But Crash 1 showed improvement over time, and they even removed that annoying chomping sound for the Wumpa Fruit from the previous videos for Crash 1, as they're gone in the new Crash 2 videos they're showing off.
So, I can't help but notice that there hasn't been any footage of Crash 3. We've gotten a lot of Crash 1 and some of Crash 2, but I don't think we've ever seen the N-Sane Trilogy version of 3 in action yet.

The river level is the first footage of Crash 2. Before that it was just screengrabs.

Those shadows really do a number on Crash's eyes.

Crash had amazing hand painted textures and everything has a design based in illustration, especially the characters and their animations.

Everything seems too soft. The art, the animation, the music.
One of my biggest gripes about anything "remastered" or "high quality" is it interprets punchy sounds, quirky animations and rough edges as pesky artifacts that need to be removed
Those are what often defines how you are nostalgic about something, what makes it stand out, what you remember the most. They're a relic of a limited platform but that doesn't make them inherently bad, quite the opposite - you need to retain those aspects first and then build around them.
The weird noises in the soundtrack don't need to "updated", the fruit doesn't need to gracefully glide across the foreground, the art doesn't need to have a massive colour pallet with smooth gradiants. If the devs don't "get" that then you can't trust them to be faithful for any other part of the game.

The PS1 version just looks more impressive to me and nicer with the light coming from the ceiling, shadows and contrast.
The remake looks like the style of a low rent platformer that would have been on Gamecube or Xbox.

The enemies now have a poof animation when you jump on them.
The top compared to the bottom makes the remake look like a bland Unity/UE4 remake.
Lighting is utter trash. There's no shadows, no contrast.

That sound wasn't in the original Crash games. It was added to the remakes originally, till they heard the complaints. The originals only had a collecting sound for them, whereas in this video it's both the collecting sound and loud chomping sound.

here is the problem with modern "artists". Everyone is sperging out with the particular (who the fuck cares, you cant eve see that moss while playing) yet the total view of the scene is empty, the elements are slightly inconsistent, the light does not make the scene stand out and the water is just casually good

N-Sane Trilogy has been confirmed to not be using the original cast for a while though. We'vw had confirmation since they showed the opening scene from Crash 1 in December with the new cast. And Crash's current VA barely talks as is for the character and is trying to emulate Brendan O Brian's original voice though.
