the Wii U actually had a ton of great games that would have had more longevity if the Wii U hardware was relevant, so Nintendo did the smart thing and salvaged most of the quality Wii U games as Switch ports, see: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Splatoon 2, FAST RMX. If they figure out a way to have Mario Maker work on a single screen, I promise you they'll sell that shit to you for $60 in a heartbeat

Is there cross platform play with the Wii U?

Of course not

It's Nintendo, no. Wouldn't even work because online battle mode would be completely incompatible and they would at bare minimum have to patch the Wii U version to have data for the Switch-only characters and items so you can race with them, but still not allow Wii U version players to use them. It'd be a tease.

>Why do you think it's called the Switch

Because you SWITCH from gaming on your TV to gaming on the go with a single device.

Digital Foundry already released a video with first impressions of mario kart 8 on switch. 1080p 60fps while docked and 720p 60fps portable. And it wasn't final version of the game.

Because you SWITCH the game off and play your PS4.

>play your PS4

There's nothing to play, why would you do this?

But I already played Bloodborne, Nioh and Gravity Rush 2

+1 my friendo!

As opposed to the OG Mario Kart 8 you already played on the Wii U??

Now that's not true. He also has reflective material on top of him.

True, I already played Mario Kart 8 for countless hours on my WiiU.

And I enjoyed it so much that I'm okay with paying for it again to now play it with two items at once at 1080p60fps with new characters, items, karts and parts, a full battle arena with multiple modes and newly made arena tracks as well as purple boost levels and other slight modifications.

Will be fun for countless hours once more.

Of course that's not all. The Switch is also giving me a superior Breath of the Wild experience right now. ARMS soon. Splatoon 2, Project Octopath, Xenoblade 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Puyo Puyo Tetris... and many smaller titles.
All in 2017, sounds great!

>$0.03 has been deposited into your account

>This makes me think that they are just choosing the cheapest option and that they don't care about making great games.

Is this 2012?

They rushed out the Switch to please investors and need something to last early adopters until at least E3. A MK8 port helps with that.

They will probably make a Mario Kart 9, but the Switch badly needs games right now, so this is something they can rush out relatively quickly.
They're probably justifying it with the logic that since no one bought the Wii U, most people haven't had a chance to play 8 anyway, so this is their chance.
I bet they'll probably pull the same thing with Sm4sh. Might explain why we didn't get the last 3 amiibos last year like we were supposed to.

>They're probably justifying it with the logic that since no one bought the Wii U, most people haven't had a chance to play 8 anyway, so this is their chance.
They're not wrong.
