The souls series

The souls series is coming to an end in the final piece of content to Dark Souls 3, in just 17 days.

The series has spanned 8 years, 5 games, 7 DLCs and has been playable on 5 different platforms. The series in total has (without the final DLC) 135 boss fights.
It has affected and influenced numerous different games or series, from difficulty design to gameplay mechanics.

Lets have a nostalgia filled discussion about the series as a whole

So all I did is go through central Yharnam over and over again amassing a huge amount of blood echoes and leveling over and over again until I finally figures things out and started to find new areas and by the time I got to father gascoigne I was way over leveled and I could kill bosses very easily which practically made it so I cheesed the game because I would keep getting lost in a few areas again and I would go around and level until I figured out what to do making me hilariously overpowered by the time I got to new bosses.

I've only played one game - Bloodborne.

Platinumed it in 10 days.

Such an easy game, don't know why people think it's hard.

Priceless.

Is this the new DmC? Why is Dante's hair back to white and in a ponytail?

What better way to start this thread than with the autists and memers flinging shit at eachother

Caught me off guard.

Am I meant to be autistic or a memer?

I genuinely did platinum it in 10 days, the games not hard. It's mundane, repetitive and not challenging.

You've been blogposting on Sup Forums for over a month

Souls might end but FromSoft already announced that they are working on 3 new games.
>dark fantasy rpg
>old IP with influence from the souls games
>new crazy game people wouldn't expect from them

It might be the last Dark Souls entry, but I suspect that there will be other soul games down the line that do their own thing rather than be sequels ( along the line of Bloodborne)

Too late, DS3 was already released.

I also felt like DS3 was forced.

Can't help but agree.

I'm playing DS1 for the first time right now

I like the freedom of choice in where to go next, but I feel like I might be fucking up the difficulty curve by not going to the right places

Like for example I just killed the Firesage Demon and Sif on my first try without effort, I can't tell if I'm overleveled for them or if I was supposed to go there earlier or what. I haven't grinded at all.

>implying there will not be another Bloodborne game, this time focussing on aztecs

BB was honestly too easy to 100%
They needed a no death run secret achievenent

Look at all the salary PC fags not listing anything from Demons souls or BB in their answers. These posts should be disregarded for objectively being wrong. How can you call yourself a fan of a series of you've only played 60% of it? Would you call yourself a diehard star trek fan of you've only seen 60% of the original series episodes? Pathetic.

>Low tier game series finally coming to an end.

That's nice. Will they actually make a new ip that won't bore me to death with its bland combat mechanics? The world may never know. N:A here we go

I've watched as this series went from being a very niche game that earned a huge popularity boost with the release of the first Dark Souls on PC, and from there its fans and reception have sadly gotten more and more bitter and fractured as time has gone on. I truly do love each and every one of the games, and they each have something special about them that I cherish. I'm ok with the series ending, but I would be lying if I said it didn't feel like an old friend moving away from home. I'll still miss it quite a bit, as it really was something special to me.

here's the reply

BB2 was confirmed a while ago, cahmann

Here's the goodbye to a shit series.

>not harder than a fighting game
>not harder than DMC
>not harder than ninja Gaiden

Demon's has nothing good compared to the others.
I guess Latria has good atmosphere but the DS3 dungeon that copies it is way bigger.
BB is fucking great though, Ludwig is easily the best boss in the franchise.

here's another

It's not even a series now, it's a genre.
Tons of more souls inspired games are going to get made and there's nothing you can do about it.

And FROM just said DS is over, they're still gonna make games like this in a new universe.

>Burnt Ivory King

>Majula
>Catacombs

>First time fighting Ivory King
Dropping down with the knights, fighting back against their Charred/Hollowed former comrades, sacrificing themselves to seal the portals, it was all so good. I always do my first runs on my sword and board faithshitter, so my damage was much too low to handle the enemies quickly and it made it really hectic. When the last portal was sealed and I dropped the last knight just to turn around and see that chaos doorway pop up and open, just for the King to walk out and Lightsaber my ass to the shadow realm, I think it was some sort of love at first fight deal. And I've always liked those fights that AREN'T super hard, but aren't super easy either. A nice middle ground fight with a few deaths before winning, like Alonne or Cleric Beast.
>3
I feel like 3 is just the most well-rounded of them. Though I'e always been more into Jolly Co-Op and PvP, so I gravitated towards 2 when it came out since it didn't suffer from the problems I had with DaS at the time, spending ten to twenty minutes trying to invade a world just for the connection to fuck up. I really just enjoy how 3 feels and how responsive it is, while also being the more traditional medieval swords and sorcery world. Bloodborne's more gothic/eldritch style was a nice switch up, but it's just really not my style.

Battleborn

I loved Dark Souls 1, but after playing 2 and 3, I tought maybe i was just getting tired of the series.
After recently playing Bloodborne, tho, I think is just that the "newness" in Souls vanished after all the sequels. Sure, DkS3 still have bretty gud level design and bosses, but I think they are too straightforward, even kinda predictable.
I just hope From avoid making endless spoilers

>but the DS3 dungeon that copies it is way bigger
Not as good level design either. Way too tryhard and the jumpscare is embarrassing.

Sorry, most likely not.

They waifu'd a spider

I know you're baiting, but the difficulty has always been something of a misnomer with this series. It's absolutely a group of games that punishes you for your mistakes, but they certainly aren't hard in the way that Ninja Gaiden is. Combat will take a bit of getting used to, but after that it's pretty smooth sailing outside of some pitfalls intended to screw you over the first time or two.
The first Dark Souls managed to get that reputation for its "insane" difficulty, but I would certainly say that it wasn't much deserved.

Stop trying to start consolewar threads.

Can I play all 5 games on a PS4?
I assume I would need a digital copy of Demon though, right? Do they sell that on PSN?

you can't play des and das1 on a ps4

Nothing really compares to the first time you play through Demon's Souls. The magic unfortunately really fades after the first time though.

Which is why I've waited like 3 years since my last playthrough. I still love it, but nostalgia helps
