The one where everything's pixellated.
the one that's like that one SNES game if it were also like that other SNES game
I've been playing a lot of Devil Daggers. I can't get much further than 300 seconds, so I'll probably never hit 500, but it's still fun.
I recently bought Shovel Knight for $10 before the price went up to $25, but I haven't played it yet.
I want to buy Hollow Knight and Downwell, too. They both look great.
I'm just waiting for Yooka Laylee
Downwell is pretty good once you get a couple styles and color palettes that you like.
Why would someone make their game look like that on purpose?
Best platformers?
idk why the more pretentious indie designers do this, either. is the camera really going to spaz out like that for the whole game?
You don't understand
>camera
Cameras weren't used before Super Mario 64.
downwell is a great "feel like poppin in 15 mins and then doing some other shit" game. very fun to come back and revisit, same thing with devil daggers. i also bought shovel knight after pirating it years ago, decided it was time to give them my money (i do my best to give back to developers who make shit i genuinely like.) i'm playing through the plague knight campaign right now, pretty fun.
Why every indie game is pixelized shit ? I understand that its faster to develop but still, I'd say 40% of indie games are retro pixel.
It's obviously popular.
They grew up on 3-4th gen consoles
so you are saying most of the people buying retro pixel games are men in their 30s?
So is it every indie game or is it 40% of them?
I'm not even sure what kind of graphics you're talking about, anyway. There are games which are deliberately made to look "retro" because people think it's cool, there are games which don't really look "retro" but have pixel graphics anyway because people think it's cool, and then there are other 2-D games which get lumped in with pixel shit just because Sup Forums is retarded.
No the devs are
The buyers are 14 years old kid who want to feel like playing on a SNES
Except it wasn't anything like op pic
The average videogame consumer is 30 years old, user.
I wouldn't be surprised if half of the people who buy video games in general are men in their 30s.
Very interesting read on how the OP game look was achieved.

Is Jotun good? The video of the gameplay doesn't really tell how it is
Lyle in Cube Sector is pretty damn good for a free game.
Huge chunk of core gamers not including I play candy crush on my mobile group is 22 to 34 and this was a couple of years ago. It could be 25+ today.
Old as balls, but really decent for its time, yeah.
it doesn't hold up but it's ok. this was one of the original indie darlings in the cave story era of Sup Forums but even then lyle was still pretty under the radar. man, that was a different time. what else was big back then as far as freeware indies went? i can only recall cave story and lyle, gish was fairly big but it was commercial.
...
The Signal From Tolva looks pretty cool. I'm glad that it actually hand crafted and not procedurally generated like SYABH. And it's not Kickstarter this time so Kickstarter actually served its purpose in this instance.
Anyone?
>easy to draw and align
>some people like the aesthetics, sometimes due to nostalgia
>allow the game to run on anything faster than pocket calculator
>personal choice and/or specialization, due to some people already having a prior experience in pixel art
>pleasing to the eye if done right
>allows a creator to focus more on music and gameplay
Did I miss anything?
fuck off
Did I hurt your feelings? I do apologize. I had no idea you weren't expecting an answer when you asked a question.
This looks interesting.
Yesterday I finished Night in the Woods. I like it.
I hope FP2 comes out this year cause the demo gave me the hypes.
Try out Hollow Knight.
Is this a Shovel Knight ripoff?
Forgot to mention I'm getting through Dust: An Elysian Tail.
Jesus am I a furry yet?
